### 2/5 — Sonos roam

*2026-08-26, version 88.1.9*

Just bought my 4th Sonos speaker. A Sonos Roam and it won’t work

### 2/5 — Beaucoup de bugs

*2026-08-25, version 88.1.9*

### 4/5 — Good sound, but…

*2026-08-25, version 88.1.9*

The sound is excellent and when connected to WiFi there are no connection issues. Awesome!!!
But, when an album comes to an end, it just stops. Ugh!
On Spotify it goes into Radio mode and continues with same type songs.
So, on Sonos you must create a looooong playlist, or constantly curate music to listen to.

### 2/5 — UPDATE: BROKEN 8-24-26

*2026-08-24, version 88.0.51*

8/24/26 Just when everything seemed good, release 88.00.51 now drops my system again. As I was enjoying music, all speakers stopped and I get the message “The connection to Apple Music was lost.” My phone was stationary with 100% strong internet connection. Apple Music itself was working fine. Ugh!!! Back to connectivity problems!

JULY 12, 2026 UPDATE
I am providing this updated review to confirm that the app is much improved since the disaster with the 2024 update. The app now meets my expectations for connectivity and function. I have now used it successfully nearly every day for several months, including when we’ve had many guests at the house all connected to my WiFi. The latter is the situation where the app failed miserably after the 2024 update. I would lose volume control and even the ability to shut down the system. With the latest updates over the past several months, the app and all the speakers are now performing very well. I am ready to once again recommend Sonos.

APRIL 7, 2026 UPDATE
My recent experience has been very good with the app’s connectivity to the speakers. (Build 83.01.11)

After nearly two years of being less than satisfied with the app, I am returning to my 5 star rating. Hoping that Sonos has learned that app and speaker functionality are paramount to any other innovations they wish to introduce.

DECEMBER 17, 2025 UPDATE:
Connectivity has continued to improve in build 80.38.8. Not quite to where it was prior to the May ‘24 app disaster, but significantly better. The app connects to speakers relatively quickly, volume control is nearly instantaneous, and I don’t lose control of speakers as often. Moving to three stars. Hoping for continued improvement. I am even considering buying another speaker (which had been off the table since May ‘24).

April 15, 2025 UPDATE: THE VOLUME CONTROL SEEMS TO BE VASTLY IMPROVED IN BUILD 18.19.21! I only just now installed this update, but I immediately noticed that the volume control is much improved. I am getting instantaneous response from the slide bar! Well done, Sonos. Only time will tell if other connectivity issues have been resolved. This is the first software update in a year that I have noticed an improvement in the app’s basic functionality. Hoping it continues! Changing my review from one to two stars and hoping to get back to the 5 star review that I gave years ago.
(Note: I also ran the update for the hardware that seemed to accompany the app update).

OLD REVIEW AFTER THE 2024 RELEASE: I know a lot of folks still complain about features, but for me it’s problems with the app connecting to my WiFi. As I write this I am getting 100% reliability from the Xfinity livestream app over WiFi. So I know it’s not the WiFi on my end that’s the problem. Hey Sonos team, how about checking with Xfinity developers to see how they do it. I’m serious. After all these months of problems with the app, how is this basic issue not resolved? This was not an issue with the Sonos app before the May ‘upgrade.’

### 3/5 — Great sound, frustrating connectivity

*2026-08-24, version 88.0.51*

Sonos makes wonderful-sounding speakers, and I have systems throughout my home. Unfortunately, my new Arc Ultra in my movie room continuously disappears from the Sonos app. Unplugging and reconnecting it brings it back temporarily, but eventually it drops off again.

I’ve tried restarting the router, resetting the system, changing network settings and Wi-Fi channels, and essentially every recommended troubleshooting step. I experienced similar issues with Sonos a few years ago and ultimately had to replace my Spectrum-provided router just to achieve reliable operation.

For a premium whole-home audio system, stability and connectivity should be foundational. The speakers sound fantastic—I just wish the software and network reliability matched the quality of the hardware.

### 2/5 — Functionality

*2026-08-23, version 88.0.51*

The app is counter intuitive to use.
Love the speakers. Dislike the app

### 1/5 — Miserable app

*2026-08-23, version 88.0.51*

Nothing responds when you press the play button. And then when you try to select your TV and the different rooms you want to play it in nothing happens. Then they want you to submit diagnostics so the smart asses making a bunch of money can figure out how to fix their app to work in the first place.
Wish I would have invested it in a different system

### 1/5 — So terrible.

*2026-08-23, version 88.0.51*

It won’t link well with all systems around the house.

### 3/5 — Improving again

*2026-08-23, version 88.0.51*

When playing music from a Hi Res source on a NAS, “Hi Res” is not displayed on the app as in pre May 2024 versions. When opening app whilst music is playing, music stops, need to press pause and play again, to restart. Playing music from NAS, music stops before end of track and needs to be restarted again.

### 2/5 — Constant network issues

*2026-08-23, version 88.0.51*

Even after resetting the network the app appears to work fine then when I close the app and reopen it I have the familiar your settings are not on this network, but all my alarms still come on as programmed so I don’t know why the app won’t recognize the connection. I am tired of resetting every time I open the app. It didn’t used to be like this, and the alarms to play the music are still working. No update is addressing this.

