## What is Spinstack Vinyl Collection?

Spinstack is a vinyl collection app built for the way you actually listen.

A vinyl collection is not a list. It is a self-portrait in twelve-inch resolution. Every record on your shelf is something you chose. Every spin is something you came back to. Every gap is something you have not gotten to yet. The collection knows things about you that you forgot.

Spinstack gives the shelf a voice. It sees the records. It hears the spins. It remembers the nights. It connects you to the friends who collect the way you do. And it can talk back about all of it in your phone's own voice, on-device. No cloud. No servers. No compromise.

HIGHLIGHTS

Spin Reports. Your month and year in vinyl. Pick any month or year for a recap computed live from your spin log: top records and artists, moods, listening time, and your best streak, with an AI-written summary and a shareable card. A heads-up lands when a new report is ready.

Crews. A private circle of up to eight collectors. One shared feed, a crate you build together, and a weekly Crew Spin everyone chases at their own pace. Invite-only, nothing public.

Now on Apple Watch. A listening companion on your wrist. Start a Now Spinning session, drop the needle, and the watch tracks each side with a countdown ring and a wrist tap to flip near the end. Swipe through Today's Pick, The B-Side, and your streaks. Log a record, react to friends, and ask Siri from the wrist.

Scratch Detection. Start a Silent Session, drop the needle, and Spinstack listens through the microphone for the surface scratches on the record you are playing, mapping where they sit, track by track. On-device and opt-in, in Spinstack Labs.

AI Liner Notes. Apple's on-device language model, opt-in in Spinstack Labs, writes personalized text across eleven surfaces, from a Vinyl DNA narrative and Crate Dig pitches to session recaps and your Spin Report. It runs entirely on your device. No data leaves the phone. Requires Apple Intelligence.

Groove Vision. On iPhone Pro and iPad Pro with LiDAR, scan the playable surface of a record in four close-up quadrants. LiDAR reads the depth of every scratch, the camera reads the texture, and the worst quadrant sets the headline grade, because the needle hits every scratch.

Scrobble to Last.fm. Every spin you log scrobbles automatically, with an offline queue for outages. The Last.fm hub shows lifetime top artists, albums, and tracks, plus Wantlist Candidates and Forgotten Favorites.

Marketplace, in the app. Sell straight from your collection. List records, manage inventory, and handle orders without leaving Spinstack.

Gift Mode. One search across the collections and wishlists of friends who opt in. Never buy a duplicate. Local to your device.

DAILY ESSENTIALS

Catalog every record on Discogs. Browse shelves that look like shelves. Log spins with rating, notes, and moods you invent yourself, or Quick Log with one long-press. Tap an NFC sticker to log without unlocking the phone. Share your activity through The B-Side. Find any pressing fast with the barcode scanner. Add records not on Discogs in any format, for the bootlegs, mixtapes, and flea-market finds. Ambient Listening Mode fills the screen with a rotating cover and a session timer.

Your library backs itself up to iCloud automatically, and keeps working when Discogs has an outage by falling back to your saved copy. First-class iPad layouts, an Apple TV companion, and Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets for your last spin, current scrobble, and collection stats.

### 5/5 — This app grew!!!

*2026-07-01*

I had the opportunity to be a tester for this app from the beginning. I’ve watched it grow from the beginning. I love the b-side the most! It’s like a hang out with your friends and their records. I also love the look of the app in general. Visually amazing, is an understatement. The interface is hands down the best!

### 5/5 — Just Fantastic

*2026-06-02*

Listening to records is my favorite pastime. This app has only improved this important part of my day for me. It allows me to engage with my collection in new ways dig into crevices I forgot I had. The fact that it is a one time purchase is so refreshing and developer seems great. Get this if you love vinyl!

Update: the new large update only makes it better. Fantastic developers!

**Developer response:** This made my week, thank you.

“Dig into crevices I forgot I had” is exactly the feeling I built Spinstack for. The rediscovery moment, that’s the whole point. Glad the analytics and What to Spin are doing what they were supposed to do.

Also, thank you for circling back to update after 1.4. That kind of follow-through is rare and it doesn’t go unnoticed. More coming.

Spinstack stays one-time, forever. That’s a promise. 🎶

### 5/5 — The Best There Is

*2026-05-10*

An amazing app that keeps getting better. A feature rich vinyl collection management app with many unique aspects. Logging spins, scrobbling to Last.fm, writing and reading NFC tags for your collection, and Discogs Marketplace management are just a few of features that set this app apart from the others. The developer is incredibly responsive and has a true desire to create an app that is useful to the vinyl community, Discogs users, and Last.fm vinyl scrobblers. If you have a vinyl collection, this app is for you.

**Developer response:** This means a lot. Thank you for taking the time to write this.

The features you mentioned are exactly the areas where we spend the most time. Spin logging, Last.fm scrobbling, NFC tags, Discogs Marketplace. These are the things vinyl collectors actually use every day, and getting them right matters more than adding flashy features nobody asked for.
We read every piece of feedback that comes in. Most of what ships in each update comes directly from conversations with collectors like you. The roadmap is built by the people who use the app, not by us guessing in a vacuum.

More is coming. We are not close to done.

### 5/5 — Amazing and only getting better

*2026-04-25*

Been using app for my collection and it’s been amazing . From the interface to the insane insights section. The price watchdog is set up nicely for great details on my collection. Lots of great things done in a short amount of time. Can’t wait to see what’s coming next !

**Developer response:** This means a lot. The insights section and Price Watchdog were built specifically for collectors who want real data about what they own, not just a list of titles. Knowing that someone is actually using those tools the way they were designed makes the work worth it.

