### 3/5 — App needs improving

*2026-08-19, version 3.0.18 432*

First off I love listening to the DCC story through this app it’s a great way to experience it a second time and it’s very cinematic

The app itself has some problems while the actual sound and audio itself is great

-Sometimes the app fails to load or loads slowly
- the bookmark feature that I love to mark 15 second clips is not present. The app itself has said it’ll be a feature soon
-sometimes the app doesn’t actually timestamp where I finished listening to and instead will default back to the second last time I listened , like it wasn’t saving my listening progress

### 4/5 — DCC Alone makes it worth it

*2026-08-14, version 3.0.18 432*

While there are some minor glitches and slow loading, I am having so much fun with the content that I find all that secondary. Keep tweaking to get it buttery smooth, but for now…thank you!

### 3/5 — Start up

*2026-08-13, version 3.0.18 432*

Opening of the app is very slow.

### 2/5 — Great content but buggy app

*2026-08-13, version 3.0.18 432*

First of all I have to say that the books I’ve tried have been very well done and are well worth the cost. Unfortunately the app itself needs work. It starts slow, stops playing randomly, and sometimes doesn’t automatically play the next chapter. I listen to audio books when I’m doing other things like chores or driving so I really don’t like to be fumbling with the app. Oh and it doesn’t seem to support car play.

### 3/5 — Great content, but app is very buggy

*2026-08-10, version 3.0.18 432*

Lots of playback issues and crashing within the app, which takes away from some of the excellent content.

### 3/5 — Good Content, Mediocre App

*2026-08-05, version 3.0.18 432*

As far as the content goes, I’ve been really pleased; I’ve really enjoyed the Dungeon Crawler Carl Audio Immersion Tunnel, and am looking forward to more of it coming out.

It’s very disappointing to me, however, that the content is locked inside this app. The app is serviceable but not a great experience. It takes a very long time to load, which is annoying when I am just trying to resume the content I already have downloaded; it seems like they fetch their content for sale before allowing you to access the content you already have, and that process is not a quick one. There are also various bugs that make it confusing to use; for example, skipping to the next chapter continues to show the title of the current chapter, making it unclear whether it actually skipped forward or backward.

### 2/5 — App needs work

*2026-08-02, version 3.0.18 432*

This by no means is a review of the product they create. I love the audiobooks and the great production quality. That being said the app is horrible. I lost count of the amount of times the book I was listening to would just stop for no reason. Now I can’t even access any of the books I bought or search for things I actually want to listen to. I recommend checking out their library…but maybe when the app is actually useful.

### 3/5 — Stories Great- App functionality is iffy

*2026-07-31, version 3.0.18 432*

The app glitches all the time. Would give five stars to the performances. Make the app less glitchy and I will update my review and give more stars.

### 3/5 — No bookmarks?!

*2026-07-27, version 3.0.18 432*

Thank you for not collecting data.

It’s nice to have access to new and interesting audiobooks/audio theater, but YIKES on the interface. No bookmarks?! Why does it take so long to load every time it’s launched? And it’s remarkably challenging to figure out where I am in the book - which doesn’t help compensate for the lack of bookmarks.

### 2/5 — Downloaded..... but you need internet to listen?

*2026-07-27, version 3.0.18 432*

The production is flawless. The app.... falls off a cliff. You can't listen to downloaded content offline.? What's the point in downloading it? And the "hang tight" goes wild long.

### 2/5 — Download & Purchase Issues - No family Sharing

*2026-07-27, version 3.0.18 432*

I enjoy the content but the management and download of purchased content is poor. I allowed my son to buy a season and it didn’t download, but I got billed. It’s a bit frustrating, hoping second day of trying to troubleshoot with customer service will resolve the issue.

### 3/5 — Amazing content! But the app needs serious optimization.

*2026-07-20, version 3.0.18 432*

Love the Dungron Crawler Carl series and been following all the episodes! My only gripe is the app is VERY slow to load. Sometimes it won’t even boot up and just freezes opening. Shouldn’t have to close and reopen the app 5 times just to start listening again. Easy 5 star rating once this gets fixed.

### 4/5 — Better now

*2026-07-18, version 3.0.18 432*

They seemed to have fixed some issues.

### 3/5 — Slow software

*2026-07-14, version 3.0.17 426*

Ummmm. Developers please fix this sloooooow app. I know they pay you guys well. Other than that great stories!

### 3/5 — Great Listens But App Needs Improvement

*2026-07-13, version 3.0.17 426*

The books offered are phenomenally narrated! However I have nothing but trouble with the app itself. I would love to see it on Apple CarPlay. Additionally the biggest issue I have is pausing a book and coming back to it later. It saves my spot sometimes, but other times when I reopen the app, it starts from the next chapter a few minutes in or a few minutes behind where I was. It’s very inconsistent.

