### 4/5 — Please fix a few things

*2022-01-14, version 1.5.2*

Almost a great game. Fix and make us choose the path where you walk because it puts you in the path to lose. Also have a save setting

### 4/5 — Good game, needs a few improvements

*2021-12-24, version 1.5.2*

The game itself is fun to play. A few things I would love to see improved. Single player campaign is too short and impossible to collect enough chips to fully upgrade all characters. Another planet campaign would be great with more weapons upgrades. The other item that can be improved is adding bots to co-op mode. I have tried several times and cannot get paired with someone to play even after waiting many minutes. So it is like 50% of the game is unplayable.

### 4/5 — Nice turn-based tactical strategy game

*2021-10-02, version 1.5*

I really enjoy this style of turn-based squad-level strategy game and this is a great implementation of the style. I had loads of fun playing through the campaign, which includes 28 levels.

I do have one question however. Having finished the campaign, I am now playing the daily missions. The daily missions’ menu gives the player an option to spend credits to unlock additional missions. I’ve done this a couple of times but have no idea how to actually play the unlocked missions. I must be missing something obvious. I can get to a list of the extra mission that includes check marks next to the ones I’ve unlocked. But tapping on those missions does nothing and I can’t figure out how to load them.

### 4/5 — Awesome game great job

*2021-05-25, version 1.4.1*

Literally my only real complaint is that the characters don’t move intelligently within the context of the map. What I mean by that is that even if you have “safe” tiles available to move through to reach your destination they will sometimes move through tiles that damage them. Specifically looking at the level with lava geysers. Really cool when I tell a character to go to a tile and he needlessly passes through a lava geyser to get there even though there are safe paths available. 👍

Other than that I love it though. Hoping for a sequel. 🤞

### 4/5 — Very solid tactics game

*2020-02-25, version 1.0.9*

If you are a fan of turn-based grid tactics games like Xcom, it is definitely worth your while to play this one. There won’t be much to look for so far as story and character development (and the dialog is kind of annoying), but the combat system is what is featured and it is executed well.

Set the difficulty to the harder of the two settings, and even though the first short act of introductory levels will make it seem as if the game is overly basic and too easy, things will rapidly start to get more and more complex and challenging (and enjoyable) around stage 11.

To the developers, if you were to start a
Kickstarter-type thing or preorder-based Steam project for a sequel (maybe you’re already working on that), I for one would be glad to chip in because I think you could have a 5 star, really genuinely great game with some more detailed and artistic visuals, slicker upgrade trees for the characters and weapons, and more engaging storytelling. Thanks for the game!

**Developer response:** Hi. Thanks for playing Spaceland. Now we are focused on new content for Spaceland on Apple Arcade. Today we have released new update with secret boss fight, new daily missions, online duels and online coop survival mode. Hope you like it.

### 4/5 — Fun game

*2020-01-01, version 1.0.9*

It’s kinda like x com. It’s fun, but not perfect. Worth playing though in my opinion.

### 5/5 — Awesome game

*2019-12-07, version 1.0.9*

Can’t wait for the sequel! I wish that I could have been able to upgrade all the weapons. Also, maybe a few more branches on the main sequence, instead of all the episodes in linear arrangement. Really a lot of fun, nice job.

### 4/5 — Fun old school style

*2019-12-05, version 1.0.9*

Reminds me a lot of an old Warhammer board game titled SpaceHulk. Recommended for turn-based game fans.

### 3/5 — Fun for a few minutes but nothing new

*2019-11-19, version 1.0.8*

This kind of tactical shooter is dime a dozen. The action is ok but the story and the characters are so boring one wishes they were not mentioned.

### 4/5 — Devours iPad Pro battery, but fun

*2019-11-19, version 1.0.8*

Really enjoying the game. Great “X-Com lite” game, and I adore the art design.

However, it absolutely drains the battery in my iPad Pro 12.9” 3rd gen. Battery drains about 33% per hour playing this title, and no other app has ever depleted it so quickly. Optimization problem?

### 4/5 — Fun tactical rts

*2019-11-09, version 1.0.8*

Lots of fun and challenging levels to play - enjoy trying to get all the chips for each level

### 4/5 — Marcus Shield

*2019-10-30, version 1.0.4*

I was supposed to get a shield for Marcus, but there is no button for shield. Did I miss something?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Co-op doesn’t work

*2022-01-19, version 1.5.2*

My wife can’t join my game and we’re both on the same network.. junk game. Crappy experiences like this make me want to not continue my arcade sub after the free trial.