### 1/5 — Can’t handle SPDIF feeds

*2026-08-23, version 88.0.51*

The new app is terrible. It can’t handle TV feeds

### 1/5 — Expensive product rubbish app

*2026-08-23, version 88.0.51*

Given how expensive these product are the app is poor.

Thoroughly unimpressed and regret buying the Sonos Beam now

### 1/5 — Latest version as of 23rd Aug 26

*2026-08-23, version 88.0.51*

If you want to use it with Amazon Music where they’ve just “improved it” then 1 star all the way :-(

1) none of my favourites work any more
2) when accessing albums they’re in a complete random order which cannot be changed, i mean when you have hundreds of albums why would you want them in alphabetical order where you might be able to find what you want
3) if you do click on an album you can no longer see the tracks in that album, just play the whole thing or nothing.

I’m writing this as someone whose had sonos for years (from before they tried to self destroy their own app years ago).

This latest update is total garbage with clearly no testing prior to release.

### 1/5 — Avoid Sonos

*2026-08-23, version 88.0.51*

OK. System is advertised to work smoothly, but it certainly does not connect to my television smoothly. It’s a hassle. I would not recommend this system to anyone at any time.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2026-08-22, version 88.0.51*

Awful app. Very cute that they pulled from App Store temporarily and then re-released in order to remove the old negative reviews from their botched update. Sonos is an awful company that loves to brick their products and hose their customers.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Worst app ever

*2026-08-27, version 88.1.9*

Continuously always having to debug call support reinstall something. It just never works, and it gets worse and worse by the year.

### 1/5 — Unpairs all the time

*2026-08-25, version 88.1.9*

I don’t know about other users but this soundbar is the worst. It disconnects all the time from the app, super annoying!

### 1/5 — Spotify connection failure

*2026-08-25, version 88.0.51*

The whole point of buying this as a speaker went away when the app fails to connect with spotify showing the speaker as an option when clicking the spotify direct link that sonos apps provides.

### 1/5 — The volume button put it back the way it was stop playing games with it

*2026-08-25, version 88.0.51*

Put the volume button back the way it was

### 1/5 — No Rumble

*2026-08-24, version 88.0.51*

Doesn’t allow Rumble app access!

### 1/5 — Intentional destruction?

*2026-08-24, version 88.0.51*

Used to be a great product. I can only
assume that this is some type of industrial espionage?

### 1/5 — Still garbage Aug 2026

*2026-08-24, version 88.0.51*

New speakers, latest updates and I still can’t adjust the volume with this garbage

Why do I have to REBOOT to change the volume?!

Last CEO got fired. Now they need to clean house and hire engineers that are actually competent. I just want to adjust the volume, why is such a basic use case STILL broken?

### 1/5 — Updates ruined my system

*2026-08-24, version 88.0.51*

We have an older Sonos system and the automatic update disconnected our sub and rear speakers. I’ve tried using the S1 app to reconnect the system to my playbar and after a few hours, I’m still lost. This is so frustrating.

### 1/5 — Unusable after the update

*2026-08-24, version 88.0.51*

Garbage product is unusable after their big update. Find 3rd party apps that still work.

### 1/5 — Has gotten so bad

*2026-08-24, version 88.0.51*

Used to love Sonos but the app has totally gone downhill in the last few years. Glitchy, buggy, drops components for no reason, disconnects from the network for no reason. Bad, bad, bad.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Back online with my SONOS!

*2026-08-23, version 88.0.51*

Called the 800 number and got an AWESOME, knowledgeable, patient technical expert named DANIEL. He helped me reset my entire system and I couldn’t be happier to be a SONOS user once again! Thank you SONOS and thank you Daniel!

### 5/5 — Still good in 2026

*2026-08-23, version 88.0.51*

I find myself hooked on Sonos again in 2026. The S2 app has gotten a lot better, and now that I’ve switched back from Android to iOS, the app controls on my iPhone seem to work better and all my true play features and capabilities are back on iOS. My original Playbar still works great and I have updated my setup to include the Era 300 speakers. Although I can integrate the older and newer generation gear for home theater it still all works together just fine for whole house audio.

### 5/5 — Does what I need it to

*2026-08-23, version 88.0.51*

We have been enjoying the Sonos app for many years. It is easy to use and syncs with the streaming sources we access.

### 5/5 — Love my Sonos

*2026-08-23, version 88.0.51*

I absolutely love my Sonos system, I just keep adding more around my house

### 5/5 — Seamless!!

*2026-08-23, version 88.0.51*

Makes listening to our favourite music super easy.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2026-08-22, version 88.0.51*

While not perfect, the room to room system, where each room plays in sync, is fantastic.

### 5/5 — Always the best

*2026-08-22, version 88.0.51*

Sonos is so easy to set up. We have a whole house speaker system in our primary residence and it always has issues doesn’t compare to the sound quality of the Sonos system in our second home.

### 5/5 — Finally good again!

*2026-08-22, version 88.0.51*

So happy that after all these years the Sonos app is nearly as functional and lovely to use as it was before! Thank you Sonos crew!

### 5/5 — So much better

*2026-08-20, version 88.0.51*

Recent improvements have made things much more intuitive and logical. Navigation seems to flow naturally.

### 5/5 — Sonos

*2026-08-20, version 88.0.51*

Super Handy
