Fortunately it was created by ApeSoft, so even if there were ten this is the one you'd buy. ### 5/5 — Great as always *2016-09-09* It's Apesoft, so you either love it or you don't. App does exactly what's in the description and it sounds wonderful. If you are a fan of mangling sounds to create soundscapes or ethereal grooves, or if you just like exploring sound design, this is a must have. There's a slight learning curve. Tip: the interaction between the Denoise, envelope, and formant movement sliders is where a lot of the juice comes from. Don't ignore those. ### 5/5 — Sounds can have children *2016-03-17* This excellent app does a great job of being able to combine two sound sources and create a new one which has some of the characteristics of the parent sounds yet its own too. Its very interesting and I haven't heard anything like it before. It's a really complex machine that will take a while to master. ### 5/5 — Sparkle *2015-04-22* Apesoft.all is said! ### 5/5 — cool, needs some little fixes *2015-01-06* cool creative app but graphic interface needs some tweeking indeed. the filter graphics on the left side are all blurry and pixelated. love playing with, but terribly frustrating trying to set both samples to play from the beggining. it takes poking 15 times to set the playhead at the beggining in case u want to sync the effect. it would also make things a lot easier if we could trim the sample, or select which part of the sample is used, instead of having to trim the ample in another app and then import again, in case we want to see what happens when we use use a specific part of the sample as source or target ### 5/5 — dream come true *2014-12-22* Absolutely amazing. Thank you!! ### 5/5 — Superb *2014-12-22* Like Gliderverb, ipulserate, iDensity, and the other maker's apps this is superb! It's almost as if they took the user interface/function/look of their other apps and crossed it with a dj/two turntable app. You can achieve some deep, brooding, ghostly, creative "mixes" with this app. It allows you to blend sounds/samples in ways other apps cannot. What I got out of it in terms of sound kept reminding me a lot of what you can get with Samplr. I recommend it to all ambient music makers as well as any EDM music people for achieving a different deep sound. 5 stars! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 2/5 — Good concept but very poorly executed *2015-04-15* Though this is probably the best release from apesoft I would still skip it. These developers display a complete lack of aesthetics in visual design which is paralleled by the thoroughly underwhelming sound quality and this is true of all of their releases. Anyone skeptical of this should just check out the screenshots on the other apps. Unimaginative and redundant, much like the results one gets when trying to find a use for them. I look forward to other cross-synthesis apps from other developers so I can just forget this one and move on. ### 4/5 — Couldn't resist buying and glad for it. *2014-12-22, version 1.0* Wow, that was the fastest splurge for me in a long time - couldn't resist buying it and am happy I did. The UI needs a little more finesse but the sounds are definitely not your usual vocoder carrier & modulator business - controls provide greater depth of possibilities. Oh, and the thing that won me over with iPulsaret and iDensity: RANDOMIZE feature. ### 5/5 — incredible *2021-06-30* ignore that musiz@ppjunkie punk this is some of that good noize ### 5/5 — If you like Industrial, Dark Ambient & TripHop, get this *2019-12-01* This is Dedalus’s posh uncle. And like Dedalus, make sure you run a limiter after it or your ears will pay the price, it can be unwieldy with levels. For best results, turn off or keep the reverb low, the reverb seems to dull & smear the fourier transforming. If using drumloops make sure you have the bpm’s. Do read the manual because it’s not clear what some parameters do. And make sure to exploit the control menu mapping with midi cc, LFOs etc to all the parameters like Hybridization & Envelope. This app gives you amazing amounts of control. Sparkle also does really amazing & eerie vocoding effects similar to those on “Base Metal” by Download. ### 5/5 — Thanks for AUV3. *2019-11-27* Only thing I have to say about this, is thanks for finally bringing it into the AUv3 format. ApeSoft is by FAR my favorite music dev for iOS. Trust me, I literally own 95% of their apps (just missing one that isn’t really an instrument but more like an interactive class, so it doesn’t even count that much). I must say you are a genius my friend, I couldn’t be happier than I am thanks to your apps (you have changed dramatically the way I do music, thank you). ### 5/5 — Great *2019-11-03* Gonna take some time to learn. Different. I haven't heard anything like. Use your own sample or tune up to 320 secs and mix the two (Hybridization). Lots of control and FX. Got very good results just messing around. ### 5/5 — Great sound synthesis. *2019-07-10* Top notch app. I just love what you can do with it. Make one new sound with 2 different ones. Should have written this long ago. Luckily there was an update today and I saw the rating. Can’t let that pass. Eery, cinematic, stuff of nightmares... you name it. You can achieve it with this app. One of the bestest in the app store. ### 5/5 — Really nice *2018-11-28* Complex. But musical. I have, I think all the apps this individual made and they are all very cool but in my opinion more on the front of making wicked gnarly noise more than music. The ability to feed a drum loop into the one side then putting a pad or sustained sound into the other essentially cutting and gating into rhythmic bits the pad’s sound even to a designated tempo. (Was that even a sentence?) But isn't this achieved with a vocoder or a nice side chain compressor too? This does it differently. (I think) I am SURE I am only skimming the surface here. This is a nice app that is complex but less complex than some of his other apps. I like it a lot and have spent hours experimenting with just making non-rhythmic sounds hop and skip in time to other more tempo-laden riffs. It’s time well spent! Thank you for your continued creative tools! Additionally: I LIKE your GUI’s still and appreciate minimalist GUI's in general. iPad and iPhone apps have, in my opinion, crossed into the “pro” realm awhile back and I appreciate devs who allow me to not have to be on the most current pad or os to use their software and still get big nice sound. ### 5/5 — Weird & Wonderful! *2018-09-07* Like many of this dev’s apps, this is very creative and deep with excellent sound quality. It is great value for money, and has all the latest updates required for an iOS app to work well with other music apps. Fully recommended. ### 5/5 — Essestial Experimental *2018-04-29* If youre into IDM or experimental then this along with all of apesofts stuff is essential. Sparkle is great for combining textures and patterns in a uinique way. Great with vocal or other files. If you like creating and experimenting, tinkering around with sounds you can't go wrong with this app. Just like it says " creates high-quality sound transformations. The more you play with this the more you'll see you can do and the more valuable a tool you'll realize it is. Beautiful job they've done on this app. ### 5/5 — Another Great from the Ape *2016-12-14* I own all but one app from this company and I've yet to be disappointed. I love sound design and do a good amount of work using modular synths. I rarely ever use the iPad or apps to make music but Ape Soft has some well thought out apps that are truly top notch. The sounds that com out of Sparkle are absolutely stunning in. This is a dream for sound design and experimentation. I dump my own samples into it and toy around and usually come out with more great sounding samples.
