### 4/5 — Apple Watch

*2025-01-23, version 8.1.7*

Unable to connect with my Apple Watch Series 4.

### 3/5 — Good app but doesn’t seem to be maintained

*2023-07-25*

This app hasn’t updated in a year and my iPhone has updated several times. Something in there seems to have broken notifications, which are one of the best features. Hopefully someone is looking into this and will get it updated to be fully compatible again.

**Developer response:** Hello MMaschine, we would love to troubleshoot with you and see why you aren't getting notifications. So if possible, we want to put you in direct contact with our software developers to resolve these issues. Would it be possible for you to send us an email at mobileinquiry@aqmd.gov with your contact information? Please mention it is regarding the notification issue. We’ll have someone contact you and hopefully assist in resolving the problem. We look forward to speaking with you soon.

### 3/5 — Data is frequently old

*2020-10-06, version 5.0.36*

As I write this at 8:14 PM, the app still has the conditions as of 7 PM. I tried refreshing it. I closed the app and re-opened it. It still says the AQI as of 7 PM.

However, when I go to the weather app that came with my iPhone or I go to Apple Maps, it has the correct AQI that was refreshed more recently (probably 8 PM).

This has been happening consistently for a while now. Sometimes the updates are over an hour late.

I guess I’ll stick with the apps that came with my phone.

### 3/5 — buggiest app ever; great info

*2020-09-20, version 5.0.36*

update:
if i add more than one city to the app, it ALWAYS breaks when i swipe between them. if i have laguna and la cañada added, for example, and try to swipe from la cañada to laguna, only some of the info updates. it continues to say “west san gabriel valley” and shows the map for west sgv even though im supposedly looking at laguna. sometimes the name doesn’t update when swiping between them. sometimes the air quality thats being reported is for the other city.

this doesnt seem to be an issue if i have only one city added.

it will also freeze and crash periodically.

i appreciate the notifications, but id also like the option to be notified when the air quality IMPROVES, not just when it worsens.

thanks for the app. its been a major help since the fires started.

fix the bugs!!!

### 4/5 — Good but the hourly map doesn’t work

*2020-09-15, version 5.0.36*

I really like this app, with one exception. When you click on the hourly map you get a blank graph. Developers, please fix this!

### 3/5 — Prefer this app over Air Vusual, but...

*2020-08-23, version 5.0.36*

Lately, especially since July 4, frustrated that, area 16, 17, and 18 AQI’s are nearly identical. From the beach to Fullerton. Please communicate it to us, SCAQMD, if you are having problems with your equipment instead of treating all this area as the same, I (and a lot of others) need accurate info. Thank you for the app! I usually like it better than this past week. Update: I guess this never got sent, but the same thing is stll happening end of August.

### 5/5 — Amazing App for my Real Estate service

*2020-06-11, version 5.0.36*

Such a great tool to help my clients choosing their new home in a good air quality area.

### 5/5 — Excellent information!

*2020-04-26, version 5.0.31*

One thing which could improve it-—add a complication to the app for the watch, so it may be visible on the face at a glance. Thank you!!

### 3/5 — Good—when it works

*2019-10-28, version 5.0.12*

I thought this app was going to be great. I live in LA and went to check the air quality during fire season. My kids’ school was canceled due to extremely bad air today but this app hasn’t updated in 12 HOURS! Shows all good!🙄

*2019-09-15, version 5.0.2*

This app is really helpful for those of us who have allergies and asthma. It’s nice to pull this up and see what the air quality is where you’re at and where you’re going. Thank you

### 5/5 — Very useful!

*2019-09-14, version 5.0.2*

Prior to this app, I’d log onto the SCAQMD website when my asthma flared up, or when I thought the air quality might not be so good. This app is a game-changer for me. No longer to I have to go looking for AQ info in my area, this app will alert me in real time when the AQ changes. This is incredibly helpful, as I can immediately take action to prevent an asthma attack, such as avoiding outdoor activities or closing my windows. Very grateful for this app & the services SCAQMD provide.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — In Los Angeles fire area and it says the air quality is good.

