### 4/5 — Bug with Swindlestone Game with the old man

*2024-08-04*

There is a bug that the writing is in white on a white background.

### 4/5 — Great game but…

*2024-05-20, version 1.3.3*

the text color for swindlestone on the ipad is bugged out where it’s white and you can barely read it. amazing game otherwise but i hope this will get fixed at some point!

### 4/5 — Bug with swindlestone text

*2021-07-16, version 1.3.3*

Great game so far, but there is a bug in Swindlestone where the text is illegible because it is white on a white background.

IPhone 6s, iOS 14.6

### 3/5 — :(

*2020-08-03, version 1.3.3*

Can’t call out in swindle stones :/

### 3/5 — No updates

*2019-08-04, version 1.3.2*

Game is great. Or Better to say, story is.

Not updated for newer devices.

No iCloud backup sync support. Can’t play between devices.

### 2/5 — Major step backwards from the first installment

*2018-05-28, version 1.3.2*

In the first installment, I felt as though I was really choosing my own adventure — there were so many things I knew I was missing as I blundered my way through which really made the game feel magical and unique, and made me want to replay it to see what I’d missed. In this one, you have to wander aimlessly through a city, covering every inching and getting thrown backwards or killed at any “wrong” step. You’re forced to collect 4 spell lines, ensuring that you experience the exact same things every time. I felt as though I was being railroaded by a storyteller who insisted on me playing through one particular story. What’s the point of a “choose your adventure” that forces you to choose the one right path?

### 4/5 — Please help!

*2018-01-26, version 1.3.2*

I am enjoying the game but I CANNOT FIND A WAY OUT of the red eye prison!! Please help me!

### 5/5 — Great Game

*2017-08-16, version 1.3.2*

I love that they give you the choice to continue the story or end it at the end.

### 5/5 — Can't put it down

*2017-07-03, version 1.3.2*

This is my first game of the Sorcery series and it was brilliant, creative, and addicting. Going to download the first now, and then all of them.

### 5/5 — Escapism at its finest!

*2017-05-19, version 1.3.2*

Couldn't put his down. As a big lover of the original books I feel lucky to have found this and been able to re-discover the fun. Thanks all.

### 5/5 — DA BEST

*2017-05-19, version 1.3.2*

It's the best game ever especially the gambling building and I know a way to never lose any tokens all you have to do is rewind a little bit whenever you lose and you never even lost! I would recommend this game to anyone.

### 5/5 — Amazing all together

### 5/5 — I like it

*2017-02-25, version 1.3.2*

### 5/5 — The Best!!!

*2017-02-15, version 1.3.2*

I don't usually do reviews, however, this story is by far the best game driven read out there! For a phone anyways!!

### 5/5 — Rivoluzionario

*2016-11-14, version 1.2.1*

Veramente entusiasmante e fedele al libro game. Non smetterei mai di giocarci.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Liar dice

*2022-09-17, version 1.3.3*

I can’t stand this game. I’m stuck with the old man in prison. Why is the old man so good at this. He doesn’t guess wrong. Also the text color is almost the same as the paper color. So I can’t even read wth the game is trying to tell me Weird mini game i hate it

Why can’t I cast dum on the old man in prison? And just beat him a few times and move on?

### 1/5 — Illogical, awkward, and too linear

*2018-07-11, version 1.3.2*

Based on the great reviews I read, I was really excited to play this game. However, after about 5 hours of playing, I’m perplexed why people rate this game so highly. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to the consequences of your actions (sometimes you make a seemingly logical choice and you die; others times you pick something whimsical and get rewarded with treasure). The spell book mechanics are awkward, forcing you to flip back and forth between menus to try to figure out which spell might help in a given situation. And the storyline is a bit too linear for my taste, not allowing you to go back and explore areas you have previously been too. Thank god I bought this game a couple years after it’s release, so I only wasted $5 on it. Avoid at all costs.

### 1/5 — Worst of all the Sorcery games

*2017-07-05, version 1.3.2*

Sorcery 1, 3, and 4 are all great and enjoyable games and stories but this has got to be the worst of them. It's just plain bad. It punishes any form of exploration and wastes your time over and over again.

### 1/5 — Annoying

*2017-02-05, version 1.3.1*

Didn't sign up for going through the game six times to find all the spell lines.

### 1/5 — Mediocre at best.

*2016-10-11, version 1.2.1*

Short, shallow, repetitive.

### 1/5 — 1985 called, it want's it's game back...

*2015-10-27, version 1.2.1*

This game is so bad, I paid for Wi-Fi access on my flight just to write this review...

Total piece of garbage. Text based adventure from 1985 where the "choices" make no difference- you lose your food, lose your health and die. Animation and graphics look like South Park circa 1998.

The magic system is so obtuse, you have to call up this inventory to try and figure out the three digit code for the spell (more like a password)- except you can't cast spells because this little Elf tags along with you and prevents you from casting spells (what a great idea!).

Steve Jackson made some OK games back in the 80's but they were always uninspired grinds, good to see that nothing's changed.

