### 3/5 — Functional, but...

*2026-02-10*

Source Audio would sell a lot more of these if they did a tutorial for guitar players on how to program synthesizers. The C4 is an amazing synthesizer, but the default sounds are unremarkable and the sounds online aren't very musical. Were it not for the bass player who did a decent demo on programming, I would have sold my C4. Now I hold onto hope that I can learn to program well enough to craft some good sounds--because they are definitely in there.

### 3/5 — Iphone 12 bug

*2025-11-20*

Won’t connect to pedal even at max volume tells me to increase volume. Cool app just needs work

### 3/5 — Battery killer

*2025-09-18, version 3.6.1*

This app kills my battery AND turns my phone into a boiling hot lava bar. App probably needs optimization to fix the issue. Running an older device (12 mini), but have not encountered this issue with any other app. It’s like the processor is running at max power constantly.

### 2/5 — Latest update broke it on my iPad

*2025-04-01*

I have used Neuro for a few years and generally like it for deeper tweaks into my SA Collider Rev/Delay.
I think as expecting great things from version 3, but now it “opens” and immediately shuts down.

I am running the latest iPadOS on a relatively recent (pre M-silicon processors) iPad with plenty of memory…and everything else turned off. Doesn’t matter if I am attached to my Collider or not.

### 4/5 — Neuro 3

*2025-03-29, version 3.5.12*

Just an update on my previous review that the app update is well-received and appreciated. Bravo! Some Bluetooth connectivity issues remain but this could be on my end ie phone, Bluetooth receiver.

### 2/5 — Bring Back the Old Neuro!

*2025-01-13*

I really like Source Audio’s pedals. This new version has been disappointing. I miss the sliders and full 8-bit resolution. Now most level settings don’t have a proper zero, and it continues to be a bag of bugs. Worst of all the old (better) non-beta version is gone for iOS.

### 3/5 — Better than nothing

*2025-01-11, version 3.5.11*

I don’t have access to a computer that I can download software to so I can’t use the desktop editor, which is probably superior because it connects to the pedal via USB.

Since I don’t have that option, the only way I can tap into my True Spring pedal’s extra reverb algorithms is with this Neuro 3 mobile app, which connects through a special cable that comes with the pedal. (It has a 1/4 inch jack that plugs into the pedal and an 1/8 inch jack that plugs into the headphone jack of your phone. I have an iPhone SE, so I had to use a lightning adapter. My guess is that the app sends a one-way code of audio pulses through this cable to the pedal…)

My first experience trying to use the app was so frustrating that I nearly sold the pedal. A few days later I gave it another shot when I had more time and patience to problem-solve and systematically try to upload/“burn” presets to the pedal. I’m not the most technologically advanced person, but I’m not dumb either— this app’s interface is not intuitive and will require some patience to figure out.

That said, with a lot of trial and error, I did ultimately figure out how to upload 3 presets to use in preset mode.

The sounds I get out of this pedal are absolutely beautiful. Please remember, this is a review of the app, and NOT a review of the pedal itself.

Is the app poorly designed? Yes, but I’m glad SOMETHING exists (besides the desktop editor) so that I can unlock the potential of the pedal.

I don’t know anything about app/software design, but a lot phones don’t have headphone jacks anymore. Maybe the next app could use a USB connection?

### 1/5 — Stuck on sign in screen

*2025-01-04, version 3.5.10*

Trying to create an account freezes the app. No error message. Very frustrating

### 2/5 — Bring Back the Old Neuro!

*2024-11-01*

I really like Source Audio’s pedals. The old mobile Neuro wasn’t slick, but it unlocked all the power with accuracy. This new version has been very disappointing. The efficient sliders are now knobs. Gone is full resolution of values, many level knobs don’t have a proper zero, and now it’s a bag of bugs. Worst of all the old (better) version is gone for iOS.

### 1/5 — Very Disappointing

*2024-10-19*

This software is NOT ready for actual use. It is at best an early forced-beta.

