### 1/5 — Doesn't stop

*2017-04-18, version 1.2.0*

While using the app, it does not allow you to navigate through without the instruments automatically play in the background. I wanted it as an educational tool for a classroom, but it does not allow room for exploration or proper examples.

### 1/5 — only synthesizer sounds!

*2014-09-17, version 1.2.0*

Don't buy! The sounds are not from real instruments, they are cheap synthetic sounds. They don't sound like the real instruments.

### 1/5 — Awful Midi sounds ruin an otherwise good program

*2012-03-06, version 1.0.1*

This would be a good program...if it used real orchestra sound samples, rather than canned midi sounds. It really shouldn't cost anything to use real instrumental sound samples. And maybe use samples from excerpts that actually feature the instrument, instead of having everyone play the Nutcracker or Carmen, etc.

### 1/5 — Ugh.

*2011-09-11, version 1.0.1*

The sound samples are the worst midi you can imagine. I totally can't use this in my classroom. What a waste of money. Crap.

### 1/5 — Shoddy

*2011-07-11, version 1.0*

The use of poor midi files instead of instrument samples renders this useless. A lost opportunity.

### 1/5 — Don't waste your money

*2011-05-01, version 1.0*

Obviously fake computerized instrumental sounds. Some instruments just sound wrong. I believe they reversed clarinet and oboe. Information about the instruments on learn mode is weak - doesn't even play the sounds for you. Could have been so much better if the programmers had it tested by actual music teachers.

### 2/5 — Sounds Of The Orchestra

*2010-12-16, version 0*

This was a disappointing purchase. I am a professional musician and bought this for my grandchildren and as a reference for my children's choirs if needed. The majority of the instruments do NOT sound like the instrument it represents. I tried playing the match game where you match the picture with the sound. I missed lots of them because I couldn't tell what instrument was playing! I think I wasted my money!

### 2/5 — Disappointing

*2010-09-28*

I was so excited to buy an app that would teach our 6 year old, who lives in a Jazz/Rock household, the sounds of a conventional orchestra. Imagine our disappointment when we listened to the synthesized sounds and not the sounds of the actual instruments. This has limited value for us I'm afraid.

### 3/5 — Needs more to do

*2013-11-01, version 1.1*

I like the straight-forward simplicity of this app. But 4-5 more interactive games would be a needed addition to round this app out. Also, some basic history about the orchestra would be a nice touch as well. Otherwise, great concept for young children learning about the orchestra.

### 3/5 — Good start

*2011-06-05, version 1.0*

Would be great if it was accurate, but I suspect some of the sounds are synthesised rather than sampled, which is a great shame and a lost opportunity. Can the developers change this?
Also the oboe and clarinet sounds are switched, which needs addressing please. But the concept is excellent and it looks good and is very intuitive too, so I look forward to some improvements (please).

### 5/5 — Amazing All Around

*2021-06-24, version 1.3.0*

This is my 4yo son’s favorite app. He loves music and orchestra instruments, and there are just not many apps out there geared toward that age group. This one is amazing and the customer support is also amazing. They are quick to respond and happy to help.

### 5/5 — Love This App!

*2012-07-03, version 1.1*

This is a great introduction to the orchestra. My four-year old is learning the names and sounds of each instrument, and enjoys guessing which instrument is played on the quiz portion. I am so glad we purchased it!

### 5/5 — Oops! - REDACTED

*2011-08-12, version 1.0.1*

There are parts of this app I like, but I would never use with my music students. In the Listen section the oboe and clarinet sounds are associated with the wrong icon. You select oboe and you hear the clarinet, and visa-versa. Please fix!

VERSION 1.0.1 - Thanks for fixing the issue. Your app is now ready for the classroom!

### 5/5 — Great Educational App

*2011-05-01, version 1.0*

I purchased this app after see my niece and nephew play it. When I showed it to my 3 year old son, he gravitated right to it and loves to play the matching game. He has learned almost all of the instruments, by name and can sit and play it over and over and over again. What a great job Smappsoft did with this app. It is fun for kids or all ages and adults too.

### 5/5 — Important

*2010-11-14, version 0*

These guy did something right with this app and it's important you expose your children to it. My son and daughter found this very fun and "addicting" and their cousins seemed to be eager to join in. I looked over 5 minutes later and children (6 of them) aged 5 thru 10 were hovered over my iPad playing with this app. Clearly this firm tailored the software to the needs, attention span, and thinking of their users. What's more is the children have used this app repeatedly; it's not a one use app. I'm very pleased and look forward to new apps smapsoft. Jz

### 4/5 — Fun, educational music app

*2010-09-28, version 0*

This is a cute little musical app that does a great job of filling a little niche in the app store that I never really knew existed. It does a great job of educating the user about how to identify instruments that are commonly found in an orchestra. I was hoping there would be a little more about music in general, but it really does focus exclusively on the instruments. It is at the very least a good, short diversion that will increase your knowledge of the orchestra.
