It drop connections, doesnt allow simple changes without crashing and you cannot reset to new stock. I have used this on one iPhone, and iPad and an iPad mini all with IOS versions from latest to years old and I cannot find a stable environment. I am an IT professional who has troubleshot enterprise roll outs. This this is not worth the free price tag. The designer needs to finish reading the the teach yourself how to make apps in 24 hours book before endeavoring to do anymore code. ### 1/5 — Bugs bugs and BUGS! *2020-06-28, version 1.1.7* I did program my ar636a with the wizard and at the end it updated in the receiver and everything craped out now it’s in SAFE DEFAULT mode i cant do anything with it and the app works horribly images missaligned menu not working im really disapointed ! ### 1/5 — What a joke! *2020-05-12, version 1.1.7* I can’t believe there is not an update yet. Last update over a year ago. Bought the AR636 AS3X technology a year ago or more. Constantly drops connection during programming with Bluetooth IOS among many other bugs. Decided to use wired connection but also dropped. I will not carry my computer with me to the park. What’s the point? I have two of these receivers in a box waiting for the app to improve. In the meantime, there are more affordable gyro stabilizers with safe. For example, Hobby eagle A3. I want to set them back to stock gain settings. This app has about 5 models in it under add new model . It does not have import model so i can get factory model settings from spektrum into this app . I also wanted to know which flight mode was safe mode and tech did not know . Everything im reading suggests i get a windows computer that I don’t have to install factory programming that came in my turbo timber . So what is this app really for other than changing gains ? It needs all the factory setups for all horizon bnf planes in my opinion instead of the 5 that comes in this app . Just my opinion though ### 1/5 — Some missing, critical functions? *2019-05-18, version 1.1.7* I’ve now played w this phone app & the PC app for most of the day. One thing I never know is if either of these apps has actually written anything to the receiver; I see NO indicator that reading or writing is taking place from either app nor a way to force either. I haven’t found an instruction manual for the apps yet either. After using the PC app and setting up all my preferences; I wasn’t sure if they were ever written to the receiver; as far as I can see, there’s no function to cause a write or read to occur. Following that, I connected my phone to the receiver, it didn’t seem to discover/read anything from the receiver and when my transmitter was ON, there weren’t 3 flight modes as I had set up w the PC app. Looks like the PC app saved the info on the PC but never wrote it to the receiver. Seems like there’s some simple, essential things missing in the apps or I haven’t a clue what I’m doing! ### 1/5 — Clunky / awkward app *2018-08-26, version 1.1.7* Have not attempted connection to receiver but app clunky and crashed within 90s of first use. Misaligned graphics during surface setup barely keeps them on the screen ### 1/5 — Worked when first came out *2017-10-21, version 1.0.8* Worked when first came out but hasn't worked in over a year. I have now gotten rid off all my Spektrum AS3X receivers and will never buy another one. ### 1/5 — AVOID!!! This software is Junk! *2017-09-16, version 1.0.8* Doesn't work at all. Buggy and crashes constant. It doesn't work on iPhones or android's new laptops towers or old laptops. Sometimes it works on a 15-year-old laptop but then it gets buggy and locks things up. I've never been able to figure out how to reverse compensation it's a complete piece of trash save your money and buy regular receiver and a separate three axis Gyro. Really disappointed. I knew when I could not control it from my radio that it was going to be a complete pain in the butt. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — AR630 Not Supported *2026-06-14, version 1.1.7* Disappointed that there are no options to update receiver. ### 1/5 — Disappointing! *2024-03-12, version 1.1.7* Neither is the Spektrum Bluetooth dongle recognized by iPhone or laptop, but this app also doesn’t list the AR631 receiver. Very disappointing especially when considering the premium pricing of Spektrum products. All my FrSky Open TX gear works flawlessly at a fraction of the cost. I may get a FrSky receiver for my eflite Commander. ### 1/5 — Unstable; lacking features *2023-05-10, version 1.1.7* This app only exists so Spektrum can say they have an app. It constantly crashes. It has no support for helicopters or anything other than fixed wing. And it requires additional proprietary hardware to work. No updates for years. Don’t bother downloading. Have been using this app to program/set up/tweak these four receivers without any problems well I should never say never but you get the point. This app had worked /is working on my iphone 4, 5, 6 and 6 plus. You must set the volume to max in order for the app to work properly. ### 5/5 — App and its use *2015-10-18, version 1.0.6* Had a lot of trouble with previous version and on it merits would have scored it zero stars as it would not work with iPad some times iPhone it would . I even sent it back to shop as I thought it was a fault With receiver turns out it was the app . New app fixes the issues so I give it 5 stars . ### 4/5 — Connectivity *2024-02-03, version 1.1.7* Just a little learning curve but I got it , you have to watch the right and left hand upper corner to ensure your connected and listen for the servos to wiggle after making a selection . Good for my older 636 receivers I still have x4 ### 4/5 — Good layout, easy to use. *2019-01-24, version 1.1.7* I bought an 7350 AS3X rx to replace an ar8010t. I also bought the Bluetooth dongle to connect to my iPhone 6plus. Following the procedures described in the videos I plug the dongle in to rx, connect the rx battery/flight pack and then open the app. While the Bluetooth dongle is still blinking, tap the Bluetooth icon in the top left corner of app and select the rx. Connects in seconds. Layout of the app is nice and easy to navigate. The only issue is the control surface graphics do not line up properly with the image of the plane on my iPhone but it’s easy to understand which are the ailerons, flaps, elevator etc. Setting the rx up was fairly quick. I reversed elevator servo in the app, and the flap servo in the transmitter. Also set flap/elevator mix in transmitter as well as dual rates and expo. This is applicable for the 7350 and 9350 as3x. I have heard that if using the 636 rx the dr and expo should be done in app/rx. So far I’m very pleased with how easy the app let me adjust the 7350. ### 4/5 — Nice App *2018-11-01, version 1.1.7* This app is well laid out and does the job. I am flying two planes using this on a iPhone 6S running iOS 10.3.3 an AR636 receiver and a DX6i transmitter. I especially like the "heading hold" feature for hand launching, but was disappointed there is no "safe" switch option available. The only annoyance is that the trim buttons on the radio do nothing. Maybe this is unique to the 6i. Thus trim is made through the surface set up or mechanically. ### 2/5 — This app is horrible. *2020-07-07, version 1.1.7* Typical Spektrum. You have to be a rocket scientist to understand the poorly written instructions for this app. Programming the receiver using my iPhone is extremely frustrating. Will never buy another receiver that needs a phone app to program.
