## What is SpectraSort?

Every camera roll hides the photos you actually want — your best shots, a favorite subject, the ones only you would pick. SpectraSort surfaces them for you and learns your eye as it goes. Three ways in — one-tap tools, a browsable library, a studio of controls — one fast engine underneath, running entirely on your iPhone. Nothing is ever uploaded.

TOOLBOX
Six one-tap tools, each pointed at a different photo you're looking for:
  • Your Taste — a profile built from the photos you keep and the ones you let go
  • Best Shots — your sharpest, best-exposed, best-composed photos first
  • Find a Subject — search anything you can put into words, from "dogs at the beach" to "golden hour" to just "cozy"
  • Like This Photo — point at one photo, get everything like it
  • Photos of a location — pin a place, see everything shot there
  • Dedupe — duplicates, shots in a series, and look-alikes, gathered into stacks to clear

DISCOVER
Face a big library one piece at a time. Scenes gather your trips, themes, and series on their own; a Timeline takes you year to month to day. Sort any slice with a tap.

REVIEW
The best rise to the top — "best" meaning whatever you asked the tool for — with look-alikes stacked. Swipe through the result the way you'd expect: right to pick the winners, down to keep, left to let go. Or let Autopick sort them and just skim. Nothing is applied until you tap an action.

WHEN YOU'RE DONE
Batch Process finishes the job: send your picks to an album or the share sheet, delete the rest. Kept photos stay in your library, untouched.

PRIVATE
Everything runs on your iPhone — the scoring, the search, the taste profile, all of it on-device processing. No account, no internet, nothing collected from your photos. They never leave your phone.

FAST
The first sort does the heavy lifting: your photos are indexed on Apple's Neural Engine — up to 100 a second — one time. Every sort after runs on that index and lands nearly instantly.

STUDIO — PREMIUM
For when you want the controls: seven quality sliders (sharpness, exposure, composition and more), a weight wheel that splits subject against quality, and up to three subjects at once — even a photo as a subject. Save your settings as a profile, switch between them, bookmark the ones you reach for.

PRICING
Five free sorts a week. Premium removes the weekly limit and opens Studio — custom sorts, the full quality controls, saved profiles. $19.99 once, for good. No subscription, no renewals.

Built by an indie developer who uses it every day.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.0.1 — 2026-07-30

Fewer interruptions. The in-app tips no longer appear on their own. Every screen that had a walkthrough keeps a "?" button, so the guidance is there when you want it and out of the way when you don't. The one that still appears on its own is the note telling you your Taste profile is ready.

The Review grid now opens flat. Only true duplicates stack on arrival — Sequence and Similar start off, so no photo is hidden behind a cover before you've asked for grouping. Whatever you change is remembered next time.

Discover → Timeline opens on your three most recent months instead of every month collapsed. Older months stay folded.

Fixed a tip on the Home screen that named controls the app no longer has.

The rate-this-app prompt now appears after you finish a review session, rather than only after a bulk action.

### 3.0 — 2026-07-18

SpectraSort 3.0 is a ground-up redesign — one engine, three ways in.

TOOLBOX
Six one-tap tools, each pointed at a different photo you're looking for: Your Taste, Best Shots, Find a Subject, Like This Photo, Photos of a location, and Dedupe. Pick the tool, get the photos.

DISCOVER
Your whole camera roll, in order. Scenes gather trips, themes, and series on their own; a Timeline takes you year to month to day. Sort any slice.

STUDIO
Full control, for when you want it — set your own quality mix, split subject against quality, run up to three subjects at once, save it all as profiles. If you used SpectraSort 2.x, the controls you know live here now. Included with Premium.

NEW PRICING
Five free sorts a week, for everyone. One $19.99 purchase removes the weekly limit for good and unlocks Studio. No subscription.

FASTER RE-SORTS
The first sort builds a one-time on-device index; every sort after runs on it and lands nearly instantly.

### 2.4 — 2026-07-04

SCENES
Pull down on Home to flip through the life you've photographed — trips, days, themes, and look-alike shots, gathered into scenes automatically. Each card sorts on its own: tap Sort to keep the best of that moment.

PERSONAL TASTE, YOUR WAY
Your Taste profile can now learn from exactly the photos you choose. Build it from your whole library, or apply a filter first so only those photos teach it.

REFINEMENTS
— Long-press the Personal or Customized profile to bookmark it, or reset and rebuild.
— The Albums filter now sorts only the albums you pick.
— Various fixes.

### 2.3 — 2026-06-25

Image Search filter
Pick an example photo and your sort narrows to just the ones that look like it — same scene, same subject. Find it under Filters → Include → Image search.

Faster repeat sorts
After the first sort, sorting and image search reuse a cached index instead of re-reading every photo, so they finish much faster.

Fixes
The keyboard no longer covers the Select button when you type a custom subject.

### 2.2 — 2026-06-19

A few big additions this release: search your library using a photo as the example, and clear whole sequences in a single swipe.

IMAGE SEARCH
Find more shots like one you already have. Pick a photo as the example and SpectraSort sorts your library by visual similarity — the closest matches surface to the top, so every frame of the same subject, scene, or look lands together. It compares photos on-device; nothing is uploaded, no account needed. Open it from the subject picker on the home screen.

STACKING
After a sort, duplicates, sequence of shots and similar-looking shots group into stacks in the Review grid. Swipe a whole stack right to keep or left to discard in one move — recoverable anytime. Choose what groups together and make adjustments in Stacking Options.

SKIP ALBUMS
Leave albums out of a sort. In Filters, the Exclude section lets you skip app folders like WhatsApp, Favorites, or any album you pick — or invert the list to sort only the albums you choose.

MULTI-SELECT
Press and hold, then drag across the Review grid to select many photos at once, then pick or discard them in bulk.

PLUS
A range of stability fixes.
