## What is SoundMaster Pro?

Sound Master — acoustic measurement for live-sound engineers: sound level meter, spectrum analyser, RT60, system response and speaker delay alignment. Usable results in seconds, in the field, offline and with no account.

Built for the field Sound techs, system engineers, installers: every tool answers a real situation — finding a hole in the response before the audience arrives, checking an RT60, aligning a delay tower, tuning a system. Mic-based readings are indicative, not calibrated: a field tool, not a lab.

On iPhone and iPad Real-time sound level meter in decibels. Real-time spectrum analyser, full-resolution FFT or octave bands from 1/1 to 1/12, with peak hold and RMS curve. RT60 measurement (T20 method). Signal generator (sine, white noise, pink noise, log sweep). Swept system response. Speaker delay alignment. Saved captures that can be compared against each other and exported to PDF.

On Mac — additionally A Mac has an audio interface plugged into it, and the Mac edition uses it.

Live mode: meter, analyser and spectrogram side by side in one window, each panel resizable and adjustable on its own. dB A and dB C over fifteen minutes, microphone calibration, limits that turn red when exceeded, a trend indicator. Session recording to PDF minute by minute, and instant screen capture to PDF.

Input routing: each bus is assigned to any input of any device, from inside the app. The MIC bus carries the measurement — it is what the meter, the analyser and the spectrogram all read. The optional REF bus carries the reference signal and appears as an extra curve on the analyser with its own scale, draggable so it can be laid over the measurement for comparison.

The two buses can come from two different boxes: the app builds its own private aggregate device with clock drift correction, adding nothing to your system settings and never touching Audio MIDI Setup.

Subscription Free trial, then subscription. The subscription is shared across iPhone, iPad and Mac — one purchase covers all your devices. On Mac there is no ad-supported free tier.

About level readings The meter gives working figures for the sound engineer, dependent on your microphone's calibration. It is not a regulatory sound level meter: a legally valid measurement requires a class 1 or 2 instrument per IEC 61672. In a venue subject to noise regulation, the venue's own system is what counts.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.1.0 — 2026-08-26

Mac edition.

• Live mode: meter, analyser and spectrogram in one window, resizable panels, dB A and dB C over fifteen minutes, calibration, limits and a trend indicator
• Session recording to PDF and instant screen capture
• Per-bus input routing, onto any input of any device — including two different interfaces at once
• Reference curve on the analyser, with its own scale and adjustable placement
• Measurement captures in the analyser, comparable and exportable to PDF

On iPhone and iPad: comparable measurement captures, PDF export, and layout fixes in portrait orientation.

• Reliability: four measurements returned confident, plausible, wrong numbers — fixed, verified in the field against a tape measure, covered by 227 automated tests.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-08-13

Fixed the home screen layout on some iPhones, where the tools were shown in a single column.
No more ads during the free trial period.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-08-12

Fixes an issue that prevented subscribing.
The suggestion form and the update sign-up work again.
Tap outside a field to dismiss the keyboard — handy on small screens.
The spectrum analyzer now shows the raw curve by default (0 dB/oct tilt).
Clearer message when microphone access is denied.
