It doesn’t even ask me for permission to use my location, and it doesn’t even show up in system settings. ### 4/5 — Sooshi *2017-10-27* Sooshi is a great application for those unfamiliar with the meal and what it requires in order to get the best results. The app is designed to educate users on the different types of sooshi, the preparation methods to use as well as the closest restaurants that serve the dish. The app also has a nice minimalist design with dark and bright color backgrounds which fit in with one's idea of the places that serve the dish. ### 4/5 — Nice *2016-02-15* Beautiful app (probably one of the most beautiful I've used on iOS), very informative (love the rice tutorial!).... Would have given 5 stars, but had problems with the restaurant finder. I live in Hammond, Indiana, and know for a fact that there's a few restaurants that serve and specialize in sushi in the area. The restaurants section found my local Yo! Sushi, but not the independent Sushi restaurant around the corner from it. It seems to currently be limited to info about fish, and only in Maki, Nigiri and Gunkanmaki form, and there's more variety of Sushi about than just that. It'd have been nice to have been able to learn more about the more unusual types of Sushi and how it is made, and maybe some other popular Japanese food that tends to get served at Sushi joints. The rice timer is a very nice touch. While beautiful to look at and quite informative I would like to see more in depth information in future releases. With proper care this app could be the best sushi app of the entire App Store. The sushi bar finder is nice, but Urban Spoon will give you the same info for free. I was disappointed with the total content and expected more from the app. I was then doubly disgusted when I got a bill for the app over a week later, considering I was under the impression that it was free. ### 1/5 — Horrible! *2014-03-15, version 1.2.0* This app crashes whenever I tap anywhere! If you think sushi is the fish shown and the few other oddments, you’re missing out on real sushi. And it says flat out it is iPad compatible. Maybe it it is. But’ it’s been flagged to to refuse to load on the iPad. Graphics are probably the issue and I’d love to see this on an iPad. And unless you live in very specific place the restaurants section is simply not. OK in SFran although it misses as much as it catches. And it somehow thinks there’s no place around me in S FL. Whereas there are dozens if not hundreds of good sushi sources down here. Total waste of $1.99 UNLESS you’re brand new to sushi and you live in San Fran or NYC. And even there you’re better served by the junk that is Zagat. ### 3/5 — Update Needed but Unlikely *2021-02-01, version 1.3.1* The app is gorgeous and *in general* functions very well. But the connection to the Foursquare API is dead and given it’s been 5-years since the last update, this is unlikely to be corrected. Worth getting to learn about sushi, but only partially useful to locate local sushi establishments. ### 3/5 — Attractive *2017-10-27* Unfortunately seems to not really offer an easy to use method of bringing up locations. Perhaps it’s only useful for those in Japan? ### 3/5 — Location error? *2017-10-26* I don't know why Google Places is the only location service this app uses, but it seems it is. The restaurant guide opens in Tokyo, and cannot be budged off. I don't know what the issue is, but it makes the guide useless, unless I want something like Google Places. I don't. I don't think I should have to. I don't even know what it is. The content looks beautiful, but I went right for the guide to see what might be there, and well, no go. Spectacular example of wonderful programming, gorgeous graphics, silky smooth interface, and useful information all beautifully presented. Slick indeed! (Even has a built-in Timer to cook your rice! ...Who knows what other surprises still to discover in the app.) Huge kudos to the Developer showing what can be done with a very tiny app that even still runs on iOS 6! (One glitch with Restaurant locations. The built-in Map feature - and a gorgeous one at that, super easy to read, even on the 4s - quickly shows all local sushi restaurant locations, but gives an "Failed to Fetch Data Error from FourSquare API" when click on a specific local restaurant in the list. Even with that glitch the App still shows the zoomed map location for that selected restaurant using that wonderful built-in map.
