They love them. However the UI is very poor. In fact our membership ended and instead of renewing it cancelled and says to message them, which you can’t do because the UI requires you to leave a comment which covers the submit button! They can’t even take my money. ### 2/5 — Disappointed with the app considering how much I paid for a lifetime membership *2026-02-24* It is almost impossible to login to the app because the UI is poor. You have to put the password in first because you can’t scroll down after you enter in your email. Also, when you’re searching for stories, if you click into one then you go back to the search, you have to start from the very beginning instead of where you left off… this makes searching unnecessarily cumbersome. Also, there aren’t very many story options for my 4 year old. Seems like you are in developing stages so I will stick it out for a couple weeks but will likely ask for a refund. Currently it’s worth 77£ even if it’s a lifetime membership. **Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about your experience. We currently have 250+ stories in our library, including age categories for 0–5, 3–7 and 4–10, with many stories suitable for 4-year-olds within these categories. This can be found using our age filters. Regarding the password and search option, we'd love to understand this better so we can help. It is expensive for what you get. Images are very slow to load, even on a good phone. Hated it and cancelled within 2hrs of having it for 7 days free. Tbf that bit was very straightforward ### 3/5 — Kids weren’t impressed *2025-05-14* I think perhaps my kids are too young for the stories on this app. I tried with them but they prefer other story apps we use. When I signed up for the trial it said I’d get emails before being charged incase I wanted to cancel. Well, those emails never came and I got charged. Disappointing to be honest - you put it out of your mind knowing you’ll get a reminder and then it costs you. **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. Since the subscription was set up through the App Store, all billing and trial reminders are managed directly by Apple. Sometimes Apple’s emails can be missed if they land in a junk folder or get blocked by device settings. That said, we’d really love to help make this right. Bad for children, just like watching TV. Also very expensive ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — The New Update is Terrible *2026-06-16* This new update made the experience extremely unpleasant. I hate it. You were supposed to improve it, not taking all the good stuff and turn it into this messy hard-to-handle thing. The user experience is awful! ### 1/5 — Love the content, hate the UX *2026-04-22* Log in, want to download? Ok log in. Now you’re logged in, we need you to log in! Come on. This is preposterous. Can’t get these stories on Yoto. Can’t get them on a Yoto card. No support that I know of, but I’ll update this review should that change. It’s not screen free if me or my child has to use it on my phone to play the content. Can’t get any of this on a Yoto card. **Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. The audiobooks are repetitive and poorly narrated with a voice that kids dislike. ### 1/5 — Bad value *2026-02-28, version 1.5.10* No captions or text are provided. Considering the very high subscription price I think this is poor value. Avoid. ### 1/5 — Misleading app *2026-01-04, version 1.5.7* They make it look like the app is from the BBC but it’s not - the app creators just appeared on a TV show. The signup page claims it won awards from “Parenting Times” and “Women’s Week” - this is untrue and no such awards exist. Do not support this app. ### 1/5 — Very limited and overpriced *2025-11-30, version 1.5.6* No story text is provided, so children can’t follow along and develop reading skills. This makes it mostly pointless. Very frustrating. Unfortunately I don’t always have as much time as I like to sit and read to them so the audio book element has been a game changer for us.