### 2/5 — Nothing new

*2020-01-14, version 1.0.9*

The game is a simple “strategy” game that doesn’t expand more on the genre. I’ve played a few hours and would only recommend if you have any remote interest in strategy games on the go, this game isn’t challenging nor groundbreaking so don’t expect much. The story and characters are forgettable and didn’t draw me in. I had to write this review because I was feed up with the mission structure. To tell the truth I got stuck on a mission and wanted to break my nose on the wall from agony of having to redo another bs mission. (Wait till you have to stay alive for 17 turns with no ammo) enjoy

**Developer response:** Hi. Spoiler! If you are talking about one of the last mission about super computer. Try to use grenades and sniper rifle to destroy drones with evade chance. They can't evade grenades.

### 2/5 — Below Average

*2019-11-17, version 1.0.8*

It’s fun at first, but like someone said in another review, as it goes on - it gets unbalanced. I wish it was better. You can’t skip intros to levels. I love strategy games like Advance Wars, Civ, but its hard for me to figure out which character to use for some of these scenarios. They throw new characters on at the end and the levels just become a mess.

### 2/5 — The game’s real enemy is the controls and tiny text

*2019-10-10, version 1.0.4*

The character go to a square that I didn’t want them to go to more often than they go to the one I wanted. Often if i want to shoot an enemy and select the wnemy, the character will just walk up right next to the enemy instead of shooting them like I wanted. If that uses up too many action points, then Now I can’t shoot AND I am right next to the enemy.

Annd then there’s the unreadable without a microscope text. Why are Apple Arcade games not made for phones? This is just another game to add to my list of unplayable Apple Arcade games with text too small to read. Is it really hard to program large font sizes in an iOS game or something.

I love tactics style strategy games so I was sure I would like this game but from the opening screen it already is convincing me not to play it.

**Developer response:** Hi. We have fixed the “click-through-portraits” bug in the last update. You can also configure the tap behavior in Misc. Settings - disable “End of turn - one touch” to require confirmation of your actions to avoid misclicks. And we have fixed some issues with text size. Thank you for the review and have a nice day!

### 2/5 — Lost my save!

*2019-10-05, version 1.0.4*

I was having fun with the first 5 or 6 levels of this turn based strategy game, but today my save disappeared and my only option is to start a new game. Very unnerving because I only spent a few hours playing, but what if it happened near the end of the game? This can be a major issue.

### 3/5 — Good game but mild language

*2021-09-09, version 1.5*

I think this game is great but I have noticed a high frequency of mild language and this fact really pushes me away. The language is also very over kill it’s way to frequent and doesn’t even make sense. I started playing it with my 10 year old brother and I am aware it is rated 12+ but I would like this to be a warning to anyone who is thinking of downloading especially for younger children.

### 3/5 — Fun, but basic play frustrations

*2020-02-13, version 1.0.9*

I’ve been playing the game for a while now working my way through the campaign, and it’s nice to see a back-to-basics turn based game that looks pretty and has fun RPG elements. It’s production value is great!

Trouble is I seem to consistently trigger a potentially level-ruining “glitch” whenever I got to move the characters. I’ll go to select a different character so I can do a specific turn order, and sometimes whoever is currently chosen will move wildly across the map thinking my charter switch was a touch on a map square. It happens enough that it is very frustrating when a perfect level is ruined midplay and it leaves a lasting frustration.

A feature suggestion would be a movement confirmation option, as is common in other tactic games (such as FFTactics).

Sadly that so commonly messes me up that I can’t give the game full marks, though it deserves them in most other regards.

**Developer response:** Hi. We have fixed the “click-through-portraits” bug in the last update. You can also configure the tap behavior in Misc. Settings - disable “End of turn - one touch” to require confirmation of your actions to avoid misclicks. Thank you for the review and have a nice day!

### 3/5 — Fun, X-Com Lite

*2020-02-08, version 1.0.9*

Take X-Com.
Remove the whole base management and random alien encounter stuff.
Simplify the tech tree.

It’s fun and fast but not very deep. I wish there was an undo button so I could undo moves, it seems more prone to mistaps more than some other apps.

### 3/5 — Character select bugs me

*2019-11-25, version 1.0.9*

Half the time I try to select a different character, my current one moves to a tile under the select icons. Not worth playing at the moment.

### 3/5 — Pretty Good

*2019-11-22, version 1.0.8*

Plays well, fun for a while. Cool concept and well made.

Unfortunately, later there are some missions with some real “got ya” moments where enemies just appear and you couldn’t have known because of fog or otherwise. Leads to needing to memorize enemy pop locations and that’s no fun.

