No dropouts recently. Early 2025 - Over the last few weeks, when listening through the app to SC NPR on my iPhone 14+, the app would stop playing every 15 minutes, like clockwork. I restarted the app. I restarted the phone. I deleted the app and re-downloaded. Nothing seemed to work. If I switched to the Georgia NPR app, the stream was flawless. If I listen to the WABE app, Streaming was flawless. But this morning, the SCETV app plays without any drop out. I have no explanations. When it works, it’s great. Excellent national and southeastern seaboard coverage. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — The buggiest *2024-11-04, version 4.6.29* I have four npr station apps: SC where I live, Savannah, GA because it’s close and Asheville where I used to live and nyc because I used to live there too. Mostly I want to hear SC local news so I try to tune in there. But it won’t even open on my iPhone 16. Neither would it open on iPhone 13 I owned previously. In order to listen to SC I go to the npr app and get it there. It affects my donations I must say. I always donated in avl but the SC app is so buggy I get so frustrated just when I’m waking up. So I go to one of the other apps. Sc covers so much territory that the local news is not very local. And the news they choose to focus on begs belief. So. Georgia public broadcasting. Or national npr is what I end up listening to. ### 1/5 — Live radio won’t play *2023-01-03, version 4.5.63* Just doesn’t work on iPhone 12 Pro Max. I’ve deleted it and uninstalled and reinstalled it. My phone software also is up to date. Works fine on iPhone 8. ### 2/5 — Wonderful source of information and music *2020-06-25, version 4.4.58* I have been a donor for years! Every morning when I turn on SCETV radio I am thankful that I have supported the ability for me and everyone else to have this excellent source of accurate news and entertainment. I get my money’s worth every day! The only complaint is the APP tends go in and out needing to turn it back on frequently. I have used it for years with different WiFi locations and a couple of different phones and I have decided it must be something with the app itself. Having such a classed based system is the antithesis of “public” access and not in the spirit of PBS at all. It’s more akin to a cable tv company than media intended to entertain and inform everyone. I live in the boonies where over the air won’t come in except in my car. I have to go to the web for live station feeds.
