At first there was a nag screen that kept popping up when starting up and frequently thereafter that could only be closed by going to the app store to update (and then just return to the non-updated app without applying the update in order to use the old app). Finally giving in, I downloaded the update. Now it is treating me to a full page ad that has to be dismissed after every search.
