I love the concept of only highlighting speciality coffee shops. However, it does have its downfall. It doesn’t seems like the review tab is fully functioning. I have left 4 reviews at four different coffee shops and somehow, they are no where to be found. Also, I’ve submitted various coffee shops worthy of this specialty coffee house list and have also mentioned to my fellow coffee connoisseurs to do the same. But it’s been about two months and no feedback or addition of new coffee shops. Lastly, sometimes coffee information is misleading. For example, I have found that a few coffee shops in which the addresses stated is wrong. These small issues are definitely not a deal breaker at all. In fact, I want to continue to see this company grow and expand its work. I appreciate the vibe they are trying to capture with Source. ### 4/5 — Love it but I can’t use it! *2022-03-21, version 2021.4* Unfortunately this won’t work with iOS 13 which I have. I’m no longer choosing to update my phone so I can’t use this wonderful app. I used to be able to. Would you all please considering creating some backwards compatibility? I can still download it which is kinda weird. I can open the app ok but when I hit the continue button on the welcome screen, nothing happens. Seems like it wouldn’t be too hard to make it compatible. But what do I know. I would also accept the implementation of a web app. There is some helpful information on the website now, but I would love to scroll that map on a desktop! Great work on the product though. ### 3/5 — Too buggy *2021-11-08, version 2021.16* Has potential. But now too buggy. The country list and city list are messed up. Just have a look, “DE” ?? Bottom bar sometimes cuts through when scrolling. Very messed up. Quits randomly. ### 4/5 — Find Good Coffee FAST! *2021-10-24, version 2021.16* A fantastic way to find local, 3rd wave coffee when traveling, moving, trip planning, etc. Google and Apple Maps “coffee near me” still works better to show ALL nearby results. This app filters out Starbucks, Dunkin, other. It is unclear if all shops on the map are manually added or being snagged via API. The app follows Apple’s design guidelines very well. ### 4/5 — Question *2021-05-08, version 2021.10* How do you add a business? ### 4/5 — Conceptually Excellent *2020-10-23, version 2020.37* I love the idea of this app and it could be incredible if more people start using and contributing to it. The map is the most useful feature for me, and I wish I worked a little different. Instead of always starting on a zoomed out view of all of the US, I would like to be able to just set a custom scope of the area(s) that I am frequently in. For me, that’s the greater Tampa Bay area in Florida. As cool as it is to see esteemed shops from across the country, I’ll likely never get to visit them. The display of the blue icons for shops on the map is somewhat finicky; you have to zoom in quite a bit for some of them to pop up. Other times, the map is blank and won’t show anything at all. Just needs some fine tuning :) I’m leaving this review because I want this app to succeed. This app helps me find the best coffee places, full of character and amazing coffee. Can’t say enough about it! Also, they are great to follow on Instagram! ### 5/5 — Exactly what I've been looking for *2019-10-14, version 1.2.4* I travel quite a bit and I'm always fumbling around in Google maps to try and find legit specialty coffee shops or roasters wherever I go. This app is snappy, easy to navigate and appears to have a lot of accurate content. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Reviews not saving? *2024-07-18* I’ve tried to write a few reviews now and they aren’t showing up, I hit save and it’s nowhere to be found. Only a few coffee shops near me that are on the app even though there are more coffee shops that are good if not better than what is already there. There is only a log out option and NO way to delete account!? No customer support button that see!? No way to contact app to delete account! ? ### 1/5 — So much wrong *2022-11-13, version 2022.8* There’s so much wrong with this all. First off punch to zoom in the map doesn’t work. Also there’s many great shops missing from the database and no apparent way to add any new shops. ### 1/5 — I love the app a lot *2022-09-13, version 2022.7* The only reason it’s at a 1 is because I haven’t been able to use it in a month because of a bug that won’t let me open it. I’ve tried reaching out to the developers but I either got no response or I was told something that hasn’t happened yet. I would love to get this fixed and use this awesome app again! ### 1/5 — Developer response *2021-06-14, version 2021.13* Left a negative review of this app...developer decided to respond with a very inaccurate take...I love the idea of this app...perfect for a coffee head like myself...maybe it would be more useful for me if I were in another state or further from my local...I’ve been to every shop on their map...suggested a few new locations (I’m the local right?)...they’re response suggested I don’t know what I’m talking about...that the establishments were somehow “not good enough”...lol...one of the shops was voted top #5 in the nation...and they are continuously listed as one of the top roasters in the nation...just furthers my assumption that these shops pay to play. **Developer response:** We don’t ask shops to pay anything to be featured on our map. We do however limit the number of shops on the map to only the best, so not every suggestion is added. That way you know when browsing the app, all shops meet a certain level of quality. ### 1/5 — Wish I could use this app *2020-03-17, version 1.5.3* Crashes every time you get to the password point when trying to join. ### 2/5 — Onboarding is lacking data transparency *2022-02-21, version 2022.5* App immediately pops open a precise location request without any real explanation as to why. I get it’s a free app and it requires location access but an explanation of what is being done with the data *before* asking would be nice. ### 2/5 — More useless than Yelp *2020-02-03, version 1.3.6* The map was missing 5+ third wave coffee shops in my area. Missing one or two recently opened cafés is understandable, but missing popular, well-established shops is not forgivable. If you can’t even do better than Yelp, how can you call yourself an app made for finding artisanal coffee? There isn’t even an option to submit a coffee shop in the app! I do have to give the developers credit for the clean, stripped-down design, though. **Developer response:** There is a way to add shops in the app! Tap the "S" in the top-left corner of the map, and select "Submit A Shop." We certainly don't have every shop in the world in our database yet. We are working with users to find shops that are missing, and appreciate when everyone submits shops we've overlooked! We also have an easy option to email us in the app regarding any other feedback or ideas you may have. From gestures and animations that feel completely wrong, buttons that do nothing, lack of zoom in the map, etc. ### 3/5 — Crashing *2022-09-30, version 2022.8* App hasn’t been the same since ios16, app crashes, when it does open it doesn’t show any shops around your location. I hope the developers are working om fixing this. Beans are sourced from Joe Beans in Rochester NY, and offerings rotate monthly. They offer Drip, pour over, espresso, lates, and cold brew. They offer house made pastries from the in house bakery, that complement the drinks. I have had excellent pour overs, and americanos with good consistent pulls. If your out for a drive in upstate NY, and want a cup of coffee that would be at home in a bigger city then this is a perfect stop. ### 5/5 — Great App! *2022-11-04, version 2022.8* I love this app! Users can submit coffee shops to get vetted for approval so, If more coffee enthusiasts joined up and started submitting then this really could become a staple resource for the third wave community.
