I request please to update this up to date w/ the current era OS’s potential: -Viewing more of the list at once (rather than using an ipod style slow scrollwheel thru a few at once). -allowing dark mode (custom colors add so much more to the experience, too) - smaller global font sizes , possibly adding color settings -overall faster responsiveness -overall global size of everything in the app -CUSTOM “IDEAS by mood”and “mood” CATEGORIES pleaseeeee <3333 ### 4/5 — Love App *2019-08-05, version 5.9* I love this app. My only complaint is that I wish it wasn’t limited to only two devices. Only issue I have is I could be writing a verse and the app freezes and closes and when reopened you have to re write all you jotted down before the freeze smh bad for freestyle writers. ### 4/5 — 5 years of use *2018-10-10, version 5.9* I’m rating this app because I was about to install it on another device and I seen the rating it had: I have been using this app for 5 years with over 90 songs stored. This is one of the best investments I could purchase. yes there are a few bugs. Sometimes the app shuts down if you keep switching back and forth from rhyme section to song. And sometime it doesn’t save some of the last things you wrote which can be a pain. I’ve just learned to always keep it updated with the Dropbox cloud option after every couple bars. If they fix that then I will change to 5 stars ### 4/5 — Nice app, with a glitch. *2017-04-29, version 5.8* I like this app, since I'm a budding songwriter/music producer and I have trouble putting ideas in writing - or typing. But the only problem is that I can't sync with my iPad. Anyone else have this problem? Otherwise, it's a good idea. ### 4/5 — Love it! But could be better. *2015-10-14, version 5.4* Writing songs with pen and paper is too hard. Thoughts come to me throughout the day and with the app I can write or change any song on the go. Everything can be backed up to iCloud. You can create categories to organize. Such as "finished songs" or "songs in progress". Also, GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! I lost my password and my email had been deactivated and they helped me re set up everything via email within 48 hrs, very nice and helpful. There are a few annoying things that could be fixed but nothing that effects my songs and there really isn't an app that is better. ### 3/5 — Could be better *2014-03-31, version 5.0* I like the idea. The rhyme dictionary is pretty good. The interface could be improved: scrolling and rearranging sections is difficult and sticky. Needs an auto-scroll feature that would scroll the lyrics. I'd like to set the length of the song, e.g. 3:20, and the app should scroll the lyrics so that the end is reached around that time. That would be especially useful when recording music to lyrics through the app, and in preview mode. The app crashes a lot. ### 3/5 — Great but I'm angry *2014-03-18, version 5.0* Although I am angry with the sync feature this app is amazing and worth the money. I am very angry with songwriter's pad sync. I made an account and then it asked me what songs I wanted to put on SPS. I didn't really think I needed to put my songs there so I pressed next. When I proceeded to the next place, I was in the menu and all of my songs were deleted. If this is a bug please fix it and if this is on purpose please give further instruction on the backup screen. ### 4/5 — I love this app.. It's been useful! *2014-03-11, version 5.0* This app is actually very useable and helpful. I have to say I really like it. I use it for structuring all my songs and they make it quite easy by being able to add blocks and suggesting ideas/rhymes etc. If you're looking for a quick sketch of ideas and songs then fine, use Notes, but after you're done and you want to finalise the song this app is awesome for that. I personally just go straight to it in the app because I like to structure as I go along. It's easy to say this app is frustrating for some because everyone has a different rhythm in the creative process. The app has a recording function so you can attach a voice recording within your song/idea. Yes, of course it has some bugs, the flow of the graphics needs attention and it's crashed on me a couple times on the iPhone only (never on my iPad or Mac however). I love this app and I songwrite for a living so that's saying a lot. Think it's great and would recommend esp on Mac or iPad if you want a good songwriting structure App! ### 3/5 — Too Frustrating *2014-02-22, version 5.0* Inspiration is fleeting, and when I want to write something down, it is almost an immediacy. This app is almost perfect for what Is except for the user interface, which act as more of an impediment than a utility. I really wish the developer would just fix the glitches so the app behaved as I know it was designed. Also, I sync using it's built in cloud btwn iPhone and iPad. One day - all 70 songs