### 3/5 — Mixed Experience

*2026-02-01, version 1.8.12*

Found all my devices well enough. Didn’t find my music at all, where another app had no problem. No doubt that can be resolved, but install should be a good experience.
App seems to be device-centric, which makes some sense, but I prefer music-centric. And the search function is a tap-to-menu process, and I prefer to have a search field front-and-centre.

### 4/5 — Great app in many ways

*2025-11-24, version 1.8.12*

This app is so much better than the Sonos app in general navigation. I miss having a lossless indicator.

### 3/5 — Basic but useful

*2025-09-25, version 1.8.8*

It’s a basic but potentially useful alternative Sonos controller app. First the good: It’s relatively clean. No dragging everything into view and layering windows on top of windows and jumping around like the Sonos app. It may not be recommended app design, but it’s clean design. It even hides the only-needed-sometimes “shuffle” button, which is awesome. And the “favourites” are sorted alphabetically, unlike the Sonos app which chooses to sort them in a useless reverse chronologically-added order. Now for the less-good / disclaimers: it’s SonoPHONE, no support for the larger iPad screen (apparently you want SonoPad for your other devices). There’s no “recently played”, although as that feature has been buggy or broken since birth on the official app, no great loss. Also no sign of the features Sonos chose to remove, like error log and track bitrate/quality indicators. So yeah, it’s a basic Sonos remote control, but given the absolute train wreck that is the official app, you probably need something better for day-to-day use. This will do the job as the kind of “just works” controller Sonos used to make.

### 3/5 — Works eventually. Not worth bothering with.

*2025-07-11, version 1.8.7*

Good luck to you if you get this working upon buying. Eventually connects after a couple of hours on the iPhone. Add it to your Apple ecosystem (iPad) and it won’t connect again. Maybe in a few hours like with the iPhone. Ultimately, it’s pretty garbage just like the Sonos app which we are all trying to escape. Best advice is not to invest in Sonos period.

### 5/5 — Ausgezeichnet!

*2025-06-28*

### 5/5 — It just works

*2025-05-23, version 1.8.7*

Unlike the native Sonos app, which currently is unable to shuffle playlists of more than 100 songs, SonoPhone lets me shuffle my entire playlist.

### 5/5 — Sonos, you need to acquire this app

*2025-05-19, version 1.8.7*

Hands down a better experience than the awful junk app Sonos have released - it’s like the good old days of using a Sonos system again.

Slight shame that the UI design is from those days too, but I can finally play/pause without lag and add music without random errors again!

Sonos, you need to acquire this app and sack your development team.

### 5/5 — It just works

*2025-05-18, version 1.8.7*

I can’t quite describe the feeling… I can control my Sonos speakers again, with no lag and no issues. Want to raise or lower the volume? It… does it, now, not ten seconds from now. Want to start or pause a song? It does it, now.
Given the actual Sonos app can’t reliably do these things, I’ve switched to using this. Navigation is a bit clunky, but you get used to it. And it’s not the prettiest app on my phone. But it works! It actually works!

### 5/5 — Best for S1 users / Apple Music

*2025-05-06, version 1.8.7*

Downloaded as a potential alternative to the Sonos S1 app, which hasn’t displayed any text for Apple Music playlists for years now. And yep, this app works.

Device grouping is much better handled, the app feels much snappier and the speakers seem to respond in good time.

Library browsing is good, and overall this is now my go-to app for our S1-only system. Recommended.

### 5/5 — App design how it should be

*2025-05-06, version 1.8.7*

I forgot how fast my phone could run apps, this is 1000x better than the garbage from Sonos. Thankyou!

### 4/5 — Excellent

*2025-04-25, version 1.8.7*

I love the app. Fewer taps for all important tasks. Quick to load players. Much faster than Sonos app. I am reserving one star for feature I need. Sleep timer!

### 5/5 — Thanks!

*2025-04-06, version 1.8.7*

Wish I would have found this app sooner. Night and day difference from the Sonos app.

Not only should Sonos hire this guy to fix their app disaster, they should pay him for helping save their business.

### 5/5 — Glad I found this

*2025-04-01, version 1.8.7*

I was getting nowhere with the Sonos app after a recent upgrade of my iPhone. Before it was fine but the Sonos app was proving hopeless. So glad I’ve found your SonoPhone and can enjoy my investment in Sonos sound system again. Shame on Sonos for treating its customers so badly.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — As bad as Sonos

*2026-06-13, version 1.8.12*

Scam ware as far as I’m concerned. I’d actually like a refund. I see nowhere in the menus on how to add a speaker. It instantly picked up one of my Roams, but not the other or the Ones. I also done see where to add music services like Spotify or Amazon.

