### 3/5 — good program but too few words

*2014-02-12, version 5.0.2*

The design of the program is fine. However, the vocabulary selection is really small and doesn't include any verbs. Would have expected more for the price tag.

### 4/5 — Easy and effective

*2013-01-19, version 4.2.7*

This is THE way for a busy person to learn a language. It's a pocket classroom; you can take a lesson and get quizzed whenever you want. Dynamite.

### 4/5 — Good enough for who it's for

*2010-04-19, version 0*

I like this app, but I am just a beginner. The flash card feature is most useful to me.

### 3/5 — Where are basic phrases?

*2010-04-09, version 0*

This is just vocabulary. Not much for $7.99.

### 4/5 — Excellent for me overcoming my Spanish struggles

*2010-02-01, version 0*

Excellent vocabulary app. I'm a slow learner, but it is helping me along. I like the format with the word study section, the multiple guess quiz, spelling, and retention. It is effectively designed to build up your familiarity and master of the words. The female voice pronunciation is slower and more pronounced, the male voice pronunciation is quicker giving you the advantage to learn from a slow clear voice and adapt to a faster conversational speed voice as well.

I'm also a visual person as well. When they add pictures with the words they will have my five stars. For the price of a movie ticket, this is a much better tool than my failed attempts to learn Spanish in the past.

### 5/5 — Absolutely LOVE this app

*2009-09-07, version 0*

These [24/7 Spanish] apps are in my top 5 best developed apps ever! THANK YOU DEVELOPERS!!!! GREAT JOB!!!! I LOVE learning on these.

### 4/5 — Pretty Good

*2009-08-20, version 0*

I've only been using it for about a day but so far it's really helpful. It's more like a language lab than a tutor. There's a bunch of different quiz and game drills that test your knowledge. You can kind of cheat by listening to the audio before you answer in the puzzle and write-in drills but this is actually useful and necessary when you're first starting to learn. The priority threshold feature is nice because you can avoid repeating stuff you already know.

### 5/5 — Great Learning App

*2009-08-17, version 0*

This is just great. I've finally found a way to study Spanish in my free time that doesn't bore me to death. The thing about this app that works so well is that it is so interactive. Each game/quiz involves constant interaction and is rather fun to use. The audio is available in every quiz so you can hear it again and again until you really absorb it. The fact that you can exit in the middle of a quiz and return to the exact same point next time you start of the app is great. It really facilitates mobile usage where you have a few minutes here and there, and never know when you will be interrupted. I'm so impressed with this app I've already bought the rest of the series.

### 4/5 — Effective

*2009-08-11, version 0*

This is a good app for learning Spanish. The variety of quiz methods make it quite a bit more effective for actual learning the language compared to the other ones I've tried.

### 5/5 — Very Good

*2009-08-01, version 0*

I really like this series. Spanish 101 let's you build a decent size set of useful vocabulary. I'm glad it focuses on common and practical terms rather than cluttering it with words you would seldom use.

The method of learning is fantastic. It's designed to keep you from getting bored by providing a set of different learning tools.
The multiple choice quiz tends to be the easy one and I always start with that. The puzzle game is the most fun and really
does a good job of locking words into your memory. The write in is the hardest but the one that verifies that you learned it.

The priority feature is a smart idea. You can filter out words and phrases that you have already learned, so they don't show up in the quizes. By adjusting the priority threshold you can either focus on the difficult parts or review the entire set.

The inclusion of audio pronunciation by a native speaker is so important. I think it's much better than synthesized speech. This is one of the best foreign language applications I've ever used.

### 5/5 — Nice

*2009-07-31, version 0*

This is a very useful app for learning vocabulary. Since I started using it I've more than doubled my Spanish vocabulary. The approach used is a lot more interesting than just studying from a book and actually hearing the words spoken is so good. I really need to hear a word several times for it's correct pronunciation to sink in.

### 5/5 — Great!!

*2009-05-21, version 0*

This app is fantastic!! Anyone who wants to learn Spanish quickly without a classroom needs this app!!

### 3/5 — No sound

*2009-05-19, version 0*

I like it, but I can't get the sound to work anymore! Anyone else have the same problem?

### 5/5 — Awesome

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Way over priced for the amount of content

*2012-02-12, version 3.6.8*

For $8 + tax you can buy an entire book on Spanish. I was expecting maybe half of that in convenient portable package to use while in Mexico and not connected to 3G. This contains nothing more than what can be found in a small pocket size guide (the size of an iPhone) and it is not any easier to search than such a guide. I wish I had checked the quality of the vocab app before purchasing the phrase app as well. I have never written a review before, so the fact that I am should indicate how strongly I feel. Buy a pocket sized guide instead.

### 1/5 — Great, but

*2010-03-08, version 0*

Where are the basic phrases?!?!?!?!?! Even though this app helps me communicate to my friends' parents, I want the basic phrases!!!

### 1/5 — junk

*2009-07-29, version 0*

don't waste your $7.99 if u don't already have a basic understanding of the language. this program does not teach you how to form a spanish sentence, nor does it tell you any of the spanish terms for who, what, where, when, why.
this program is just to help grow vocabulary
if i had more choices of rating this program other than 1-5. i give it a (negative) - 5

### 1/5 — Buyer87

*2008-11-11, version 0*

Very mediocre

### 1/5 — No good

*2008-10-10, version 0*

not worth the money

### 1/5 — crash crash crash

*2008-09-08, version 0*

it crashes right after I open it. Any suggestions?

