## What is SpeakZilla?

Say it out loud. Find out exactly what to fix.

SpeakZilla listens while you read a sentence and scores every word separately, so instead of a single number you can do nothing with, you see which sounds landed and which need another go.

HOW IT WORKS
The sentence plays in your coach's voice, slowly enough to hear where one word ends and the next begins. You read it back. Every word comes back coloured — green for clear, orange for close, red for another try — and the words you skipped are named rather than quietly ignored.

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT
• Scored on pronunciation alone. Not fluency, not speed. A score that congratulates everyone teaches nothing, so this one is deliberately strict.
• A coach, not a robot. Alex is British, Sofia is American, and one of them records every sentence and every word in the app. Pick the one you would rather sound like; neither is more correct.
• A tip written for the sentence in front of you. Not "practise the /æ/ sound", but which words in this sentence carry it and what to do with your jaw.
• A Sound Map of forty English sounds, coloured by how well you say each one, with drills for the ones you find hard.
• Lessons that come back. Sounds you keep missing return on a schedule, so practice lands where it is needed rather than where you left off.

HOW IT IS PACED
Three new lessons a day, and your first ten are uncapped while you settle in. Anything you have finished can be replayed as often as you like, and sound drills never count against the limit. Practising a little every day beats one long session a fortnight, and the app is built around that rather than around how long you can be kept in it.

Streaks, daily missions and eggs mark the days you turn up. Eggs are earned by practising and buy extra lessons — they cannot be bought with money.

FROM FIRST WORDS TO NEAR-NATIVE
A short placement test finds your level, then 120 lessons run from single short vowels to the contractions and reductions that make speech sound spoken. Level checkpoints confirm you are ready before the next one opens. From Intermediate up, each level closes with a short passage read in one take — where the linking and rhythm that single sentences cannot teach finally get practised.

WHAT IT COSTS
Nothing. No adverts, no subscription, no purchases.

WHAT WE DO WITH YOUR VOICE
Speech is scored as you speak and is not kept as audio. You can delete your account, your progress and everything stored with it from inside the app, at any time, without asking anyone.

Made by one person who wanted to be understood the first time.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.1 — 2026-09-25

Now in Chinese — Simplified (简体中文) and Traditional (繁體中文).

Every screen, all 40 sound tips and the coaching under every sentence can now be read in Chinese, as well as English, 한국어 and 日本語. Lesson titles, sentences and example words stay in English: they are what you are here to say. The app follows your phone's language, and you can switch in Profile → Settings → Language.

Also in this version
• Ten coaching tips corrected, in every language.
• The placement test can be left at any point, and a take the microphone did not catch is no longer scored.
• The header no longer crowds on small phones.

Made by one person: if something is wrong or confusing, write to support@speakzilla.app and it will reach someone who can fix it.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-09-23

Now in Korean and Japanese.

The whole app — every screen, all 40 sound tips and the coaching under every sentence — can be read in 한국어 or 日本語. Lesson titles, sentences and example words stay in English: they are what you are here to say. The app follows your phone's language, and you can switch in Profile → Settings → Language.

Also in this version
• Your day now turns over at your own midnight. It used to follow UTC, so an evening lesson could use up the next day's allowance — and in Seoul or Tokyo the day reset at 9 in the morning.
• The sign-up screen scrolls on small phones; the link at the bottom used to fall off the screen.
• Sign-in errors are said plainly, in your language.
• Recent attempts on the Progress tab no longer wrap onto a second line.

Made by one person: if something is wrong or confusing, write to support@speakzilla.app and it will reach someone who can fix it.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-09-18

New: passages. From Intermediate up, every level now ends with a short passage — two or three sentences read in one take, the way you would actually say them. It scores the whole thing, then shows you which sentence carried it and which one to listen to again. They are optional: nothing waits on them, and replays are free.

Also new since 1.1: a proper finish to every lesson (your score, what you earned, any sound you just mastered), a name you can set on your profile, and clearer feedback when the recogniser mishears a word you said right.

Fixed: tapping Listen twice no longer plays the clip twice.

Still free, still no ads. If something is wrong or confusing, write to support@speakzilla.app — it reaches the person who can fix it.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-09-15

Now you can sign in with Apple or Google — one tap, no password to set up. If you do, your name (and your photo, with Google) appear on your profile.

Email and password still work exactly as before. Still free, still no ads.

### 1.0 — 2026-09-14

No release notes.
