## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Big fan - massively disappointing

*2020-08-10, version 1.2.0*

I used all your earlier apps in tunes, loved the new way to interact with music.
This DOES NOT WORK on the new ipad4 pro, and it was an expensive punt. Please refund, or rather, sort it out, we need the weird guys like you, I was looking forward to playing with this.
Please help x - are you going to fix it for the latest iOS?
If not, how do I get a refund?
Mucho disappointed!

### 1/5 — Don’t buy this

*2020-03-20*

App doesn’t work at all

### 1/5 — Would love to put in 5 stars

*2020-02-07, version 1.1.1*

But it crashes immediately on my iPad mini 5

### 2/5 — Not optimized for 11-in

*2023-01-17*

Rad sounds. Unfortunately, the app isn’t optimized to fit 11-in iPad. I can see a couple buttons cut off at the bottom of the screen. Perhaps there’s more missing that I can’t see. Please, please, please update to fix—I’d use this app all the time in that case.

### 2/5 — No option to buy

*2020-09-04*

I’d like to make the purchase, but can’t?
Also, I can’t load this in AUM? Without being able to load in AUM, I’m not sure I will make the purchase.
Make this IAA (and eventually AUV3) and I’ll mark the purchase.

### 2/5 — It does one thing

*2018-05-06, version 1.0.5*

One trick pony, for 13,99$ not that impressed.

### 3/5 — Nice sounds but.

*2024-08-06, version 1.3.1*

This seems like a pretty nifty app and was tempted to buy the full version but as it is pretty much a stand alone and doesn't have Au support it can’t effectively be used with anything else inside the iPad e.g. AUM.
If this updates, or becomes available on older iOS then I would really be up for getting the full version.

### 3/5 — Fun, but Needs updating

*2023-09-26*

Just purchased this, knowing it is stand alone only, with no connectivity to other apps, because I’m granular addicted, lol.
I think it is a really clever idea.
But I was disappointed to find that it won’t send sound to my Bluetooth devices.
Also am having regular crashes, when loading files, and pressing play.
Sometimes it recovers, and starts playing, sometimes not.
Would be nice if it had more than one playback head.
Another feature I would like to see in an update, is the ability to apply modulation to some/all of the controls.
Also midi learn, so midi from other apps, or external hardware, could control the app’s functions.
As far as cpu usage goes, iPad hardware has come a long way, since this app was released.
Is there no way to optimize the software performance, so it is less stress on system resources, and could connect to other music apps?
I suspect that this app is now abandonedware, as there have been no updates for a few years.
It’s a shame, as the idea has a lot of potential.

### 4/5 — Fun audio mangler

*2023-06-24, version 1.3.1*

Soup is another in a long list of wonderful iOS apps that add a new dimension to music-making thanks to the dynamic of the touch screen, which is revolutionary. Any audio material can be manipulated to make totally unpredictable sounds (with the in-app purchase of import enable, of course.)
The one thing I would like to see that would make Soup truly perfect is AuV3 or Inter-Audio support for Audiobus, AUM, and similar. Don’t despair: there is an option to record what chaos you create for export, but being able to do it in realtime in conjunction with all your existing effect plugins would make Soup truly phenomenal and practically indispensable for contemporary experimental music-making.

### 4/5 — 😮

*2022-12-29, version 1.3.1*

Once I figured out the basics I realised this is a stunning and unique app that for some reason seems pointless at the first glance (I downloaded it more than once before and I didn’t get exactly what it was about compared to more straightforward granular apps). 4 stars only for the lack of auv3 and - it seems- lack of updates.

## Most praised reviews (5 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great Granular Glitchy Goodness

*2020-09-03*

If you enjoy mangling your audio, this is the app for you. The last update restored the ability to import files. The ability to record and export your recordings from within the app allows you to use them somewhere else.

### 5/5 — STRANGE

*2020-09-02, version 1.3.0*

WOAH! Another gem from the agency of strange. I love it. I’m going to have many a good hour or so dabbling with this.

### 5/5 — Glad to get Strange again

*2020-08-01*

I wish this had better file import! It’s a blast to play with but poor file import is harshing my mellow. There are a few ways to make .wav import easy, including opening the door to Files app in/out access. The GUI panel for file import is glitched too. Oops please fix the bug.

### 5/5 — Interesting

*2018-12-02*

Some great sounds to be had out of this one. Another cool app from Strange.

### 4/5 — Working again on 13.5.1

*2020-09-04*

Thanks for fixing your baby. Things can get interesting again!

(old panic review follows)

Help! Doesn't work on 13.3

It's an awesome app, but it is completely broken by iOS 13. It won't even start on 3rd gen Pro running 13.3 - it just force quits. I've owned all of the Strange Agency apps, and most of them sadly died in the 32 bit app purge. This one should be fine, though, but it isn't. It was very expensive, and it won't even start.

UPDATE: iOS 13.5.1 app is still dead in the water. Don't buy it if you're running anything past iOS 12.
