### 1/5 — Run!

*2026-04-02, version 10.29.2*

Was looking into this software for our company but found out they are soliciting inspectors clients and selling the clients information. Stay away this is bad business

### 1/5 — Bait and switch

*2026-04-02, version 10.29.2*

Spectora software is pretty good. The company is sketchy and uses client data that is obtained by inspectors who pay for the software use. They advertise to clients of the inspectors and inspectors cannot opt out. Would not recommend.

### 1/5 — Bad bad decision

*2026-04-02, version 10.29.2*

Spectora recently decided to insert third-party vendors (insurance, warranties, security systems, etc.) directly into inspectors’ client portals through their Fixle integration — without giving inspectors the ability to opt out.

Inspectors pay thousands per year for this software and spend years building trust with our clients. The client portal is part of our report environment and reflects our brand. When vendors appear there, clients naturally assume the inspector stands behind them.

The problem is inspectors didn’t choose these vendors, didn’t vet them, and can’t remove them.

Calling it “optional” because the client has to click something completely misses the point. The issue is that the vendors appear in the portal attached to the inspection report in the first place.

Software companies should support the professionals who use their platform — not monetize their client relationships.

Until Spectora provides inspectors with the ability to opt out, many companies will be forced to evaluate other platforms.

### 1/5 — Used to be a fan

*2026-04-02, version 10.29.2*

Spectora will sell YOUR clients information.

### 1/5 — Not what it used to be

*2026-04-02, version 10.29.2*

Spectora was the best. The ownership changed and it's been a mess ever since. Private equity has the controls now and user experience is horrible. I'd recommend exploring the many more options that are now available. The app and the company are declining daily.

### 1/5 — Don’t Do It

*2026-04-02, version 10.29.2*

After 5 years of using and referring Spectora I’m forced to leave like many others due to their no longer treating us users as their customer. They are forcing 3rd party contractors in front of OUR clients without our ok and no way to opt out, Don’t Use Spectora

### 1/5 — Not what it used to be

*2026-04-02, version 10.29.2*

Long time user. Almost 5000 inspections completed. They’ve betrayed our trust, ethics and clients. If you’re shopping for software please start somewhere else.

### 1/5 — Losing touch with what made them great

*2026-04-01, version 10.29.2*

Spectora was great software that made our job easier. Now that they’ve sold out to private equity, they are just looking for further ways to monetize their paying clients. I recommend looking for other options before committing.

### 1/5 — Gone Down Hill

*2026-04-01, version 10.29.2*

The new V10 is awful and they no longer support their old version. Now they’re pushing 3rd party services on our reports to OUR clients. This is a disaster of a company ever since it got bought out. After 5 years of using it I am switching to their competitor Hive.

### 1/5 — Works when it feels like it.

*2026-02-09, version 10.28.0*

It’s a 50/50 on if the app will function as intended every day. I suggest they stop doing unnecessary updates and focus on stabilizing the app. Very disappointing lately.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2025-09-05, version 10.24.6*

Terrible buggy app that constantly kicks you out or just doesn’t load anything. When it is working properly which is never it’s very laggy.

### 3/5 — Cannot input in info boxes

*2025-06-17, version 10.23.6*

Every time I go to enter a temp or furnace rating it crashes. Super annoying. Otherwise I think it’s a great app.

### 2/5 — V10 is buggy

*2025-06-12, version 10.23.6*

Since upgrading to Version 10, I’ve experienced multiple issues that significantly impact workflow. The voice-to-text function no longer works on desktop, and standard typing frequently glitches, resulting in lost input. Additionally, some data entries fail to save, requiring repeated re-entry of the same information. Due to these issues, it’s become more efficient to generate reports in external software and copy/paste them into Spectora rather than using the built-in tools. At this time, I cannot recommend Version 10 and suggest sticking with the previous version until these problems are resolved.

### 1/5 — V10 new

*2025-04-01, version 10.23.3*

The new version 10 is horrible. They should’ve never changed it. You have to go through so much to write a report to three different things when everything was on one page. I recommend you change it back to the old way.

### 2/5 — 3 years in making for this?

*2025-03-30, version 10.23.1*

Very buggy. Same problems today as there were 3 years ago in beta. Yes, this “next gen” software was in beta for 4 years. Was loyal to Spectora but no longer. They really dropped the ball on this one. Camera app crashes, syncing drains battery life very quickly, pic you take magically disappear and aren’t in the report, web version user interface is awful due to awkward scrolling and poor use of screen space. I no longer recommend this software.

### 1/5 — Close , but far away

*2025-03-17, version 9.3.0*

Spectre almost has it with this app, except it won’t update to the latest version. There’s some walk around that has to be done which I don’t have time to watch a tutorial and manually do updates every time they update their software. Not quite sure why it doesn’t come automatically with the App Store. Pretty frustrating since I paying $100 a month for a software that doesn’t work properly.

### 1/5 — Template Information Missing

*2025-03-15, version 9.3.0*

I have noticed here recently that my templates are missing information and that some of the information on my published inspections is disappearing. If anyone can figure out what’s going on please let me know as this is very annoying and seems even illegal as personal information is being removed from bought and published inspections.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unhappy Client

*2026-08-27, version 10.33.0*

They will sell you out in a heartbeat. I went through the Beta testing with them. Worked through the bugs, the crashes, the whole miserable deal. Had a payment dispute on two inspections, because THEIR vendor (Stripe) showed the charge as a FACEBOOK purchase on a clients bank account. He disputed it, figured out it was for the inspections, reversed the dispute. Spectora took the money for both inspections PLUS a credit card fee out of my bank account. Said “There’s no review, sorry. You can collect from the client.” Several years of trust and hard work, GONE. Save your time and money. Go somewhere else.