Unfortunately, for iOS there is no way to revert the older version which featured horizontal sliders which made good use of screen real estate and were easy to read. Parameter values had 256 steps of resolution.

The new version replaces sliders with knobs which are much more difficult to use, don't make good use of screen real estate, and scale values to the nearest percentage, thus causing a loss of edit resolution. There are also issues like EQ bands where there is either no zero dB, or two zeroes (0.0 and -0.0).

I timed myself and it took me 30 seconds to encounter a malfunction with this latest release.

It's heart-breaking, because I like Source Audio, and I know those folks are really trying to do this right. The Neuro app ambitiously covers a large range of pedals providing incredibly detailed access to these amazing devices.

Because they released it to iOS WAY too soon, and they refuse to go backward, I suppose we'll have to ride this out.

When things start to shape up, I will keep updating this review. For now, if you have a choice, it would be best to wait.

### 1/5 — 要らないアプリ

*2024-10-12, version 3.5.5*

意味がない要らないアプリです。

### 1/5 — App has become useless

*2024-09-12, version 3.5.5*

I previously used this app with great success to make some complicated presets for my EQ2 pedal. Now the pedal connects and disconnects at random, it's not clear when presets are written or not, occasionally what I'm working on is replaced with a random preset, and I apparently have no control over saved preset names. Really, really disappointing.

### 1/5 — No connection

*2024-09-05, version 3.5.5*

Using an original apple usb adapter, and a cable that works with the Neuro Desktop App. very frustrating.

### 1/5 — Very Disappointing

*2024-09-03*

This is supposedly a public beta, so use at your own risk/peril.

The older version featured easy to read sliders, and values with 256 steps of resolution.

The new version replaces sliders with knobs which are more difficult to use, don't make good use of screen real estate, and scale values to the nearest percentage, thus causing a loss of edit resolution.

The Neuro app ambitiously covers a large range of pedals providing incredibly detailed access to these amazing devices. Unfortunately, this new version has been a disappointment, which is a shame because I know Source Audio has put lots of effort into it.

### 1/5 — No longer connects to pedals

*2024-08-19, version 3.5.4*

Since the update, the app no longer connects to the pedal to change settings or burn a preset. Not only does this make the app worthless, it diminishes the value of the pedals themselves since one can only use the on device knobs. With some pedals, most of the functionality is in the app, which is no longer available.

### 1/5 — No TRS connection

*2024-08-16, version 3.5.4*

I have had the Nemesis Delay for years and the integration of the old app worked great for loading community and my personal presets. With this update I not only lost that functionality, I can’t even change delay parameters without hooking up my nemesis to my PC. Poorly thought app.

### 2/5 — Source style

*2024-08-11, version 3.5.4*

Man I waited years for this. What a disappointment. 🫥

### 2/5 — Can't login now

*2024-08-11, version 3.5.4*

Updated my password, now it won't let me login, even though the new password works fine on my Mac. Their server authentication is a convoluted mess.

### 1/5 — もしかして使えない？

*2025-12-07, version 3.6.2*

EQ2を購入しましたが、何をどうやっても設定が反映されません。
前のバージョンでは反映出来ていたのに、、、

### 1/5 — No connection

*2025-10-18, version 3.6.2*

Ich Krieg mit meinem iPhone 11 (18.7.1) keine Verbindung zum Ultra Wave Bass ….

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2025-07-16*

Source Audio makes innovative and versatile pedals. The old version of Neuro was clunky but effective. The new Neuro is still really rough. The GUI is harder to use, helpful graphics are missing, resolution of displayed values lost precision, there are quite a few other issues that remain unresolved. I miss the old Neuro.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2025-05-27*

Source Audio makes innovative and versatile pedals. The old version of Neuro was clunky but very effective. The new Neuro is a mess. The GUI is harder to use, they got rid of useful visual aids, resolution of values is less than half of what it was, there are many issues that have been reported but remain unresolved. I hate this new version and miss the old one.

