### 2/5 — No better than regular Sonos app

*2026-04-29, version 1.13.31*

Not better in any way I can tell for my Sonos move 1s - paid for it but still get adds - won’t play YouTube music (app states this - not just that I couldn’t make it work). Search continues.

### 3/5 — Good app, could be great

*2025-10-18, version 1.13.30*

Works well and is much better than the official Sonos app.

Unfortunately, the favourites button only shows the main favourites. It does not include Sonos playlists favourites. This change would make the app perfect.

### 3/5 — Really good, few minor interface problems

*2025-08-10, version 1.13.30*

Overall I love this app, it’s much nicer than the official one.

My one issue is that when using the BBC Sounds service the programme synopses aren’t shown so it’s impossible to tell one episode from the next.

Works perfectly for music playback though.

### 4/5 — Good app, could be great

*2025-03-29, version 1.13.29*

Works well and is much better than the official Sonos app.

Unfortunately, the favourites button only shows the main favourites. It does not include Sonos playlists favourites. This change would make the app perfect.

### 5/5 — Sonos - take note!! This is what yours should be

*2025-01-28, version 1.13.29*

I have an extensive library of rock/pop, classical and jazz. I have spent a lot of time getting my tagging right - and this app supports it magnificently. In particular its search function is beyond good. and it doesn’t fall over, slow down, become unresponsive air drop off rooms like the “new” Sonos App.
 Hi
Sonos don’t seem to care (any more) about people who only want to use the equipment with their own music library. This app caters to it very well. I think you still need the Sonos apps for setting up the libraries etc; but for day to day use of the system this is all you need.

I hope they learn from your app, rather than trying to block it or something…

### 5/5 — Works great (unlike the official app)

*2025-01-25, version 1.13.29*

I bought this mostly to say thank you to the developer for making SonoPhone (which is also excellent), but this app is also very well done - fast, responsive, clear UI. Please keep up the great work.

### 3/5 — Good, but 1 change would make it great.

*2025-01-10, version 1.13.29*

In the main this app is brilliant. The only thing it lacks is a single place to go to manage all your favourites. In the official Sonos app, the favourites section shows ALL the favourites. i.e. it also includes Sonos playlist favourites.

It is a little more frustrating in this app, as you have to switch between favourites and then you need to select the home button and then you have to select the Sonos playlists.

### 3/5 — Almost great

*2024-12-30, version 1.13.28*

The app works well, but it only works in landscape orientation.

### 5/5 — What a jewel of an app!

*2024-12-13, version 1.13.28*

Congratulations for creating such a superb application for Sonos speaker systems. I have been induring the annoyingly substandard Sonos app for many years, as I was unaware that your app was available. Extremely easy to set up and navigate. Well done, sir!

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2024-11-20, version 1.13.28*

App is excellent- the Sonos “software engineers” should hang their heads in shame.

### 5/5 — Better than Sonos’ own app

*2024-11-03, version 1.13.28*

Actually way better. It’s much quicker to log into Sonos devices. And it handles S1 and S2 together which puts to bed Sonos’ ridiculous (and environmentally irresponsible) notion that you should skip your old S1 units.

### 5/5 — Sehr gut!

*2024-09-20, version 1.13.28*

Just what a player for Sonos should be, simple, intuitive and what’s more it works without fuss. Installed and running in seconds, no complicated set up, no network issues, it found everything and I’m happily playing tracks and playlists from my NAS once again.

### 5/5 — The only Sonos app that works

*2024-08-31, version 1.13.28*

Since the official app has become a dumpster fire, this is the only app that works with my system anymore.

### 4/5 — Good app!

*2024-08-26, version 1.13.28*

Please add option to reduce font size. I am using iPad Pro 12.9 and longer albums and song names overlaps when multiple albums are displayed. This makes it very hard to read and select the correct file. Thanks so much!

### 2/5 — Not a great alternative

*2024-08-24, version 1.13.28*

I bought because of all the trouble caused by the broken Sonos app update but this has identical problems when devices aren’t being found, not responding etc.