### 1/5 — V10 is TERRIBLE

*2026-05-08, version 10.30.4*

They used to be a great company with a great product and AWESOME customer service. Then they “upgraded” to version 10. Version 10 is TERRIBLE. It is very cumbersome and simply NOT easy to work with. And to make matters worse they are no longer supporting Version 9. They are no longer putting any money into fixing bugs or problems with Version 9. Unless you can use Version 9 don’t waste money on Version 10

### 1/5 — Terrible customer service

*2026-04-29, version 10.29.2*

This company will nickel and dime you I promise. Won’t let you make changes yourself. No phone support and only daytime support. If I don’t already have my template built I won’t switch but if you do inspections you know that isn’t easy to just rebuild.

### 1/5 — So Many Bugs

*2026-04-29, version 10.29.2*

I couldn’t recommend this home inspection software less. There are so many bugs and Spectora constantly updates it with new features while old ones sit unfixed making it borderline unusable.

Spectora is only interested in serving It bottom line and no longer takes care of its customers, the home inspectors that have built their businesses around it software.

### 1/5 — Continuing to get worse

*2026-04-24, version 10.29.2*

Between trying to sell products to our clients without permission, failure to correct ongoing bugs and stability issues that have wreaked havoc on us for years, and continuing to see new bugs pop up… this company is truly going backwards and has betrayed those who helped make it successful.

### 1/5 — Data Miners & Sellers Of Private Info

*2026-04-03, version 10.29.2*

Spectora used to be a good software. But recently they sold out to a bunch of greedy corporate types who are now stealing client info from inspectors without their consent and are spamming inspection companies client base with third party spam and they refuse to let inspectors opt out of it to protect their clients data. They have become the Indian spam caller of inspection software companies.

### 1/5 — Betrayed

*2026-04-03, version 10.29.2*

Spectora betrayed their inspectors by marketing to services to the home inspectors clients with no option to opt out. 5 years of trust down the drain in one move.

### 1/5 — Horrible decision

*2026-04-02, version 10.29.2*

I made the decision to run my entire company through this software a couple years ago and now they have decided to sell out and force third party advertisements down everyone’s throat without an option to opt out. I refuse to have my clients who trust me sold out to the highest bidder and sold items that I can not personally approve or vet out.

### 1/5 — Things change…

*2026-04-02, version 10.29.2*

I have been a long time user of this software, and even though there have been some bumps along the way, I remained loyal. They recently sold the company and the new leadership has decided to implement FIXL, a third-party to spam your clients when they log in to pay or sign the agreements. They will be trying to sell insurance, warranties, etc. You do not have control over who those people are and you cannot opt out of it. Many realtors will not use you once they realize you are spamming their clients with this stuff. If the company’s being pushed to your clients end up, making your clients mad, you will be connected to that because it came from your software. This saddens me to type this review. Greed has outweighed ethics and I was told by Spectora that they have no intent to change this because they believe it is the way of the future. For the sake of your own inspection future, I highly recommend considering other options.

### 1/5 — 0 stars

*2026-04-02, version 10.29.2*

Spectora just decided the client portals inspectors pay for are now a vendor marketplace.
Through the Fixle integration, Spectora is inserting insurance, warranty, and security companies directly into the inspection portal attached to our reports — and inspectors cannot turn it off.
So the software we pay thousands a year to use has decided our client relationships are now a convenient place to sell someone else’s services.
And no, saying clients must “opt in” misses the point. If it appears inside a portal tied to my inspection report, clients assume I stand behind it. But inspectors didn’t choose these vendors, didn’t vet them, and have zero control over them.
Inspectors asked for one simple thing: an opt-out.
Instead we got about one week’s notice and a shrug.
Spectora seems to have forgotten something pretty basic:
Inspectors are their customers.
Our clients are not their leads.

*2024-07-03, version 9.3.0*

I’ve been in business for six years and just switched to Spectora from another platform and could not be happier. The overall system with the advanced features is far superior to any that I tried. With the upsell features my average inspection cost went up to $200. I cannot say enough

### 5/5 — Spectora reporting software

*2024-05-06, version 9.3.0*

The Spectora reporting software makes my job so much easier. I’m able to take pictures and include everything in the report as I go through the Home. Using my mobile device and the text to speech I am able to get through homes quickly safe time get an accurate report and have photos to look at and everything I’m seeing for the Customer. Support team as well lessons that they put out are absolutely amazing. This company is dedicated to helping every inspector build their business. It is a smart investment. Questioning whether or not it is right for you when I started I got five free inspections just to test out the software I got comfortable with it and after using it I could not go back to anything else. I recommended it for everyone.

### 5/5 — Can't live without Spectora

*2024-03-19, version 9.3.0*

When I started inspecting 4 years ago, the guys I was working with used software that required writing the report after the inspection. It was PAINFULL! Spectora essentially doubled my hourly income!

### 5/5 — Can’t live without it

*2024-02-29, version 9.3.0*

Spectora is the Primier industry software. I won’t live without it. Thanks Spectora.