### 1/5 — Bring Back the Old Neuro!

*2025-04-07*

This revamp continues to be a disaster. There’s an apparent lack of attention to details. So many aspects of editing don’t work at all or barely. The old app is way better. I miss the horizontal sliders and full 8-bit resolution. Now most level settings don’t have a proper zero, and it continues to be a bag of bugs. For iOS the older better editor is no longer available.

### 1/5 — No idea why it doesn’t work

*2025-04-01, version 3.5.12*

Can’t seem to make it work. The app will not let me create an account. Can’t find a problem on my end, so it must be them. Too bad.

### 1/5 — Bring Back the Old Neuro!

*2025-03-19*

This revamp has been a major disappointment. So many aspects of editing don’t work at all or barely. The old app is way better. I miss the horizontal sliders and full 8-bit resolution. Now most level settings don’t have a proper zero, and it continues to be a bag of bugs. Worst of all the previous (better) non-beta version is gone for iOS. Please bring it back!!

### 1/5 — Bring Back the Old Neuro!

*2025-01-30*

I really like Source Audio’s pedals. This forced beta version has been disappointing. I miss the horizontal sliders and full 8-bit resolution. ### 1/5 — IOS limited functions on EQ2

*2025-01-13, version 3.5.11*

Limited functions on EQ2… no Q factor adjustment. Can’t see what centre freq you have set. Can’t set up user account.. simply stalls. Pretty well useless. Desktop app works well.. but who lugs laptops around these days.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Good app and great pedals

*2025-12-23*

Good app but needs some optimisation improvements

### 5/5 — Don’t know what the other reviews are about

*2025-02-05*

I solely use the c4 synth pedal and had no issues what so ever except have to press the burn button a couple of times. Maybe they fixed the issues?

### 5/5 — Awesome update!

*2024-06-25, version 3.5.0*

The new Neuro 3 update is amazing! It’s so easy to use and looks wonderful!

### 5/5 — Mind is Blown

*2023-02-11*

I see all these negative reviews and it is unfortunate. I personally have not had any issues using my Gemini Corus with this app and absolutely love the versatility and wide spectrum of presets to freely edit and burn onto my pedal. I’ve had this pedal for a year and never really even used it until I decided to try this mobile app. It is now my favorite pedal on my board.

### 5/5 — Source Audio’s Neuro Keeps Getting Better!

*2023-01-06, version 3.2.12*

I have SA’s amazing C4, EQ2, and Atlas pedals. The app isn’t slick, but it works well. It unlocks more features, accesses more presets, and allows for more precise adjustments. It also allows you to see all the edit features of other SA pedals you don’t yet own. Not all features are mentioned, much less explained in the documentation, so there’s room for improvement there. (This is an updated review.)

### 5/5 — Funktioniert wieder alles! (C4 Synth)

*2022-06-10, version 3.2.7*

Übertragen von ganzen Presets geht (zumindest bei mir) wieder! Hurray!

### 5/5 — Excellent!!

*2021-11-29*

I’ve been in the industry over 45 years. I have an engineering masters degree, but not from MIT. This app worked flawlessly the first time I used it with a Collider pedal, and the Windows desktop application also worked perfectly the fist time I used it. The pedal’s effects are top notch, the sound quality is excellent, and you can get a huge range of independent delay & reverb effects from this pedal. Highly recommended iOS app, desktop application, and pedal from Source Audio!

### 5/5 — C4 Synth FX Pedal App

*2021-02-19, version 3.2.4*

Great stuff from fmr/still guys from Strymon,so that speaks to the Uber-Quality of this synth pedal for Guitar/bass etc..,ya get it all essentially, every synth, and you can check out other users freaky sounds on the app..,must have!!!

### 5/5 — 操作不能(解消済み)

*2020-04-05, version 3.1.6*

### 5/5 — Awesome software

*2019-12-28, version 3.1.3*

The depth of parameters available is outstanding and the easy access to community presets is bar none. Software is bug free so their dev and test team must be excellent.
