### 4/5 — Great smart playlists, but slow loading

*2025-09-15, version 3.5.8*

This has the best UI for creating smart playlists compared to similar apps. It is more powerful than Miximum, and much more intuitive than Marvis. My issue, however, is the mixes take a few seconds to load up, much slower than comparable apps.

### 4/5 — Interesting

*2025-04-18, version 3.5.4*

Works fine on MacOS , wished to be a glass effect theme and fonts to be resizable

### 3/5 — Nice app but with some bugs

*2025-04-07*

Some bugs and freezes. New Magic Mix is not working for downloaded songs and many other sources and filters.

### 3/5 — Poor navigation

*2025-01-06, version 3.5.3*

It’s an ok alternative to the built in music app. Unfortunately it inherits most of the flows from it as well. For example if you have an artist whos songs are in compilations you will not see them when you browse by the artist. Playlist folders are not properly nested, and so on.

### 4/5 — Fantastic except…

*2024-08-07, version 3.5.3*

Honestly really happy with this app so far, the only issue I have had so far is with the lyrics.

(Only tried on iPhone 15 Pro so far)

The Good:
- MAGIC MIX is absolutely awesome! Finally something that resembles smart playlists!
- The way the queue works is great. I love not having to fumble through a menu while I’m driving.
- Adding to playlists so is much easier.
- You can flip through the Coverflow view without skipping the current song! But if you do want to change songs the play button is right on the album art.
- Pull to reach is taking a bit to get used to but I’m really starting to like it. There is a con about it too see below.
- Changing default sort order by view, love having most recent playlists at the top. Most played songs on top. But I can still show artists in alphabetical order.

The Bad:
- There’s no way to set lyrics as the default view in the player.
- The small single line of lyrics under the song title is cool, but I’d much rather have the option to make it bigger and move it. There a ton of empty space between the player controls and the volume slider, move the controls down a bit, make the lyrics bigger and put them just below the album art.
- The sing along lyrics are a pain to access. You have to open the insight menu, tap the button, then tap Musixmatch from the share sheet.
- There’s a setting to enable/disable a lyrics button…I don’t see said button anywhere.
- Why no animated album art?
- No audio quality selection, at least not that I can find.
- What does Live Activity actually do? No matter if it’s on or off I notice no difference.
- Pull to Reach should be customizable. Pull to search I will be using every day. But pull for settings or notifications? I will literally never use that. And when it’s hit by accident it’ll just be frustrating.

There’s a ton of potential here, and it’s definitely better than any other iOS app I have tried for Apple Music. But there are definitely some things missing compared to some of the desktop apps like Cider.

### 3/5 — Not there yet

*2024-07-23, version 3.5.3*

I appreciate the idea and the UI work but the app is highly unstable and crashes really often - though the music is not impacted if you’re using Apple’s native player

### 2/5 — Potential.

*2024-07-18, version 3.5.4*

Great potential, but crash a a lot. Both desktop and phone.. Magic mix may be a good idea but crash the app when you dig in filters... or just trying to play it.

### 3/5 — I want to love this app…. but….

*2024-04-26, version 3.5.3*

It looks great, is nice to use and makes great suggestions based on what you listen to. But it just crashes out and freezes on a regular basis.
I’m running it on a 15 Pro, running the latest version of IOS 🤦🏻‍♂️

### 2/5 — It did work great

*2024-02-18, version 3.5*

It worked perfectly until today update. Now I can not play or shuffle play, from the songs section

### 5/5 — Beautiful app

*2023-03-15, version 3.0.2*

I only have three things that make this experience less then the apple music experience, ever other aspect about this app is so much better then the stock music app and Id highly recommend making the switch. I aware that two of my critiques might not be possible but non the less here they are:

1. I cant resume playing albums from the pop that appears when I put my AirPods in - from my experience it will only let me play from the Apple Music app (I use the “application player” style).

2. You cant delete songs from my playlists from the Soor app, you have to go into the apple music app and then find the song and delete it.

3. There is no dedicated search button within a playlist. if this in a feature that does get added please don't butcher it like apple did and only play the songs that showed up within the search criteria after playing the selected song. The whole reason I search within my playlists is to be able to play that specific song first then continue listening to the rest of my playlist.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Waste of Money

*2026-03-29, version 3.5.9*

I’ve downloaded and delete this app so many times trying to force myself to like it and just couldn’t use it for more than an hour.