I bought the adventure pack, played through part of the first Sorcery!, deleted it, and deleted Sorcery! 2 without even trying it.

It's games like this that remind me why the Freemium model exists.

### 1/5 — Do not buy

*2014-12-31, version 1.1.4*

Overpriced nonsense. Beat off into a sock it's more fun.

### 1/5 — Very good game!

*2014-11-18*

But waiting for 3rd part is too long! I will change to 5 stars when you will release 3rd part of this beautiful interesting game.

### 1/5 — It's ok

*2013-12-10, version 1.1.2*

But sadly not as good as sorcery 1. I didn't read the original books, so all nostalgia aside, this game doesn't quite live up to the freedom of choice the first game offered. There's no real decision in the game, or paths to choose, as you end up doing all of it no matter what. So there's no replay value. in one play through you can explore every route and complete the whole thing... Hope sorcery 3 is better! Still, this is worth a play... Just not much replay value.

### 1/5 — Sun stone bug. Plz FIX!

*2013-12-03, version 1.1.2*

BUG!PLEASE FIX!!! The app is amazing, 5 stars all the way, I only gave it one star so that it could stand out, and get more attention. When you come across the statue and the hut on the main road, I cast a sus spell and go inside hut, clean out hut, return outside look at statue, cast law spell, have statue take off necklace, and then have statue kill himself. The description said that I picked up the sun jewel from the necklace and put it in my pack, but when I open my spell book, and inventory, the sun jewel is no where to be found, and my spell book still has "sun jewel required" for the sun spell still colored in red instead of black. I really love the game inkle, and would greatly appreciate it, if you fixed the bug, it's really bugging me. Please fix!

ITS SO GOOD

### 5/5 — Still a brilliant game

*2023-12-06, version 1.3.3*

It's December 2023 and this game still stands out. The story will pull you in and then it's hard to put down. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Exceptional!

*2021-09-04, version 1.3.3*

Amazing series, beautifully reimagined and so incredibly engaging! So happy to find this release!

### 5/5 — Сумулятор игры в кости

*2021-01-25*

Потратил на игры в кости со стариками и бомжами больше времени, чем на саму игру.

### 5/5 — My Top Favorite Game

*2019-12-12, version 1.3.3*

I am a magick fan and strategy lover. Not to mention when you give me a game that is good and well made. It will be an instant legend and always be played.

More than likely you could play this game ten times over and not see the same thing twice. It’s a very thought immersing, sophisticated, well put together and designed strategy game.

The story, characters, lore, the items even are memorable, and the places you have traveled definitely will give you either fond memories or bad memories.

Those memories and feelings can change quickly for one event that was previously not explored, or even a spell, or a different conversation can and will result in different reactions.

I have so far, gotten through Sorcery One and half through Sorcery two, I did try Sorcery three and stopped to finish the second. I can’t wait to finish them all and play again.

You do not need thought provoking applications or memories and brain enhancing apps. Strategy, euphoria, thinking five, six and sometimes well ahead, while being mindful to a common person and just as cautious with what appears benign, but being open to take risks progress you in so many facets and ways in your mind and the game.

It is in many senses, almost a game that can be utilized as a very seldom life experience for real life. Always be careful in all situations but live your life and have fun always while listening to all your senses and feelings.

Your mind is the present, logic, and memories or reason. Your heart is what guides you and the present moment to always be aware of and follow. Your gut is instinct and the future.

Always remember that and it will be understood in time to know if your heart and mind are being tricked by something you can’t see if your gut is telling you no. Or if your gut says yes and your heart is weary is only telling you to proceed guarded but with courage. Always rationalize and never listen to anything but your internal voice. If it doesn’t feel right. It’s not.

I guess I’ve been playing this game too much. Well. Back to it. Thank you!!!!

### 5/5 — Exceptional

*2018-02-07, version 1.3.2*

I went over the four apps in my review of the first book, I’ll just add a few things. Again Inkle has enhanced an old, classic gamebook and created a fantastic game. This second volume is far superior to the first one—it takes a long time to understand what’s going on, to gather all the clues that you need to succeed, although it is also the continuation of the previous volume. It can seem sometimes it will be difficult to finish it but it is never impossible, and the rich universe that lies behind the story is full of mysteries and twists and keeps you involved. A must-have.

### 5/5 — Awesome.

*2017-09-27, version 1.3.2*

I thought the first chapter was kind of short (finished in a day), but this one kept me entertained for at least a week. There's a specific objective in this one which is more challenging than the straight-forward journey of the first chapter, and this one also introduces a neat mini game that will keep you occupied for a while

### 5/5 — Favourite sorcery game

*2017-09-10, version 1.3.2*

Play every sorcery but this one is the most complex and fun in my opinion

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2017-08-27, version 1.3.2*

One of the few mobile adventure games I've played and couldn't put down. Rich lore, strong writing, and some smart elements of game design make for one amazing ride. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — More please

*2017-08-21, version 1.3.2*

I'd like more dungeon crawling treasure hunting stories after these 4 games
