Easy to use and well designed. There are a few things that would make it even better for my use. First, I would like to see the same filters currently available for Spots come to the Alerts page. You can currently filter spots by things like band, mode, and distance (excellent), but cannot filter alerts by anything except a text search. I would also love to see a distance filter come to notifications. You can currently trigger notifications by band, mode, association, and callsign, but not by distance. As a currently HT-only op, I would love to have a “less than 60 miles away” notification trigger. I currently use HamAlert to accomplish this, but it requires summit references to be manually entered in a big list, which is cumbersome. If SOTA Goat can add the same distance filter from the spots page to notification settings, it would be perfect. Adding a distance in miles to the notification text would also be great! ### 4/5 — awesome, must-buy for SOTA ops *2023-08-22* Very nice, thank you! Only thing I wish for as a potential improvement would be the ability to filter Spots to show just certain region, mode, or maybe even distance too (e.g. normally I am only hoping to hunt nearby summits on 2m simplex FM with my yagi). Otherwise, amazing piece of software!! also, thank you for supporting older iOS as my device is quite old. ### 4/5 — Just a couple of minor tweaks away from being the perfect SOTA companion *2022-10-29* Love the app and use it for every SOTA. Two complaints: 1. The band selector scroll wheel on the Spots screen is terrible on my iPhone 12. I can't see what band is selected because the lower window covers up the scroll wheel. I have to use SOTA Watch to spot as a workaround. 2. I wish I could filter alerts and spots. I'm only FM for now, so the long list of foreign and HF alerts and spots is just clutter for me. Awesome app. Keep the updates coming! 73 ### 4/5 — Great app, really useful for SOTA *2022-09-26* I like this app. It’s great for SOTA, whether you’re an activator or a chaser. As an activator, it helps to find and get to the correct location for activation. As a chaser, it notifies you of spots. What I would like to see, is an ability to go from the summit card directly to the map, then directly to the tracker. Other than that, it’s pretty much perfect! 5* is above changes made. ### 4/5 — Great but Lacking Filters *2021-12-19* This app is a fantastic SOTA tool. If it had the ability to filter alerts/spots by association and/or other data points it would be 5 star perfect. ### 4/5 — “New Alert” Function - Errors - Ver 1.6.3 *2021-09-26, version 1.6.3* I am not complaining here, just sharing. On 9/25/2021 using version 1.6.3 on iOS 15, I tried to create a New Alert, filled in the information, and clicked save. In addition, some nice new features have been added such as customizable push notifications and a Summit Tracker that reports straight line distance to the summit. I highly recommend this program. The filtering is especially useful. ### 5/5 — Activators “must have” app *2020-04-01* I’ve been using Sotagoat for several years now. It’s really intuitive to use and packed with useful features. I like the “find local summits” especially when on holiday and it’s so easy to self spot too. Now with new updates, I especially like the summit tracker facility. This app is very good value for money and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it for anyone active in SOTA. I am really disappointed. ### 1/5 — Crash crashy *2023-06-03* The last update appears to be over 2 years ago so I’m assuming this is abandon-ware. It crashes after a few taps on my iPhone 14 pro running iOS 16.5 **Would not recommend until the author adds basic filtering and fixes the constant crashing.** ### 1/5 — Can’t login and no support *2019-08-30* Created login with SOTA watch (3 as 2 is no longer accepting new members...why 3 sites??). Anyway, can’t log in through app to create spots using my SOTA watch 3 username/password. Emailed provider WW1X to advise but email address he provided in app and WW1X website bounces. It’s better just to log on to the SOTA watch web site directly. SOTA Goat funktioniert zuverlässig für die Live-Ansicht von Alerts und Spots und die Push-Benachrichtigungen sind sehr hilfreich. Leider sind die Gipfellisten (Summit Codes) seit der großen SOTA-Umstrukturierung Ende 2024 nicht mehr aktuell. Einige Berge zeigen falsche oder ungültige Codes, und beim Suchen erscheinen teilweise ganz andere Gipfel. Es wäre schön, wenn die Summit-Datenbank wieder aktualisiert oder regelmäßig synchronisiert würde, damit die App auch für die Planung und das Nachschlagen der richtigen Gipfelcodes voll nutzbar ist. Sometimes on a peak I forget it's designator; I consult the app. The peak compass and the remaining distance read outs help me avoid false summits. These features work when you're out of cell phone data coverage, because of the downloaded database. Well worth the price.
