The app seemed okay till I got to the end and the prices were shown. This app cost 20,000 yen for a yearly contract. 32,000 yen if you do it in 3 month blocks. There is no way to do a one time purchase. There were no warnings about where our data goes or privacy. Please don’t use my data or recordings. You should have a free version that uses advertising to pay for using it. I’ve been living in Japan for 25 years and found the test didn’t adjust to my level. Can’t do anything after the long test either. Can’t check what the regular part of the app is like. If this just an ai website clone with prompt giving it instructions to teach? What does the regular user interface look like? **Developer response:** ありがとうございます。 Kigaru is not “just an AI website clone with prompts.” I’m a Japanese teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience, and I speak 4 languages myself. I used that experience to create Kigaru’s curriculum and learning flow based on what actually helps learners build the confidence to speak Japanese in real life. Kigaru was built from years of teaching real students, seeing where they struggle, and designing a more practical path toward speaking. So while I understand your concerns about pricing visibility, privacy, and the limited ability to explore the app after the assessment, I also want to be clear that this product was built with real teaching expertise and strong educational intention behind it. We believe Japanese learning should lead to actually being able to speak Japanese, not just memorize it. And from a value perspective, ¥30,000 in private human speaking practice often only gets around 5 to 8 sessions. Kigaru is meant to offer unlimited speaking practice in a way that is far more accessible for learners who need consistent repetition. If you’re open to it, we’d love for you to give Kigaru another try as we continue improving the experience. It's a great app for studying Japanese. The lessons are helpful and the Free Talk is good for general language practice. There are a few minor glitches, which is common for new apps, but the developer is very accepting of feedback and is actively working to fix any issues. I have access to what feels like a private tutor at any point and helps build a learning plan and schedule that works for me. I plan to continue using it for a long time.