### 5/5 — The app sonos wish they had developed

*2024-08-09, version 1.13.28*

Having persevered with the poor communication and frustrating unreliability of my sonos app the recent update was the final straw. So I downloaded sonopad and sonophone, straight out of the box both apps worked flawlessly connecting to my system and recognising my favourites and all other settings. I was able to set up playlists and shuffle all my songs. The interface is clean and clear and far more intuitive than the sonos interface. Well done great app, and if I was sonos I would be contacting this app’s developers.

### 5/5 — Great app! Works perfectly

*2024-08-03, version 1.13.28*

After sonos made a mess with their app, Sonopad and Sonophone saved the day! Extremely happy with both versions.
Keep up the good work!

### 5/5 — Sonos should just buy this app!

*2024-07-31, version 1.13.28*

The official Sonos app just stopped working with my local music library after the “upgraded’ the S2 app. Sonopad continues to work fine. Just goes to show that one competent developer can often do more than a whole team of engineers.

### 4/5 — Works so good

*2024-07-30, version 1.13.28*

Because Sonos decided that Sonos apps was not important, I looked at alternative. And this app is excellent. Maybe the look is not a la mode but it works. Took 10 minutes to learn how it work. I really recommend this app.

The only option I’m missing is the “update library”. If this could be added it would be really nice. I read that app is not a replacement of the Sonos app but if I could not use Sonos app I would be really happy.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2024-07-29, version 1.13.28*

This is the best and only app you should use to control your Sonos system. Much quicker, better looking, easy to use than the appalling official app. If you have invested a lot of money (like me) in a Sonos system, which the latest official app has broken this wonderful app will restore your sanity. 3.99 has saved me from hours of therapy. Thank you Thank you

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work

*2023-03-20, version 1.13.22*

Simply does not work. Won’t find, recognize or play music from Sonos or iPad

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2021-10-31, version 1.13.14*

Had to buy it to try it but what a complete waste of money. Doesn’t recognise most of my Sonos products, offers no settings and the time delay in the volume control makes it torture to use. Utter rubbish

### 1/5 — Has potential but……….

*2021-07-05, version 1.13.13*

Nice effort but it doesn’t connect to Spotify. Will probably seek a refund. Would also like have been able to use in portrait mode.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work at All

*2020-09-25, version 1.13.3*

Just bought it...I want my money back.

### 1/5 — Never got started

*2020-04-17, version 1.11.4*

No action just loading says nothing but just loading players.

### 1/5 — No too bad, but...

*2020-02-05, version 1.11.4*

Ok the interface is slick, but the app does not let view or set alarms... really !

We wake every morning to Sonos via set alarms, and I was hoping this app would be easier to use... Not Available !

Can’t save Spotify songs to Sonos playlist.

Sonos playlist take long time to load.

Don’t waste your money on a slick interface with useless bells and whistles (internet search)

Wish I could leave zero stars...

### 1/5 — Waste of money ...

*2019-11-30, version 1.11.1*

Very poor functionality. Will find my music via the network on my PC based media server, but cannot play it. Does not indicate in any way what the problem might be. Will find and play my iPad based radio stations, however if I look at any other music source via the Sonopad app while a radio station is playing, there is then no way to revert the view to the playing radio stationother than to try and manually locate it again.

### 1/5 — Not what I thought

*2019-09-15, version 1.11.0*

Bought this because I thought it would allow me to play my iPad music library through my sonos speaker but sadly no! Got carried away with all the positive reviews and didn’t read enough of the small print!

### 1/5 — High hopes-but a no go

*2018-11-20, version 1.10.0*

Was exited to find an app that would work (the app from Sonos is a joke). But, this app is not a good as it sounds. It’s not intuitive. It doesn’t find playlists like it should. When it does and loads them, it doesn’t play anything even though you click the play button. It’s weird the way it does load playlists, then has to load them again in the play list-play side. The really stupid thing is, when I open the native Sonos App and got it to play (finally), THEN this app turned right around and was playing the same play lists. If I turned playlist off in this app, it auctioned on the native app. Just kluge. And while the developer is nice, there is simply ZERO help files out there. So now, I have paid for an app that isn’t working and difficult to use and a native Sonos App that is a joke and doesn’t work correctly at all. Which means, my Sonos system is now all junk to store in the garage. This is infuriating. I would not buy this again.

