## Newest reviews (3 of 23)

### 2/5 — Bugs

*2014-10-06, version 2.1*

The app itself was amazing, but the it's impossible to open once updating to iOS 8. It crashes instantaneously.

### 1/5 — Not Free

*2012-12-23, version 1.5*

This App is not free. $1.99 minimum to open it. I would like the chance to try it before subscribing. It's probably very good but I'm not intrigued enough to pay for it.

### 1/5 — It's NOT free

*2012-10-22, version 1.4*

It would have been nice if they would tell you that you have to pay for this. They make it look like its free but you have to pay a monthly subscription fee to use this. Because it wasn't clear I deleted it within 10 min of loading it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — stupid

*2021-12-04, version 4.5.0*

what’s the point of paying for a thesaurus?💀 pathetic

### 1/5 — Noooo

*2019-11-29, version 3.2.0*

Won’t let me use what is supposedly free

### 1/5 — What a joke

*2018-06-08, version 3.2.0*

Returned zero results for “late night”, than crashed and asked me to pay again to login after reboot.

### 1/5 — Absolute Rubbish

*2017-03-15, version 3.2.0*

Don't waste your money. Horrible app. It's a punched up search engine, you pay $7 a year to use. Phrases like "she looked up" are unreadable, to the app. The app wants you to use IT'S keywords - so to get a suggestion, you have to translate your phrase to suit their app.

Stupid. But not as stupid as I was, for buying this app.

### 1/5 — Dr

*2015-10-15, version 3.2.0*

Not worth a subscription

### 1/5 — Less than impressed

*2015-08-14, version 3.1.0*

Firstly it seems you have to subscribe to be able to use the app -79p for a year but this wasn't apparent in the description then it wants me to create an account but keeps telling me I have to be over 14 - even though my dob definitely makes me over 14, especially when I decided in desperation to try 1880. Not impressed on the whole.

### 1/5 — It isn't free at all!

*2015-01-13, version 3.1.0*

After you download the app, you have to purchase the limited version for an annual fee of $0.99 a year or the full version for $6.99 a year. You can't even try it out to see how it works. There is no limited time trial version either. I personally like to try an app before buy it.

### 1/5 — Misleading!

*2015-01-06, version 3.1.0*

This gets 1 star. Why? Cause it can't be used! You have to pay for the app, 99 cents for a limited version, $6.99 for a full version. There isn't even a temp trial for this which is my issue.

Sure some apps cost money but why have people download something that purports to be free and then immediately sock them with a fee? You literally can't log in, peruse the app nothing without signing up and paying. That's dishonest! Just make this a paid app!

### 1/5 — Doesn't work

*2014-10-04, version 2.1*

You only reason this would get even one star is because this review thing forces you to give them a star! The truth is I wouldn't them a stars at all if I had a chance and off ward of just write this review! This app is crap! It doesn't work at all! When you try to access this app it shuts down immediately! The fact that you have to pay a subscription fee to use this makes it even worse! Have absolutely no idea how they could possibly justify this! Manchester the review vouchers for Sean was written by the personal created this up in the first place just to get more people to buy it! New DO Dumb fall for it not on till the people can prove that this app isn't worth anything to the people who would need to use it and would want to use it!

### 1/5 — Waste of money.

*2013-05-12, version 2.0*

Title of this review says it all. The app requires a subscription before you can trial it and at 1.49 for the month, it's not a cheap trial. Save your money. I am a professional writer testing out apps for new writers and this is one of the most pointless ones I have come across. 1 star indicates there is something of worth yet I am afraid there is not. Should be zero stars!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — A life saver.

*2013-11-05, version 2.1*

You search a word and it looks for very creative and inspirational ways to describe it. For instance, you search for the word pain. You will be presented with small different tidbits of literature that would describe pain. Absolutely a a writers block savior. Couldn't live without this app, bravo.

### 5/5 — Great App for All Writers

*2013-10-09, version 2.1*

The basic premise of this app is that it provides alternative phrases about a variety of different topics. At first I was little puzzled as they are all from books so couldn't be used directly. However, the idea of the app is that it sparks creativity and this it certainly does. In bucket loads. I spent a pleasant couple of hours looking up phrases which would set fireworks off in my brain. Form my initial reaction I am now a convert and would highly recommend this app

### 5/5 — Great inspiration for writing

*2013-10-05, version 2.1*

This is a great app, revealing new possibilities for creative writing. Such an inspiration!

### 5/5 — Constantly inspiring me!

*2013-04-22, version 2.0*

I love this app! I am always being inspired by the phrases that past authors have used and I love looking at the history of phrases too! Super affordable I bought the year subscription so I can see what they will add!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2012-12-26, version 1.5*

This is a great app for finding different and interesting alternative words and phrases, and provides excellent entomological information.

### 5/5 — A deep breath

*2012-11-05, version 1.4*

This refreshingly creative app is the spark plug I now choose to start my day. Begin with a simple word and be led to a maze of delights of the written word, both obscure and familiar. This app is for those of us who " think in quotes" as well as those who long for the apt phrase. Or is my favorite part the bonus of having the ready answer to " who said that?" A year's worth for less than the cost of a movie!

### 5/5 — Great Writing Ap!

*2012-10-20, version 1.4*

This is still new with room to expand. But it is clearly different from the run-of-the-mill thesaurus. Fascinating color to use in writing with source references and background. Even this early in its development and with the limited time I've been using it, I can highly recommend it as another tool in the writer's quiver. Looking forward to the release of the Mac desktop version.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2012-10-09, version 1.4*

I can't imagine how they were able to compile all of this information and make it so accessible and so cool!!!!

### 5/5 — Incredibly extensive

*2012-10-08, version 1.4*

A friend tipped me off to this app, and I'm glad that he did. I am a freelance novelist and have been looking for a good source for cross-referencing phrases, and for finding obscure phrases to include in my descriptions when I write...I've only been playing with this app for a few hours but I am already finding it useful. It has a ridiculous number of cross-referenced phrases and definitions, and it even tracks the phrases through literary history. Can't wait to see what else I can discover about it.

### 2/5 — Not worth it

*2016-01-26, version 3.2.0*

The app is fine for what it does, but I'm not renewing my account after the free trial--there is absolutely no reason for a subscription charge. Just list the app for a flat fee and be done with it.
