This App only allows for you to filter each of those things separately, making you search a giant amount of spells. ### 2/5 — There's an app on the android market like this & it's Free *2017-08-30, version 2.2* I honestly didn't want to spend 8 dollars on a spell book app but it's the only thing for IOS. This app isn't horrible it just won't really allow you to download anything but the basic SRD spells. There's more on my review *2014-03-24, version 1.5.2* I read on the app support that there was a computer program (much like SpellGen) that was compatible with this app. I like the fact that one exists, but is there a way we can get this app to be Windows PC compatible? I have an iPad, but run a Windows PC. Another suggestion would be to have the ability to create multiple spellbooks in case of high party member mortality rates. A way to save spellbook by character in app, and the ability to prep and cast spells with a way to track spell components would be great too. I figured that since I was wishing on screen, I could go ahead and wish for the moon :-) Please email me with any resources that are compatible with my setup. Thank you. ### 3/5 — Can't create book on iPad *2012-05-12, version 1.5.2* I bought this program for my cleric character who needs to memorize spells daily. While I can see all the spells I created on my Mac, it will not let me create a new spellbook on my iPad. I was hoping for the feature to create a book and move spells from the main list to the new book for daily use and then delete it when I learn more spells. If this feature got implemented, I'd easily give it 5 stars (especially for the price of the iPad app) ### 3/5 — Good idea, but flawed *2012-01-02, version 1.5.1* While the premise of this App is good, but it messes up the SRD files too much when it imports then (I've checked, the SRDs are correct). It does this most with Saving Throws and SR, which it either omits or mixes them up. Fix this bug, and I'd find this a lot more useful in a game (I'm relying more on real books than the App at this time). ### 4/5 — Not cheap, but... *2011-08-21, version 1.5* What makes this app better than the others I own (and thus worth more to me) is the FREE Mac app that integrates with it. I find it easy to make lists of spells for individual characters and sync them with my iPad. If the price bothers you, try the Mac app and see if you like it. The iPad app also works well with VoiceOver (important for having your device read out the details to you or everyone playing). I would like to see more scope for nanaging spells while you are playing, but I'm not sorry I bought this app. ### 4/5 — Works well, lots of information *2011-08-15, version 1.5* Spells are broken into Spells, Schools, Levels, and Classes, which is helpful. Choosing between d20 or Pathfinder spellbooks is also helpful. The search is fast and the search results show classes and levels for the spell. Is it worth $7 more than Spells 2.08? Now all description for Pathfinder RPG are gone even after multiple reinstalls and forced removals. The price was a little steep, but if it did what it said it does, it would have been worth the $8.00... BUT when trying to open it after purchase, it crashes and closes the program. I’ve been using it for years and it has the nicest interface and most complete spell list, without having to pay for add-one like in some other apps. Sadly the Mac app no longer works on the newest version of MacOS. I hope the developer creates a new version, even if it becomes a paid app on the Mac App Store. ### 5/5 — Incredibly useful! *2013-09-30, version 1.5.2* wonderful app, it's definitely a time saver when playing or running my pathfinder games. I really enjoy the filtering options and its smooth interface. hopefully in up coming updates it will allow filtering by all three of the filters at once, such as filtering all wizard spells that are 3 level and are in the evocation school. Also a wonderful addition for be to allow the user to create custom spell lists, as to keep track of the spells a particular character has for quick reference. ### 5/5 — Fantastic app *2013-04-11, version 1.5.2* I can't believe the whiney negative reviews! Do people think these are "real" spells?? Of course the app doesn't tell "how" to cast the spells... It is for RPGs... This app is simple to use, intuitive, updatable, you can switch between 3.5 and Pathfinder in a snap. I use this app at every game session. Otherwise love the app. Very helpful in the game. Easy to use and saves a lot of page flipping. Edited to add a star. Oooh, so THAT'S how you do it. Swipe over the spellbook with your finger and the delete button comes up. I need a portable spell book and the Player's Handbook 3.5 ed. is prohibitively expensive. I tried several options including bringing my entire laptop with me. I was still wasting time "flipping" pages. My biggest concern was that the spells would be paraphrased or otherwise modified. Neither was true. The spells you can download come straight from the D20 SRD resource for 3.5 and you can even edit the information. I also downloaded the Spellbook Master 2.2 for my Mac. Together they make me an unstoppable druid! ### 5/5 — Very useful *2010-04-08, version 0* I haven't failed to use this app at each of my D&D sessions since I bought it. It's a very useful reference; I can usually find spells faster using this than the DM with his Player's Handbook. I agree with Taelsin in some regards: it'd be nice to differentiate the spells into those known and not known by a character. Not sure how it could be integrated into the existing UI without cluttering it up though.
