I bid nil and my partner had bid 9. It let opponents keep winning books by throwing off suite instead of cutting like it should had until I finally had no choice but to “win” a book and mess up my nil. However, there are times when they deduct big points, and it seems as if it's just to keep the game going longer. For example, deducting the 100 point nil win because of the extra bags exceeding the bid. If my team is ahead by 100 or more points, that's when the points are deducted. Also the other player team can have 3 over their bid, and not get dinged with deductions. Nit so, if we are just 2 over our bid.
