## What is SoundLens?

You're covering a song. You can hear exactly what the guitar is doing - that shimmer, that slap, that swell. You just have no idea what it's called, so you can't search for it, and you can't recreate it.

SoundLens is a field guide to that problem.

HEAR THE DIFFERENCE, DON'T READ ABOUT IT
93 audio effects, each one playable on real instrument recordings - electric and acoustic guitar, bass, drums, piano, organ, strings, synth pad, and vocals. Tap dry, tap wet, hear the difference immediately. No theory lecture, no waveform diagrams. Just the sound.

KNOW WHAT YOU'RE ACTUALLY HEARING
Every effect explains what it does and when it's used, in one plain paragraph. Each entry also tells you what it's commonly confused with - chorus vs. flanger, reverb vs. delay, compression vs. limiting - and exactly how to tell them apart by ear. That confusion is the whole reason you couldn't name the sound in the first place.

BUILD THE CHAIN
The Playground lets you stack effects into a signal chain, drag to reorder them, and hear the result in real time. Order matters - put the reverb before the distortion and hear why. Adjust parameters live, slide between fully dry and fully processed to A/B the whole chain, and save the chains that work.

ASK WHEN YOU'RE STUCK
Describe what you hear in plain language - "that warbly guitar in 80s ballads," "surfy wet twang" - or name the song. Ask identifies the likely effects, explains why it sounds that way,

HONEST ABOUT ITS OWN LIMITS
A handful of effects are approximations of the real hardware, and SoundLens says so on the entry itself rather than pretending otherwise. This is a learning tool, not a mastering suite.
