### 2/5 — Not helpful

*2026-05-05*

It’s a nice idea, so I downloaded the app to help not get any further accidental speeding demerits. Half the time it can’t find any data on the speed limit and interrupts my focus to announce that. I’m deleting it because it’s annoying and not helpful, so I never use it.

### 2/5 — CarPlay please

*2025-11-27, version 1.31.1*

The app is a good idea but unfortunately of little use without CarPlay support.

Will this be added to the app?

### 2/5 — Would be good if not for

*2024-11-05*

Only discovered this recently after noticing sneaky third party mobile speed traps on ambiguously signed sections of road (really disgusting revenue promotion strategy, NSW Police/Government).
App would be used constantly if not for the alerts volume not working: so the alerts are super loud when listening to anything else. It shocks my little daughter with “why is that man shouting at us?” I’ve tried it on two different iPhones.

**Developer response:** Please send us an email at roadsafetytechnology@transport.nsw.gov.au for further assistance with this issue

### 2/5 — A Claytons App

*2024-02-19, version 1.25.1*

Speed advisor..the speed advisor that advises you of the speed even when it doesn’t know the speed..making it live would be a better way to go brainiacs

### 2/5 — School zone

*2023-07-29, version 1.24.1*

School zone is only thing which make me download this app. What if you add a speedometer in this app that will be fantastic. Everyone will love this app if you can do it. Thanks

### 1/5 — Speed Adviser CR(APP)

*2023-01-14*

I have downloaded this app and reinstalled it several times now and it continues to give the same message “waiting for gps signal” , I have a iPhone 13 Pro fully updated with everything switched on but this app doesn’t want to operate. It’s a complete waste of taxpayers money and I would like to know how much money was spent developing it, I would assume it should have been released on April fools day as it’s a joke. It’s like a television that can’t be tuned to receive any channels.

**Developer response:** Please email us at roadsafetytechnology@transport.nsw.gov.au for further assistance.

### 2/5 — Useful but inaccurate info at times

*2022-11-03*

I like the large display and the idea behind the app (the speed limit changes 17 times during my relatively short drive to work). Quite baffling (and annoying), though, that an RMS-backed app gets the speed limit wrong so frequently. I hope the next version can fix these errors.

**Developer response:** We are always working to improve the accuracy of the app. Please email us at speedlinksupport@transport.nsw.gov.au with the errors you’ve encountered. Please tell us the road name, suburb and the sign posted speed zone. We will investigate the error and make updates in the next release.

### 1/5 — Not the best

*2022-11-02, version 1.23.3*

Not the best app

### 2/5 — Promising start

*2022-10-17*

Needs a road speed display alongside the speed limit / flashing warning display - things like school zones are notoriously unreliable in ordinary gps maps so having your actual speed displayed vs what the app thinks is the limit would be good e.g. Showground Rd Castle Hill as I passed a fixed 60 sign the app announced I had just entered a 50 zone…
Camera data base needs updating as well - vintage camera on Castle Hill Rd near Coonara Ave was not mentioned …

**Developer response:** Thank you for bringing the incorrect speed information to our attention. We are investigating this error and will make updates in the next release.

Speed Adviser includes the locations in NSW where mobile speed cameras are allowed to operate. However, it does not include when these cameras are in operation. Speed Adviser does not provide alerts for other types of speed cameras, like red light cameras or fixed speed cameras.

### 1/5 — Users beware

*2022-10-16, version 1.23.3*

If you rely on this app in the country areas you will definitely be booked

Users beware

### 2/5 — Great in theory

*2022-10-15*

The idea is great and its nice to have an app I can pop open briefly to check the speed of a road we’re on… IF it was accurate! I drove from Nowra to Canberra via Nerriga and the app constantly showed the incorrect speed limit. Once we go into Queanbeyan the app was telling me the 80kph zone of the Kings Hwy was 100kph which will catch a lot of people out.

**Developer response:** Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are investigating this error and will make updates in the next release.

### 1/5 — Totally Useless

*2022-10-12, version 1.23.3*

If this is the NSW Government's best effort to stop people speeding, maybe they need to publish an app that correctly identifies the actual speed limit.

Installed and used yesterday and it was constantly telling me the wrong speed info almost everywhere, it couldn't make up its mind on Sir John Young Cres (50/80/50/60) and just as bad in School Zones.

Usual disclaimer - if the app is wrong and you get a ticket, BAD LUCK BUDDY.

Thanks RMS!

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2022-10-10, version 1.23.3*

Thought this was going to be a good app, doesn’t get speed zones correct..

### 1/5 — Crappy app

*2022-10-09, version 1.23.3*

Very crappy app which is very outdated for 2022.. We have Waze for a reason!

### 2/5 — Speed data is not current and needs more refinement.

*2022-08-07*

If anyone would know the speed limits in NSW you would think it would be Transport for NSW. Alas, this is apparently not the case. No where near it even. The app gives too many wrong speed limits, like for example approaching the harbour tunnel on from the north, it incorrectly shows 60k when it is 80k. There used to be a couple of hundred meters of 60k - years ago - long gone! Same on the Cahill Express way going into the tunnel. Frankly I would not trust this app until T for NSW get the data updated. Also there are no warnings unless you are actually over the speed limit, and it can take a couple of hundred meters before a warning is given. A warning when approaching active school zones would be great, because if you miss the sign then you can be through a camera before a warning is given. All up the idea is great, but needs further development and data updated to correctly reflect speed zones.

**Developer response:** Thank you for bringing this error to our attention. We are investigating this error and will make updates in the next release.

We are always working to improve the accuracy of the app. Please email us at speedlinksupport@transport.nsw.gov.au with any other errors you’ve encountered. Please tell us the road name, suburb and the sign posted speed zone.