were magically gone from the iPad. This scared the crap out of me. I had to spend 30 minutes individually syncing to Dropbox for added security - I couldn't even do that all songs at once. My art is nothing to risk with a glitchy app potentially jeopardizing it's existence. ### 3/5 — Almost got it… *2014-02-01, version 5.0* The app is good for thought organization and rhyme dictionary functions, but GUI needs work. For example, when you scroll through your blocks (chorus, verse, bridge) it tends to stick and won't let you scroll to another block. There's a better way to organize this app, I know there is. I still use this app for the word wheel thingy and the rhyme dictionary but I just use notes to write. They almost got it though. ### 4/5 — Not Very Helpful *2013-06-30, version 4.0.1* I would give this 2 1/2 but since there are no halves I gave it a two. The "+Ideas" section doesn't really help me. The rhymes are WAY off, I looked up "whispers" and one of them was "microorganisms". I think that you should also be allowed to import tracks from your camera roll. If we're WRITING a song, why would we import one from ITunes? Why do I have to pay for it again? ### 1/5 — Deletes songs and lyrics when syncing *2018-04-28, version 5.9* I used to swear by this app, but now I am extremely upset! The app connects to the iPad version and when I send and download songs from the cloud, lyrics get deleted and songs get erased! Make sure you back up your lyrics and chords to another app! I use the iPad version for open mic, so now I know to never download from the cloud again. I’ll stick to using the iPad version only. ### 1/5 — Fix bugs...awful right now *2017-09-25, version 5.8* I never write reviews...but I’m done with this app until all the bugs get fixed. I’ve lost lyrics every time I’ve written a song because it crashes or just decides not to save something. I used to have to screenshot every lyric because I knew I’d lose it eventually. Great app if it works right but I’m tired of losing my music ideas... ### 1/5 — DOESN'T WORK *2017-09-07, version 5.8* I bought this app and the rhymes section doesn't work times 9 out of 10 ### 1/5 — Inexplicably lost all my lyrics *2016-01-18, version 5.4* Ignoring the fact that this app is riddled with bugs and crashes with the frequency of a Malaysian flight, I foolishly decided to continue using it for storing my lyrics. I, at one point, had an upwards of 20 songs stored in this app. Foolish indeed, as one day without warning or even the slightest indication that something was awry, my entire collection of writings vanished without a trace, leaving not a single recoverable piece of data. The point that I leave you with is this; DO NOT TRUST THIS APP TO STORE YOUR DATA. If you are one of the many writers who made the unfortunate choice to entrust this app with your precious writings, I urge you to back up your work on another service, as any day, possibly next year, possibly this very evening, you may be stripped of it completely. ### 1/5 — Too many issues, no response *2014-11-16, version 5.2* I have had this app since it came out and there have always been issues. I have attempted to contact them multiple times and have never, not once received a response. The app has great potential, I have it on my MacBook, iPad and iPhone in hopes that one day it would all work the way it should. Update after update leads to more frustration. One thing gets fixed and two more are broken. I too have lost lyrics, I've never synced my Mac because it won't allow me to and now my iPhone keeps telling me I need an internet connection. I suppose they got my money and that's all they cared about. With unreliable function and no customer service I guess I'm moving on and you should probably pass on this one as well. ### 1/5 — My OCD and this apps many shortcomings prevents me from enjoying this... *2013-01-18, version 3.0.1* What can't I delete the welcome message from my song list. This infuriates me... Not allowing you to delete that is a pretty poor design decision. Another OCD complaint... Why offer synonyms but not antonyms? Why bother having a thesaurus that only gives half the info? I could just be using notepad and my dictionary app if I'm going to be using 2 apps anyways since this one is so limited. I may as well do that for free. Another gripe is the advertised phrases section. It's basically a database of overused phrases you would never include in your songwriting organized into 9 very broad uninspired categories. The app forgets there are different kinds of sadness, happiness and anger. This doesn't attempt to differentiate between those nuances which really makes it fail as a songwriting tool. Most importantly, they've removed key features from the iPhone version such as chord support (which was the thing that sold me on getting this). Without easy chord support, what's to differentiate this from notepad? A header that says "chorus"? This is a very dumbed down, bare bones version of the iPad app. They advertise them as being the same but they are not. I will be submitting for a refund. This app is simply not worth the cost. ### 1/5 — Crashed THREE times in a row!! *2012-07-08, version 2.1* Lost everything...AGAIN!! Hadn't used this app in a long time and I thought the developers would have updated it by now. I was WRONG! This app is STILL trash!! Lost two songs when it crashed! The developers need to be embarrassed! This is pathetic! You also can't scroll down completely to the next line when typing. How can u use this garbage?? Look I rarely give reviews but in this case I have to. Especially considering the amount of money I paid for this app. I was writing lyrics last night using this app and it crashed on me THREE TIMES in a row!! Lost everything!! Thank God I had those lyrics backed up on another app. TEN dollars for a song writing app and u lose everything because it crashes!! Really?? I STRONGLY advise any and everyone DO NOT PURCHASE THIS APP!! It's robbery without question! It doesn't matter what the app does if you can't even put lyrics in it!! Like i said I NEVER write reviews but in this case it's a must. ### 2/5 — Needs improvement *2014-08-30, version 5.0* Read this before spending your 💵💵💵. I was just about to shell out more for the ipad version and desktop. The app clearly states under "other features" that you can change font style and size. I see no option for this, the stock font size and style is to thin and small. Also this app needs the ability of audio copy/audiopaste. I receive my tracks by email and need the ability to "open in" into this app so i can listen, write, and record my ideas on the fly. When you do import tracks you can't even rewind/fast forward the tracks. Wow❗️ Add these two features, fix the recording/playback (loop fuction for a particular section would be nice too) issues and i will gladly give 5 stars and recommend this app until then 👉👉👉I'm better of playing my music in the background and using the notes app ### 2/5 — Great app, but some major issues *2013-07-31, version 4.0.1* I wish I could give this app 5 stars, but I can't. It's setup to be a great app, but has some major and very frustrating issues. It deletes (or forgets?) lyrics! Example, I just wrote a verse, pc, and chorus. Decided to email a copy to my cowriter... It deleted the last 3 lines of my chorus! That cannot happen! This also seems to happen when I upload songs to cloud and download on a different device. I want to keep using this app, because of all the great features, but this is an absolute deal breaker. I shouldn't have to worry about whether my lyrics are being saved or not. I hope that this is an issue they are aware of and will fix in the future. In the meantime, I'll use my clunky laptop and MasterWriter. My favorite part is the place where you can get ideas based on your mood. I gave this 5 stars because of all the reasons above PLUS (yes there's more lol) there have so far been so glitches. I only say this to hopefully bring a little credibility to "Dante Moore's" very hardworking app, "Songwriter's Pad! This app is extremely easy to learn and even easier to maneuver around. It is great for storing your songs & keeping track of your co-writers & dates of creation. I've been using Songwriter's Pad since its conception & all along the way thru all it's growing pains the creators have listened to every suggestion I've offered & they've worked hard to bring it up to the level a professional songwriter needs to carve out a great song. I highly recommend this app to any beginning, intermediate or professional songwriter regardless of what level they are at! I would say with all honesty that there is no other songwriter app out there that can even compare to "Dante Moore's" Songwriter's Pad for IPad, IPhone or desktop. ### 5/5 — Bugs!! *2014-07-04, version 5.0* Everytime i go to write a song if i dont press done it doesnt save. (Should change that) it freezes and exit out the app completely once again not saving any progress that may have been done. Ive put in money to help the App so i expect to get what i paid for. Thanks ### 5/5 — First song in the books *2013-07-20, version 4.0.1* Just finished writing my first song with songwriter pad & overall I'd say it went smooth & really easy to lay my lyrics down. There needs to be some improvement like centering layout on their computer version & printing needs to be centered. Also the font size needs to have larger options. But these r all improvement ideas to help make writing a song easier on here. Overall it is the Best songwriting app on here b/c bring able to sync my song across my iphone 5, imac & pc works quick & easy after you setup & account. Other than great ideas and rhyming schemes. But not only does Songwriter's Pad organize all of your songs and ideas, it GIVES you more ideas to help you write songs!