*2025-01-15, version 8.1.7*

While health officials saying we have to stay inside because it’s so bad 😣

### 1/5 — South Coast?

*2024-09-06, version 8.1.6*

South coast but it doesn’t cover San Diego

### 1/5 — Notifications don’t work

*2024-07-05, version 8.1.6*

Notifications are so unreliable as to be useless. It doesn’t seem to matter how you set it up, you can give it all the permissions and prioritize its alerts and still not get anything.

### 1/5 — Glitch

*2018-11-16, version 5.0.1*

I want to get in the app but there’s crash

### 1/5 — Limited info

*2018-01-01, version 4.2*

I’ve been looking at aqmd’s website every day to see the air quality listed as a value from 0-500. This app does not display a numeric value or a map of affected areas.

### 1/5 — What a horrible piece of crap

*2017-11-25, version 4.0*

If you change the location from Diamond Bar to say Los Angeles it bombs over and over again, you obviously need help developing a useful application that helps residents in Southern California.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2015-01-19, version 3.1*

Nothing, but generic information. Wunderground has more then this on their weather app. No real data, nothing technical.

### 1/5 — Nearly useless app.

*2014-07-12, version 3.1*

Horrible design. No real data shown.

### 1/5 — CNG map doesn't work

*2012-05-18, version 1.2*

I downloaded this for finding CNG stations. You have to type in a zip code. How would you know this when you are out of town? Useless. Also a lot of missing stations.

### 1/5 — Poor quality

*2011-10-31, version 1.2*

No wonder no one wants a nat gas car. Typical govt agency. Unreliable and don't waste UR time

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best air quality app in SoCal

*2025-01-11, version 8.1.7*

This app needs to be broadcasted IMMEDIATELY across the regions impacted by these horrific fires. It’s the best data source for air quality and air pollution—including custom notifications, forecasting, and detailed breakdowns of each pollutant’s levels. Why are the local agencies not including this in the list of resources for their communities?!

### 5/5 — Exceptional, accurate, and up to the minute

*2025-01-08, version 8.1.7*

Puts other air quality apps to shame. When there is an ongoing fire or smoke situation this is the app!

### 5/5 — Best and most reliable air quality app

*2024-09-11, version 8.1.6*

I rely on this tremendously daily. Especially now that there are 4 live fires going on around us. This app gives us live update of air quality and e-mail or text alerts when there is known air dust. It also warns you and predicts ahead. It tells you what groups of people may be harmed based on color coded index of air particles and pollution. I am surprised not many people know about this app, and not a lot of reviews. But we live by this app and check it almost hourly sometimes for years!

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2021-06-20, version 6.0.0*

So accurate and the interface is so easy to see

### 5/5 — Not reliable for accuracy

*2020-11-07, version 5.0.36*

This app’s data is updated hourly. It is a very attractive app and seems to be accurate. Five Stars!

### 5/5 — Very helpful app

*2020-09-20, version 5.0.36*

Easy to use checking it several times a day with all the smoke out here

### 5/5 — Great App, Excellent Info

*2020-09-19, version 5.0.36*

It’s hard to not be impressed with this app, how easy it is to use, and how useful the information is. Really great job on building this app and maximizing the “use-ability” of the air quality information it gives us. If you live in the area that this app covers, get this and use only this for your air quality readings. And if you’re a city official somewhere outside this region (looking at you San Diego!), get in touch with these app makers to have them make this for your jurisdiction. Thank you so much!

### 5/5 — Alebooobooo

*2020-09-18, version 5.0.36*

Hello

### 5/5 — very helpful App for my health

*2020-09-14, version 5.0.36*

The air quality has been bad with fire and I used this App to find detail information for my area including PM2.5 numbers. I appreciate the updates of the air quality. Thank you for your hard work.

### 5/5 — I strongly recommend

*2020-09-12, version 5.0.36*

With all the fires affecting the air quality in California, I’ve been able to use this app to get information on what is happening in the City of Orange. I’ve been looking for a resource to find daily AQI. I googled my city and could not find a way to get to what I thought should be easy information to obtain. I easily found this information along with other interesting bits. Thank you to the creators of this app!