Because you can’t save mid-mission, you end up starting over because an enemy popped out and you didn’t have just enough action points to do anything about it. I’m fine with strategy games as “puzzles” but the missions are too long for retrying to be enjoyable.

**Developer response:** Hi. If you are talking about Mission 18 - please, try not to spend all action points on your move. Use green cells to be able counterattack after monster appears. If you are uncertain about the area better make end of turn and after that use green cells again. Thanks for playing.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Spaceland > Braveland

*2022-07-05, version 1.6.2*

Both are excellent but I like that I can change the play order of my team in Spaceland

### 5/5 — Love it 🥰

*2021-10-03, version 1.5*

Very well made gameplay that doesn’t get old only down side is the game feels short needs more levels and or more mission objectives per each level
Please please make another with same mechanics just more equipment and levels this game needs a sequel cause I’ve enjoyed it all the way through

### 5/5 — Roller coaster but very fun

*2021-10-03, version 1.5*

It started out really fun, then in the middle it got suddenly a lot more difficult. I’m a beginner gamer and this was my first tactical game so initially I got a bit overwhelmed… I changed my strategy and upped my tactical level ;) and eventually was able to finish and have a lot of fun playing. Definitely a learning curve but well worth playing.

### 5/5 — Nice turn-based strategy game

*2021-06-02, version 1.4.1*

Really enjoying this game. just the right amount of thought needed for casual solo-play gaming. Can be played in digestible chunks. Had some trouble with not understanding how some combat works, but that was in me. Good little game!

### 5/5 — Best of Apple Arcade

*2020-05-23, version 1.1.8*

Love is game for shorter turn based tactical fun. The new daily levels keeps bringing fresh challenges.

### 5/5 — Well done, but limited

*2020-05-15, version 1.1.8*

/EDIT: Appreciate the developer response, which is very responsive to this feedback. Upgraded to five stars. :-)

The developers did a great job infusing a lot of personality, good gameplay and some spaghetti-western nostalgia into this title. It was enjoyable to clear thru.

That said, I do not see much replay value, and the game itself felt too limited. Since it is highly unlikely you will receive all awards and bonuses on your first attempt at a mission, you will essentially need to play each mission two or three times in a row to get the currency you need to upgrade your characters. But, even if you max all of that out, you cannot complete the upgrades.

I can see where perhaps the developers thought this might encourage choices and new game attempts. But in practice, it just feels like there is too little content. It feels like a great game where I only got a preview or trial version. Something is missing here.

**Developer response:** Hi. We have added daily missions in the last update. You could get extra chips and money in it without replaying old missions. And you could max all the charecters this way.

PS: And you could drop all upgrades and get the chips back to spend it on another hero. Hope it helps.

### 5/5 — Great tactics game

*2020-04-23, version 1.0.9*

UPDATE - there is an error on Gordan’s final ability - it says +20 damage, but should say +20% damage - that’s a big difference!

I don’t know why this game is so low rated. It’s a great and simple tactics game!

Guys, it’s a game - the storyline doesn’t have to be riveting. It’s fun - you walk into a place, shoot em up tactical style, dialogue is funny, there is a hidden secret to every area, and overall the game is a ton of fun!

Wish there would be more of these types of strategy games in Apple Arcade, it’s simple and fun which is what a game should be.

Also, controls are fine - idk if the dev made tweaks since people have complained but the guys do exactly what I want them to do.

Re: not knowing if you will miss the target or not is also explained - some characters like the engineer have 100% accuracy, and some like the main character are less accurate the further away you are.

Idk what people are saying but great job to the team who made this game, I’m really enjoying it.

**Developer response:** Hi. We have fixed Gordon's last upgrade in the last update. And you could turn off "Move with one tap" mode in the Settings-Misc section. Thanks for your review! Have a nice day.

### 5/5 — Probably the only mobile game I’ve ever completed.

*2020-03-25, version 1.0.9*

This game was excellent. I really enjoyed the play through, and, as the title reads, this is the only game I think I’ve ever beat on a mobile device. I eagerly await more content!

### 5/5 — What a lovely game

*2020-03-18, version 1.0.9*

Fun and impressive, enjoyable playing experience

### 5/5 — Great value

*2020-01-03, version 1.0.9*

First off, no in-app purchase ( I hate in app purchases because most of the time they are a ripoff) so because of that alone this game deserves 2-3 stars.
I have been playing this game for a few hours now and it is a lot of fun. To me the value plus the game being a decent game, it deserves 5 stars in all.
