## What is SOS Safe Ride?

A nonprofit designated driving program created by The Safe Ride Foundation of Frederick County Maryland, our area's only 501(c)3 anti-drunk driving organization.  

Two friendly volunteer drivers arrive, one drives you home in your vehicle while the other follows.  That's it!

Founded in 2016, SOS Safe Ride has now prevented over 19,000 DUI offenses in Frederick County as it celebrates over a decade of volunteer service to our area.


## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 4.0 — 2026-08-14

Branding (closes #719, #720) — ~25 user-facing strings standardized on the client-confirmed convention: SOS Safe Ride for brand-identity surfaces (iOS launcher name, MaterialApp.title, web title/manifest, Stripe merchant name, system toasts) and Safe Ride for in-app prose (permission prompts, dialogs, errors, share text). Web title/manifest descriptions replaced the Flutter boilerplate. The driver toast dropped "Payment processed." since completion is being decoupled from payment in backend#640. Documented exclusions preserved: #SafeRide hashtag, the 'SafeRide Ride' analytics dimension, FacebookDisplayName, the saferide URL scheme, and Dart identifiers.

### 3.9 — 2026-07-28

Fixed terminal session expiry; unrecoverable auth now logs out cleanly.
Shared refresh coordinator prevents refresh races and zombie sessions.
Web prompts reload when a newer app build is deployed.
Improved auth flow, logout reliability, and session expiry messaging.
Added comprehensive tests; version bumped to 1.0.5+416.

JWT enhancements to ensure consistent logins.

  • Vehicle transmission simplified to Automatic/Manual
  • Reliability & password-reset fixes

### 3.6 — 2026-07-14

- First 1.0 release with updated app icon and polished splash screen.
- Stability improvements fixing unexpected logouts, dispatcher issues, and profile editing bugs.
- Discounted fares now display correctly for passengers throughout the app.
- Simplified vehicle setup with streamlined transmission options and clearer ride status.
- Quality improvements with a fully passing test suite and zero analyzer issues.