### 2/5 — Western Highway failed

*2022-07-16*

I recently was caught by one of sneak car cameras on the Great Western Highway NSW at Mt Victoria , so with someone with a previous clean record I started to use this app, well what a JOKE !!!! the speed limits have not be updated, was in a 70 zone and the app was screaming at me because it thought I was in a 60 zone , UPDATE NEEDED!!!!!

**Developer response:** We are always working to improve the accuracy of the app. Please email us at speedlinksupport@transport.nsw.gov.au with the errors you’ve encountered. Please tell us the road name, suburb and the sign posted speed zone. We will investigate the error and make updates in the next release.

### 1/5 — Needs CarPlay and GPS signal

*2021-12-27, version 1.21.0*

App will will sit on ‘waiting for GPS’ signal, never advising current posted speed limit.

Need to add CarPlay

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t tell you the speed limit of specific roads

*2025-08-18, version 1.30.0*

I needed to do a search for the speed limit on a particular road where I was incorrectly issued a speeding fine but a brain dead highway patrol officer. - this app doesn’t have that function.

### 1/5 — The app baned me

*2025-04-13, version 1.30.0*

Please fix this problem

### 1/5 — Incorrect Speed Advise

*2025-04-03, version 1.30.0*

Latest update still showing incorrect speed advise on M8/M5. Still showing 80.

### 1/5 — Useless app

*2025-02-21, version 1.28.1*

App doesn’t even work after exiting and re downloading the app, can’t seem to get a signal at all with full 5G Bars! Horrible app from the aus government

### 1/5 — Inaccurate

*2025-01-26*

If I relied on the App to not get a speeding fine I would have received numerous penalty notices from NSW Revenue by now. The speed limits indicated on the app are wildly inaccurate. I'm not talking about new roads but roads that have been gazetted for many years. One example: the app said I was in a 100kph zone when, in fact, it was a residential area with a 60kph posted speed limit. Please do not trust this app.

**Developer response:** We are always working to improve the accuracy of the app. Please email us at speedlinksupport@transport.nsw.gov.au with the errors you’ve encountered. Please tell us the road name, suburb and the sign posted speed zone. We will investigate the error and make updates in upcoming releases.

### 1/5 — Inaccurate

*2024-06-11, version 1.27.0*

App is inaccurate. Incorrectly lists speeds on Significant State Highways that changed 10 years prior.
Developer wants us to do the legwork rather than understanding what the speeds are in their own jurisdiction.

### 1/5 — Wrong speed

*2024-04-10, version 1.25.1*

This app is dangerous. It displays the wrong speed limit.

### 1/5 — Waiting for gps signal

*2023-09-27, version 1.24.1*

Waiting for gps signal. Thats all i can see. Although location services is enabled for the app. Iphone 14pro

### 1/5 — Waiting and waiting and waiting for GPS signal

*2023-09-18, version 1.24.1*

Title says it all. Tested app on iPhone 13 Mini and iPhone 14 Max Pro and neither gets past “Waiting for GPS signal “. 😢

### 1/5 — ios doesn’t run at the background anymore

*2023-04-04*

It used to able to run in the background so I could run speed adviser at the background and google map to navigate. However, now it exit automatically in few minutes

**Developer response:** Please email us at roadsafetytechnology@transport.nsw.gov.au for further assistance.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Nice little useful app

*2020-07-27*

Two thing lacking
1. Make it CarPlay compatible. It is important to flash it on car screen.
2. Street speed limit Vs car speed

### 5/5 — Really useful but UPDATE NEEDED

*2019-12-26, version 1.15*

It’s late 12/19 and I’m keenly awaiting the update as it’s becoming quite overdue.

It’s proven to be a great reminder to remain within the set speed zones.

### 5/5 — Essential

*2018-11-13, version 1.14*

For me, an essential application adding a degree of certainty and mutual safety in an ever changing environment.

Well done RMS! 👍🏼🙏🏼🤪

### 5/5 — Love it

*2018-06-04, version 1.9*

Absolutely fantastic. I would not have lost my licence for a period nor been fined for School Zones had I had this earlier

### 4/5 — Watch

*2020-12-09*

Could you make for watch please.
Since we not allow to use mobile while driving, it’s not easy to use this app in mobile while we driving.

### 3/5 — School Zone

*2025-09-01*

The app would be more useful if it had more settings, such as only notifying me when I am in a school zone during the active times.

Some signs, especially those without flashing lights, are sometimes hard to see.

**Developer response:** Hi Johnny,
This is exactly what Speed Adviser does. It will notify you when you're in an active school zone (eg only during school terms / times the school zone is active). For more information about Speed Adviser, visit our website: https://www.transport.nsw.gov.au/roadsafety/topics-tips/speeding/speed-adviser .

### 3/5 — Need improve accuracy!

*2022-10-13, version 1.23.3*

It displays speed limitation is not accuracy. Ex: Orange Grove Road Liverpool-nsw. Speed limitation on the sign is 70 but it displays only 50….

### 3/5 — This needs to be made CarPlay compatible

*2022-04-25*

This app does just one thing, reasonably well. However, given this app is supposed to facilitate safer driving, it should work in CarPlay mode to better increase its safe usage. Developer, please add this feature to unlock its full potential/safety.

### 3/5 — Very basic app

*2020-09-16*

This app could have been useful few years ago. now free google maps with speed limit, car speed, speed cameras, navigation and so much more, makes this app outdated. Used it for a while but it’s more like distraction then being useful.

### 3/5 — Out of date

*2020-01-15, version 1.15*

I have this on permanently in my car but it’s really up the creek in several places. Speed limits have changed but this gives the old speed. Eg 70 down to 60 on Anzac Pde in Sydney. Clearly the 11/2019 changes still aren’t in there. Please hurry up!