### 3/5 — Reliability

*2026-07-07, version 3.0.17 426*

As always the performances and books are incredible, but the app itself isn’t that great. It constantly tells me my session expired while I’m mid-listen. On top of that it very frequently will randomly just pause itself despite having the book I’m listening to being downloaded.

### 2/5 — Stories are great; app itself is terrible.

*2026-07-01, version 3.0.17 426*

App crashes, buggy as hell, and the UI is barely functional.

### 2/5 — Good content, terrible app

*2026-07-01, version 3.0.17 426*

The content is great, but the app design is so frustrating. The thing takes FOREVER to load, the layout is unintuitive, downloading and deleting files is a pain, and randomly the app just won’t work!

### 4/5 — Content Great App Needs Work

*2026-06-29, version 3.0.17 426*

The content on this app is amazing. The cinematic audio book quality is top notch and very immersive. You can tell the people working on these projects are extremely passionate about their craft.

The app itself needs work in areas. The number one issue is that the app takes forever to open/load. Outside of that I have some minor qualms: overall navigation / UI could use some improvements. I wish the app was optimized to show up on my car dash when using Car Play (it shows once you play from phone, but it’s not selectable as an app on the dash before then).

### 4/5 — Cannot always open while offline

*2026-06-28, version 3.0.17 426*

Sometimes it’s weird when trying to open the app. When you DO have a connection it can take ages to get started to play anything.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Great books Terrible app

*2026-08-10, version 3.0.18 432*

Guys seriously. Get a developer and tester that know what they are doing. Your books are great - I love them. Your app makes me want to tear off my own arm and beat myself to death with it.

Seriously. You need to fix it.

### 1/5 — Good but bad

*2026-08-07, version 3.0.18 432*

First off, The content is great! App sucks A**. Quits playing randomly, doesn’t continue after chapters. Makes you refresh your session for some reason. Freezes. Have to force close and reopen the app to get it to play and the list continues.

### 1/5 — Very slow to launch, can’t use it offline

*2026-08-03, version 3.0.18 432*

I really enjoy Jeff Hays’ narration and most D&D litRPG. However, the Soundbooth app has a few critical issues that make it hard to use or enjoy.

1. Whenever you launch the app, it takes a long time before you can continue playing. I’m not sure if it’s authenticating, trying to sync with your last played location, or something else. But it would be great if the app launch and usage could be instant.

2. The app doesn’t show the remaining duration of the book playing. It only shows the remaining duration of the current chapter, not the book as a whole. Unless you go to the library and download section.

3. I can’t use the app in offline mode at all. I went on a camping trip and was looking forward to finishing a few stories. But since the camp ground had hardly any mobile signal, I couldn’t use the app or play the already downloaded stories.

4. If the app needs to authenticate, it should have a range duration that accounts must be authenticated at least once a week, rather than every time you use it.

I hope developers are working to address these issues.

### 1/5 — Horrible app

*2026-08-02, version 3.0.18 432*

My favorite book on here so I want to check it out. Other than that I will not think twice about getting this app. Loading is forever. Once you stop playing too long you have to reload but first have to close the open first or it won’t load. Not like audible app remain there and you can listen any time by taping you ear piece.

### 1/5 — Fun, until it stops

*2026-07-29, version 3.0.18 432*

The audiobooks are entertaining, but labeling is confusing. They do it as seasons and episodes, not book and chapters.
Also, they never finished the entire book series that has been out for a few years and it appears the last season/episode only stopped by book 5.
If they are not going to complete entire book series, when why purchase anything from them?
I can’t recommend due to these two things, especially the part of never completing a series, which is the entire story…
Guess going back to audible.

### 1/5 — Can’t open app

*2026-07-25, version 3.0.18 432*

Can’t even open the app without an “Anonymous user login error”

### 1/5 — Non functional

*2026-07-07, version 3.0.17 426*

I downloaded the app and it won’t even launch

### 1/5 — This app is a mess

*2026-07-02, version 3.0.17 426*

Why does it take 7-10 business days for the app to open? It’s very sluggish when navigating the app also.

### 1/5 — App is Trash. Content is Gold.

*2026-07-01, version 3.0.17 426*

Constantly disconnect constantly goes into loading screens… If this doesn’t get fixed soon all the content that is golden. It’s just gonna be wasted..

### 1/5 — Awful app. Why is it so bad?!

*2026-06-25, version 3.0.17 426*

Takes 20-30 seconds to load each time. Difficult to navigate, slow, stops playing. No reason why an app should be this bad in 2026.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Doesn’t profit off of user data

*2026-08-17, version 3.0.18 432*

I’ll give five stars to any app that focuses on user experience vs mining user data to package and sell.

