I’ve used Spark for years and I prefer the interface over the native Gmail app. But Spark’s latency has become a big issue for me. Recently…and I’m talking in the last few weeks, things seem to be weird, specially loading emails. Pretty regularly emails aren’t loading but there isn’t a specific trigger for the behavior. I’ve deleted and reinstalled, I’ve logged out and logged in, I’ve even used the app on other devices to no avail. I’ve been forced to…download the Gmail app which I’ve tried hard to avoid. I reached out to support with very little help to eventually not receive any responses from their team. For example, if I read and clear my inbox on iPad and I open the Spark app on my iPhone or MacBook then those emails still remain as unread. And vice versa. It’s frustrating to keep going into each device to action the same emails. Why doesn’t the action carry forward to all the remaining devices? Before even the badges on the home screen would clear. Now I have to open each app and re-action it. It started with attachments not loading, then it was full email threads not loading, for days. Multiple devices, multiple OS, multiple networks, uninstall, reinstall, etc. Nothing fixes it. Likely due to Spark playing middle man. There have been so many people reporting the same issue and they have done nothing. Sad to say I cancelled my subscription this morning, because email is the one thing you cannot wait to fix, and this has been way too long to deal with. Maybe if they can fix this I’ll come back but it will take a lot of convincing, and I have moved on in the meantime. Very sad, this has been such a great app for so so long.