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2015-06-07, version 1.8.1*

Great layout and has potential but it won't stay open for more then 30seconds and keeps crashing

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2026-04-25, version 1.13.31*

Perfect and well thought out, ticks all the right boxes, does everything you need in a clear simple way without any unnecessary clutter. Best I’ve tried by far and believe me I’ve tried many!

### 5/5 — Just Great!

*2025-11-06, version 1.13.30*

I purchased this app a few years ago and almost forgot I had it in my library. The SonoPad app is so much easier to use than the Sonos app. It is a must have if you own a Sonos system!

### 5/5 — This is so simple

*2025-11-06, version 1.13.30*

I have spent many hours with Sonos tech folk discussing the problem of S2 trying to upgrade my S1 Play 5 Gen 1 speaker to S2. Everyone bar S2 knows is not compatible, it’s just a problem caused by being a loyal customer. But not anymore!

This app is so very simple. It is slightly more complex to navigate but the features are great and it looks like it was designed this century - drag and drop to group speakers etc.

It’s also very fast, no more waiting for S2 to scroll the web to find stuff that were already there 30mins earlier.

I strongly recommend this app.

### 5/5 — Transformational

*2025-09-20, version 1.13.30*

I like many others have had constant issues with my 8 speaker Sonos set up. Sonos don’t answer my emails anymore, no help, I felt abandoned. First time I used sonopad I was astounded by how good my system responded, acted during use and how easy the dashboard was to use. Instant volume control , NO speaker dropout ( which has plagued me for the last 3 years) so far, fabulous!

### 5/5 — Thank you thank you!

*2025-09-07, version 1.13.30*

I don’t know what’s been going on at the Sonos HQ, but recently I had been getting outrageous delays and too many “there was a problem” with the company app. I was considering scrapping the whole system.
Until I found this.
No more delays. Can add favorites “without problems”. Can change volumes in a “system” flawlessly. This has been a game changer. I suppose I’ll always need the standard app for the inevitable “cannot find any products” disconnections, but for day to day usage, this is now my go to Sonos app. Well made. Thank you thank you.

### 5/5 — Brilliant, absolutely

*2025-08-31, version 1.13.30*

I’ve had 8 Sonos speakers across 3 rooms for about 10 years, mainly as TV speakers.
In all that time I have had to put effort in to play music via the Sonos app because the Sonos app is awful.
THIS app has transformed my usage within ONE HOUR.
It is what Sonos should be offering its customers.

### 5/5 — Very good, very useful app

*2025-04-30, version 1.13.29*

This app saved my bacon when the Sonos app was blown up. I have been using it since without any problems and it is now my go to app for operating my Sonos system. I only go back to the repaired Sonos app when I need to set an alarm.

### 5/5 — What a gift!

*2025-02-22, version 1.13.29*

Anyone with a Sonos device knows that their app is a complete mess right now. I decided to search for an alternative and found SonoPad for Sonos and SonoPhone for iphone. I liked the phone app so much I bought the ipad app too. It is well worth the money for 2 reasons…1)The volume control has ZERO latency! What a gift! 2)I use PocketCasts to listen to podcasts. On the Sonos app, I’d have to scrub to get to a position if I started on my iphone and went to my Play 3 (yes, I’m still rocking my Play 3 speaker). Not with these apps! Both sync the timestamp and it goes both ways; speaker to iphone/ipad and iphone/ipad to speaker, What a gift! Can’t wait to see what else these apps can do. Back to listening and controlling my media without friction!

### 5/5 — Works, when the Sonos app never does

*2025-02-22, version 1.13.29*

Sonos really should hire these guys

### 5/5 — Excellent app replacement for a broken Sonos app

*2025-01-31, version 1.13.29*

This is well-written app for the Sonos platform. It works so much better than the official one from Sonos. The UI is also easier to navigate.
I use this on an old iPad set up in kiosk mode, mounted on a wall to control my system. I would (pretty please) like to have an option in the app to dim the screen or put a black overlay to prevent LED burn-in