### 1/5 — Constantly Crashes.

*2026-01-27, version 3.5.9*

Unusable. Can barley even add a song to a playlist without it crashing or simply not working.

Support doesn’t respond.

### 1/5 — Keeps Crashing

*2025-04-04, version 3.5.4*

No way to open it as it keeps crashing right away.

### 1/5 — Not working

*2024-02-12, version 3.0.2*

The app isn’t working, it won’t connect to lastfm 🤨 Emailed support, still waiting to hear back 😒

### 1/5 — Abandoned

*2024-02-09, version 3.0.2*

This app hasn’t been updated in over a year and in that time we had a whole new version of iOS plus several major updates which include significant updates and changes to Apple Music and with Soor not being update along side IOS and Apple Music means that this app no longer functions properly or interacts with Apple Music as it should. If someone still wants an alternative to Apple Music I would recommend Marvis. Unlike the Soor developers Marvis continues to respect his customers by communicating and keeping the product that his customers paid for up to date and working correctly.

### 1/5 — Beautiful but useless (DONT BUY)

*2024-01-08, version 3.0.2*

This app is a beautiful take on the Apple Music app but it is utterly useless it crashes constantly the UI bugs out all the time and it incredibly infuriating. It crashes for no reason.

### 1/5 — Buggy!

*2023-03-12, version 3.0.2*

Though this app provides some very much needed configuration option missing from Apple’s music app, it crashes constantly. That’s no fun

### 1/5 — BugApp

*2023-02-18, version 3.0.2*

App full of bugs on my iPhone 12.

### 1/5 — I wish Spotify is on here

*2023-02-07, version 3.0.2*

On the description of this app, it wrote 3rd party apps like Apple Music (and I supposed that Spotify will be included as it is also a 3rd party app), and I bought it, such a waste of money and u can create better widgets for Apple Music by using a app called widgy that is more customisable and fun to use

### 1/5 — Missing Songs and Lirics don’t match

*2023-01-23, version 3.0.2*

I find a lot of songs missing on search! On apple music the songs show but on soor not! The lirocs don’t match

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Anything but

*2026-02-24, version 3.5.4*

Anything is better than Apple Music. But Soor is a solid intuitive app in its own right. It connects the content but not the poor design of Apple Music.

### 5/5 — Wonderful app!!

*2025-04-05, version 3.5.7*

Could you add Recently added like Apple Music please?

### 5/5 — Local audio files

*2025-03-07, version 3.5.5*

I’d like the ability to play music that isn’t from Apple Music or iTunes 🙂

### 5/5 — Great third party UI for Apple Music

*2024-08-01, version 3.5.3*

I really love the design of the app and the magic mix feature, which allows you to create custom playlists. The only feature that appears to be missing is autoplay. You have to use the native Apple Music app to enable autoplay. Pleaseeee add autoplay. Thanks for the great app!

### 5/5 — Absolutely fantastic

*2024-03-31*

I was trying out multiple alternative players for apple music and this one is by far the best in terms of usability. I feel that stock apple music is extremely unappealing to use and this app feels way more thought through. My only complaint is the magic mix button which is left to play pause when you play a song. I don't use it ever and it would be great if I could hide it, other than that, great job 👍

### 5/5 — Apple Music Essential

*2024-02-17*

Diese App ist eine super Ergänzung zu Apple Music. Intuitive Steuerung, schönes Design und vor allem vielseitige Playlists. Empfehlenswert!

### 5/5 — Innovative and Intuitive

*2023-11-15, version 3.0.2*

As it says on the tin: Simply a beautiful music player, with functions that are not only innovative and smart, but, GASP, intuitive! I don’t understand why Apple Music doesn’t have the kind of facility ans ease of use this app does, but I am grateful that someone out there has created a modern music player that makes sense. There’s a couple more alternative players pushing the envelope, but Soor is a favorite and the ONLY one of its kind that has figured out how to design one-handed navigation. Apple would do well to hire and consult with this developer.

### 5/5 — Que aplicativo legal!

*2023-09-28*

### 5/5 — LOVE IT.

*2023-08-17, version 3.0.2*

Great Alternative to Apple Music and beautiful UI. I appreciate the transparency in the settings as well. I would just like request a True Black theme for the widgets as well. Keep up the great work and thank you for all you’ve done !

### 5/5 — This is what a Music app ought to be.

*2023-05-11, version 3.0.2*

Soor is such an impressive take on an iPhone music player, with some truly innovative ideas in navigation and UI. Apple, please take notice because this little developer blew your Music app away.