### 1/5 — Useless for Large Libraries

*2026-05-30, version 1.8.12*

I have a large Apple Music library. Every time I open this app, it takes ages to load the library and won't play anything from it. Doesn't solve any of the problems that plague the official Sonos app in that regard. Feel I've wasted my money.

### 1/5 — Doesnt work

*2026-03-28, version 1.8.12*

Cannot find my Sonos devices. The reason i got the app was to replace the useless sonos app, which also cannot detect them. This app’s suggested fix was to consult the sonos app, so obviously that is useless and this was a waste of $4. And yes, I am connected to my network. Thanks.

### 1/5 — where is the damn search button

*2026-02-20, version 1.8.12*

most frustrating app i have ever used in my life….the single most important feature is buried god knows where…complete and total failure UX design

### 1/5 — Not useful

*2025-08-31, version 1.8.8*

Does not give you additional features than the Sonos app which is saying a lot because the Sonos app is horrible. Hard to say save your money on a 3.99 app but this would qualify.

### 1/5 — Did not work for me

*2025-06-28, version 1.8.7*

Have a mix of old and new Sonos products. Would not link all speakers. Could only use two speakers together. Also Nord vpn affected the app. Wasted my money

### 1/5 — No longer connects either Apple Music

*2025-05-08, version 1.8.7*

Was my preferred way if using Sonos devices when Sonos’ own app became unusable. Now Sonophone will connect with Music services I no longer subscribe to but not Apple, it simply spins.

### 1/5 — Worked well 1 day

*2025-03-07, version 1.8.7*

After day 1, Apple Music won’t connect, there’s lag. Same experience as Sonos app

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-02-18, version 1.8.7*

Barebones dull interface, needs way more time in the oven. Didn’t even detect my speakers, no way to guide users on how to troubleshoot. Looks like it was abandoned. Will be asking for a refund. It’s as broken as Sonos app.

### 1/5 — Had high hopes

*2025-02-06, version 1.8.7*

I finally found something with good reviews for my sonos system since their app doesnt work. I just upgraded my iphone and now the app doesnt work at all or lags about 1-2 minutes after I tap a button. It is a useless app I’ve paid for now.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Better than SONOS

*2026-06-02, version 1.8.12*

Very simple … WAY better than the “genuine” SONOS app.

### 5/5 — Great!!

*2026-05-15, version 1.8.12*

This app is excellent at finding, connecting and controlling my Sonos S1 system. It is also extremely Fast! Overall leaves me wondering why Sonos does not provide this experience with their app.
I recently replaced my iPhone and the S1 app would not connect to my Sonos system. After much time debugging, following the, unhelpful, Sonos recommended procedures, I downloaded this app. Within 5 seconds, this app connected, found all system components, services, playlists, etc. Great job!!

### 5/5 — Better than the native app

*2026-02-07, version 1.8.12*

Does everything I need without the drama. Thanks, Stefan!

### 5/5 — Exceptional

*2026-01-02, version 1.8.12*

Compared to the Sonos app, this is beyond exceptional. I still don’t understand why Sonos could not have done the same.

### 5/5 — RadioFan

*2025-12-21, version 1.8.12*

I had spent so much time trying to get the two Sonos apps to work! The Sonos S1 app and the Sonos app. They kept having so many issues. I downloaded this app, now it is so easy to run both legacy Sonos devices and new ones. Thank you for this app!

### 5/5 — 非常好用

*2025-11-26*

特别是在mac上，比sonos的mac 软件好用多了

### 5/5 — It works!

*2025-09-16, version 1.8.8*

I’ve been having real problems with Sonos losing playlists and access to Music Library. This works for me-takes a while to load but much better than the Sonos app interface with Apple Music

### 5/5 — thank you!

*2025-09-11, version 1.8.8*

i can finally control my sonos speakers again - no lag, no performance issue - it just works. thank you!

### 5/5 — Better than the Sonos app

*2025-08-10, version 1.8.8*

It just works.

### 5/5 — New life for components

*2025-07-28, version 1.8.8*

Perhaps it has always been able and I just missed it but I'd rather credit the newly added grouping and finding lost player support for once again renewing my faith in this app and its ability to make Sonos components function better than the official app. I'd earlier given up being able to use my Play:1 without risking my other functioning components to another of the official apps' "bug fix and enhancement" releases. The latest release of SonoPhone lets me not only find them all and re-group them but also independently adjust their volumes while AirPlaying to them. Well done!