### 5/5 — Glorious content, most recent update fixed nearly every issue I’d had.

*2026-06-26, version 3.0.17 426*

Let’s get this out of the way: the Dungeon Crawler Carl Audio Immersion Tunnel is a greater thing than sliced bread. I can slice my own bread, but damn if that thing isn’t a phenomenal work of collaborative art. If you haven’t listened to it, go buy it now.

What Jeff Hays and the team at SBT are doing is pretty incredible. Their mission is a worthy cause to support, and most of the content is impressively low-priced for the production quality and volume. The catalog available here continues to expand all the time, and I feel good about the fact that I’m using a small platform that connects me more closely with the actual content creators.

Prior to the most recent update I had definitely noticed some funkiness at times with playback; random pauses, app crashes while in the background, difficulty starting playback. But the most recent update seems to have resolved all of that, and I haven’t had any notable issues since.

### 5/5 — Only way I want to listen!

*2026-06-25, version 3.0.17 426*

I am loving the Dungeon Crawler Carl adaptation! I read the books and had done audible but Soundbooth has really stepped up with the extra material and effects. Jag Barth and Shrek. Keep me laughing! Keep it up boys.
There are a couple tiny glitches with the app, but I’m sure they will get worked out.

### 5/5 — Worth it

*2026-06-22, version 3.0.17 426*

My first and likely only review of any app. SoundBooth Theater does an amazing job and I highly encourage anyone on the fence to give it a shot. Very entertaining, great sound effects and narration. To those complaints about the app cutting out… Mongo is appalled.

### 5/5 — Changed my mind on Audio Dramas

*2026-06-01, version 3.0.16 420*

I’ve tried listening to “audio dramas” before, and despite being a big fan of audiobooks and podcasts, I was surprised how much I did NOT care for them. The ones I tried (even if they included big name actors and/or IP) always felt cheesy and just…distracting, or hard to get into compared to a regular audiobook.

I found Soundbooth via DUNGEON CRAWLER CARL (of course), and I was shocked to discover how fun, immersive, and addictive an audio drama can really be.

Somehow Mr. Hays and his team cracked the code on how to enhance the story without intruding on or overpowering it. It really feels like an audiobook turned up to 11, rather than a bad attempt at “listening to a TV show,” as others always felt to me.

Anyway, despite a couple of wonky playback issues that were easily fixed (and hopefully just patched), the experience of listening on Soundbooth is new and exciting to me. I look forward to finishing the DCC series, and seeing what else Soundbooth has to offer.

### 5/5 — Absolutely love this

*2026-04-10*

I’ve listened to dungeon crawler Carl series on audible 3 times through now and decided to give this a try. Absolutely worth every penny. Definitely recommend listening on audible first before going down this route but for those who cannot get enough of DCC this is absolutely amazing. It is almost as if I am listening to a show on TV playing in another room it feels so real. I can picture every happening almost as if I was watching it on television. It does take some getting used to as some of the voices change with introduction of a cast of new voice actors. But the key things for me like Carl, Donut, and most importantly… the AI keep their same voice. Bravo well done. I will continue preordering each season as they release and hopefully they can catch up to where we are currently in the series.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for sharing this, we’re thrilled to hear how much you’re enjoying the Immersion Tunnel experience.

### 5/5 — Great production… bad app

*2026-04-06, version 3.0.14 394*

Love what they’re doing. The books are amazing. The app however is sooo buggy

### 5/5 — Love Soundbooth, great app.

*2026-03-27, version 3.0.14 394*

Straightforward UI and love supporting Soundbooth’s projects. Truly some of the most talented narrators on the planet.

### 5/5 — Everything is AMAZING!

*2026-03-21*

I consume SO MUCH SBT content. The bones at point no point, kaiju battlefield surgeon, and of course DCC. The immersive audiobook format is wonderful, and the work SBT puts out is definitely some of the best out there. Ive had a few issues here and there with the content loading, but usually closing and reopening the app fixes most of them! Of course im going to keep supporting them and hope they can get their site fixed

**Developer response:** Thanks for the support and for being such a dedicated listener! We’re so happy you’re loving the stories, but we’re sorry the app is giving you a hard time. We are constantly improving the app and we too hope that it will all be fixed soon. Please reach out to us at help@soundbooth.app when you are having these issues."

### 5/5 — Love Soundbooth!

*2026-03-18*

I love audiobooks. I have listened to well over two hundred books in the sci-fi/RPG/fantasy genre. I almost always wonder what a staged reading would sound like if they were reading it. Soundbooth does that! It’s great! I highly recommend it. If you’re wondering if it’s worth it, there many free listens, including DCC!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the support! We’re so happy you’re loving the productions.