### 1/5 — As it stands, NOT worth the money

*2008-08-16, version 0*

I bought this program for $5.99 thinking it would be useful. NOT.
1. It has a total of approximately 180 vocab words that are extremely basic. If you have finished even the first half a semester of Spanish, this program will be basically worthless.
2. Assuming I didn't know all the vocab, it doesn't seem to remember which items you have missed before, making it much less useful as a learning tool.
3. Unlike other reviewers of other Spanish learning aids, I don't see the need for audio in Spanish. Spanish, unlike English, is pronounced EXACTLY the way it is written. After a few weeks of Spanish in a class or via a program like Pimsleur, you would not need it. However, having said that, the audio in this program could not be heard in a room with ANY background noise with the iPhone volume all the way up.
4, After about 10 minutes of using this program, my iPhone experienced a hard crash.
Free would be too much money for this program as it stands. I will be happy to re-review this program if any updates address these issues.

### 2/5 — What a waste of money!

*2011-03-29, version 3.0.7*

$8 for the same 32 phrases not even that good but oh well...

### 2/5 — Very boring and basic

*2010-03-13, version 0*

I found this program to be extremely boring.

### 2/5 — Words no phrases. Not worth it.

*2009-10-05, version 0*

I liked the free version.(four stars) I was hoping for 7.99 it would be more of the same. The paid version doesn't have any phrases. I have all these words and don't know how to put them together. Don't waste your money.

### 5/5 — Fantastic!!!

*2012-06-16, version 4.2.2*

This is a great easy to use app if you want to learn basic Spanish!!!

### 5/5 — Nice apps

*2012-02-22, version 3.6.8*

I've been using both this vocab app and also the phrases app and I'm amazed at how quickly I'm learning. The variety of study methods is very helpful. It let's you work up from the easy tests to the more difficult types of quizzes. This interactive approach to learning suits me perfectly. The ability to track your progress with the catgeory scores is also very helpful. The audio is good and sounds very authentic.

I definitely can recommend this app. It really works for me.

### 5/5 — Learning fast!

*2012-02-18, version 3.6.8*

I'm amazed at how much I've learned in the short time I've had this app. It's really a great way to study and so much more interactive than other apps I've tried. Just what I needed!

### 5/5 — Very Good

*2012-02-15, version 3.6.8*

I've bought both the 24/7 Tutor vocab and phrases programs. I'm really impressed by the methods used in these apps. What a great way to learn! There are several learning functions, each with a progressive level of difficulty. The inclusion of audio pronunciation for every word and phrase is perfect. This is so important for language learning. In this app you can hear the word at any point in the app where you encounter it.

The first function, study list, is similar to what most apps of this type provide: Spanish words along with spoken audio. Most apps just have this and little else but this app includes so much more.

The next function is the multiple choice quiz which is relatively easy because you can often narrow it down to a couple possibilities by process of elimination. A good way to use this quiz is to just listen to the audio rather than look a the text of the Spanish, then choose the answer. That way you can really improve your speech recognition abilities.

The puzzle quiz is similar to the classic hangman game where you select letters from the alphabet and the app fills in the word or phrase outline. This is really a fun method. You can cheat by listening to the audio and I usually do this initially rather than give up when I can't remember, esssntially making it an audio transciption test.

The write in quiz is the most difficult. It includes an option to show a line that indicates for each letter entered, whether it's correct or not. I really like this because for a new word it's often so hard to enter it exactly correctly the first time. After a couple interations I can usually turn off the option and spell the word from memory.

Other aspects of the app that are good are the score keeping and priority feature. The app displays your current score per quiz method for each category. That way you can easily track your progress. The priority feature allows you to just be tested on the words you need more pracrice with. This let's you optimize your time and focus on the most important items.

I hope they make more of these with additional vocabulary. I really like these apps.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2012-02-12, version 3.6.8*

App works like it should, easy to read and listen. Has a descent vocab to start learning from. Overall a great app to learn some spanish words :)

### 5/5 — Mejor de todos apps!

*2011-04-25, version 3.0.7*

I love this program and bought all the others including the restaurant one as well. I am waiting for more to buy. You will really learn from this. One year and a half I knew no Spanish now I can speak and understand everything thanks to this app. I am even trying the French and Italian and learning the basics it is fun!

### 5/5 — iEste es Fantástico!

*2010-01-27, version 0*

This app es muy bien. Tengo un clase de español ( i have a spanish class) and it really helped me to learn words. The section on Foods is really good to. Don't expect to be able to put sentences together though this should just be used to learn words.

### 5/5 — Great

*2010-01-27, version 0*

Helps you read a lot better in Spanish, and fun learning instead of just boring stuff, don't waist ten dollars on the other ones because this one is the best

### 5/5 — Great app!!!

*2009-12-15, version 0*

This is great app and is helping me try to pass my Spanish 2 class. It would be very helpful though if there was verbs and conjugation flash cards as well as tests. Just a thought. Any way this is a great app.

### 5/5 — Excellant !!!

*2009-11-04, version 0*

A really excellant app for learning the Spanish language.

The app uses several different types of quiz methods to help you remember new words. The multiple choice quiz is the easiest, showing you the Spanish word and having you pick from five possible answers. The puzzle quiz is actually more like a game (hangman) where you're given the English word and select from a grid of letters that turn green or red when selected, depending on whether the Spanish word contains the letter. The write in quiz is the hardest quiz but optionally provides help in the form of a correctness feedback line. This should be turned off once you've learned the words well enough and want to be strictly tested. The flash card quiz/function is more for review than testing and is useful in practicing speaking. The app tracks your progress with quiz scores for each thematic category.

A really useful feature is the priority mode. This allows you to set a priority value (1-5) for each word and then set a threshold so that you're only tested on words you don't know. This is great for eliminating unnecessary repeating of things you already know and focusing on that which you don't know well.

The native speaker audio is excellant and is available all through the app.

I'm really pleased with this and once I get through all the vocabulary in this app, I'm planning to buy the companion app that focuses on conversational phrases.
