### 5/5 — Nicely done app

*2013-08-11, version 1.3*

While I have no test equipment with certified calibration for comparison, I've found the readings to match verbal descriptions of various noise levels closely, e.g., "library" or "chain saw at 3 ft". The app provides a variety of information in addition to raw dB level, including spectrum and safe exposure duration data. Controls are fairly intuitive, and the display is well thought out. If you need such an app, this one is, in my opinion, well worth getting.

Great app especially when you're worried about your declining hearing. Had my daughter download one as well when she was convinced that working at a club would not affect her ears. Great for prevention and mitigation.

### 5/5 — Good app!

*2012-12-20, version 1.0*

If you listen to music a lot or use your iPhone for call, you maybe doing damage to your hearing already by listening too loud. Use the app to learn about hearing level. This is the best one of this type of app!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Sad!

*2017-03-27, version 1.9*

This app is very bad! Sad! I want my money back! There is no way to set a max dB level! Sad!

### 1/5 — App does not work

*2016-10-11, version 1.7*

App does not work

### 1/5 — Crap!

*2015-11-12, version 1.5*

Fix for ios9 please!

### 4/5 — Very good app

*2015-05-30, version 1.5*

I don't understand all of the controls, but this app is very helpful for me to see how noisy things are army house.

### 4/5 — Useful!

*2013-09-03, version 1.4*

Great app for determining hazardous noise levels (and most of the time you don't realize the noise level is hazardous - which makes this app a must!)
I recommend that the ability to "save" the current noise level (with the ability to add a note referencing where I was at the time). Emailing a snap of the level is ok, but I really don't care to email it to myself for historical records.

### 4/5 — Excellent Value

*2013-03-26, version 1.2*

Beyond testing for hearing impact this is really a very good audio analysis tool for very small investment as it includes basic spectrum analysis capabilities along with the usual SPL capabilities. Charge just a little more and add reporting capability and you've got 5 stars plus.

### 4/5 — Good baseline

*2013-02-22, version 1.2*

This is an excellent base lining tool. A benefit would be adding a record and email results facility.

### 4/5 — Nice

*2012-12-21, version 1.0*

Logging and log file export would be nice :)

### 5/5 — Great

*2020-12-29, version 2.0*

This is a great little app easy to understand and given me peace of mind in many situations. Thanks.

### 5/5 — Useful tool for citizen action

*2018-08-30, version 1.9*

I used this handy tool with easy-to-understand display to persuade a movie theater manager to lower assaultive sound levels of movie trailers. My awareness of hearing conditions was raised by a friend who suffers from hyperacousis. I’m now more proactive in protecting my hearing.

### 5/5 — Unexpected Features

*2017-04-26, version 1.9*

The encyclopedic level of information about hearing loss and hearing protection included with this app was a pleasant surprise! Want to know about the anatomy and physiology of the ear? Feel like perusing OSHA tables on decibel levels? Need a comprehensive description of hearing protection devices? Just hit the little "i" in the bottom left corner! And this cornucopia of knowledge serves a purpose: It enables you to better interpret and understand the wealth of data the app calculates. Of course, this assumes you have some familiarity with and an appreciation of apps that almost inundate you with facts and figures, and that the process of parsing such information is in your wheelhouse. If not, you may want a more simplified app.

### 5/5 — Rating

*2016-09-21, version 1.7*

I really like this app. It is easy to use and correlates very close with my commercial sound meter.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2015-11-21, version 1.6*

I really like this. Very easy to use and understand. Helps keep my hearing in good shape.

### 5/5 — Simple and easy to use with accurate readings

*2015-11-20, version 1.6*

I have used this app for quite awhile and was disappointed when it wouldn't work on my new iPhone 6s. I contacted the author and he fixed the problem. I'm very pleased and can recommend this app to anyone who wants/needs to sample sound.

### 5/5 — Excellent App. Even Better Tech Support

*2015-11-20, version 1.6*

App works as advertised. What makes it great is the extremely helpful tech support provided by Auralware. This app has my highest recommendation.

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2015-11-01, version 1.5*

I love the features, and it's accurate according to my hardware meter which is important. The one change that would be awesome to have is if it would stop the iPhone from going to sleep during operation. Other than that, which is late, I highly recommend this app.

### 5/5 — This is an excellent app.

*2014-06-02, version 1.4*

I am currently using this app for a sound study outdoors having to do with Pickle-ball noise levels in a park over periods of time. With this app, we will be able to conclude that the noise from this sport will comply with county minimum DbA standards within the distance to neighboring homes.
I am using the DociMeter for this study and find that I would like to plug noise canceling headphones into the iPad and be able to hear what the computer is analyzing. To do that, there should be a volume slider on the screen.
Also, it would be good to be able to completely pause the analyzing process to allow for extraneous loud noises not to be measured if desired. In my case, cars and trucks are not a factor in this study.
I also suggest that data storage files be made available in addition to the email feature.
It's already five stars...How about going for six?