More is coming. The roadmap is full and the updates will keep shipping. Thank you for being an early user.

### 5/5 — Very great UI for tracking

*2026-04-21*

Love the layout of this app and how similar to Apple UI it is. I like it much better than the iOS Discogs application. I would love to see more seamless design choices like when you click into collection, the A-Z scroller doesn’t work and the boxes are slightly clunky, but otherwise great amazing for logging and viewing. Also priced very fairly. The other competitor application is wildly more money than this, and this arguably has more features aside from the seller dashboard. Great app, hope to see it continue to get updated!

**Developer response:** Thank you for the five stars and the thoughtful note. You caught something we were already tracking down.

The A-Z alphabet scroller is fixed in the next update. Tap a letter to jump, or press and slide your finger up and down the strip to scrub through your whole collection with a gentle haptic on every letter boundary. iOS 26 had quietly changed something underneath it, which is why it had stopped responding.

On the boxes feeling slightly clunky: we recently smoothed out a few things in Collection and Wishlist. Faster scrolling on large libraries. A status line at the bottom that names exactly what you're looking at. Pull to refresh that brings back the whole library instead of dropping you to the first page. Let us know what else feels off.

Thanks for spinning with us. There's more coming, including a full-screen record-spinning companion we've been calling Ambient Mode. Version 1.3 should come out early May.

The Spinstack Team

### 1/5 — Parsing Erros

*2026-04-17*

The connection to Discogs was swift, and I immediately saw my collection and want list. However, I’m unable to search for records within my collection. Whenever I attempt a search, I encounter the error message “Data parsing error: The data couldn’t be read because it is missing.” This frustrating issue renders the app unusable.

**Developer response:** Hi yabi,

Thank you for taking the time to report this. You were right, the data parsing error was a real bug, and I'm sorry it made the app unusable for you. The fix is out now in version 1.2.4. The root cause was a strict decoder that failed when Discogs returned records with missing fields like catalog numbers. It now handles those gracefully.

If you'd give the updated version a try, I'd appreciate it. And if you hit anything else, email me directly at info@spinstackios.app and I'll treat it with the same urgency as this one.

Thanks for giving Spinstack a shot in the first place.

### 5/5 — Amazing Record app!

*2026-04-09*

As someone who collects Vinyl and actively DJ’s this is the best record app I have ever used and for a one time purchase what an incredible value!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the kind words! It means a lot hearing that from someone who actively DJs and collects. That's exactly the audience I built this for. Enjoy spinning your collection and if you ever have feature ideas, I'm all ears!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4.5 — 2026-07-18

Spinstack 1.4.5 is the biggest update yet: your listening gets reports, your collecting gets company, and your records get a health check.

SPIN REPORTS
Your month and year in vinyl, on the Insights tab. Pick any month or year for a recap computed live from your spin log: total spins, unique records, listening time, your best streak, most-played records and artists, and your mood breakdown, with an AI-written summary and a shareable card. A notification lands when a new report is ready.

CREWS
A private circle of up to eight collectors. One shared feed everyone can react to, a crate you build together, and a weekly Crew Spin everyone chases at their own pace. Invite-only, nothing public, and your block list always wins.

MAKE YOUR OWN MOODS
The mood row now ends with a New Mood chip. Type anything (Porch Weather, Crate Digging) and tag your spins with it. Your moods appear on spin rows, share cards, filters, and analytics, and they sync across your devices.

A CONDITION TAB, IN LABS
An opt-in fifth tab for your records' health: scan or listen for wear, see how much of your collection is graded, and check the most valuable ungraded records first. Adapts to your iPhone, with or without LiDAR.

DEEPER AI LINER NOTES
Session recaps written like diary entries from the records you actually played, streaming text, thumbs feedback, shareable recap cards, and a one-line reason for today's pick. Eleven surfaces now, all on-device, all opt-in.

SMARTER WHAT TO SPIN
Today's pick can consider the weather outside (opt-in), and it no longer repeats what On This Day already shows.

MAKE YOUR AVATAR YOURS
Set an emoji on a color you pick, your Memoji or Genmoji, or a photo instead of your Discogs picture. Friends see it across The B-Side and your crews.

AND MORE
- Tap the Your History card on a record to relive every spin, with your notes side by side.
- Tap an artist's name to see everything you own by them.
- Stylus Hours in Labs: track the life on your needle, with a wear ring, a Wear Over Time graph, and a heads-up before it is due.
- Records with no Discogs track times now estimate listening time, so every spin counts.
- Complete Your Artist is faster and steadier, and its format buckets finally match Discogs.
- Groove Vision retuned, with scan insights and per-record condition history.

Records remember. We listen.

### 1.4.4 — 2026-07-01

A big update. Spinstack comes to Apple Watch, holds steady when Discogs has a bad day, scrobbles through Last.fm outages, takes any format of custom record, and starts backing your library up on its own.

Spinstack on Apple Watch. A listening companion on your wrist. Swipeable pages for Today's Pick, The B-Side, recent spins, a Listening page, and Log a Record. Start a Now Spinning session, drop the needle, and the watch tracks the side with a countdown ring and a wrist tap to flip near the end, even with the watch asleep. Each record logs a spin and the session saves to your iPhone. React to friends from the wrist, add complications, ask Siri, and on Apple Watch Ultra map Start a Session to the Action Button. Localized in all 14 languages.

Steadier when Discogs wobbles. The Discogs API has had repeated outages lately, so Spinstack now makes clear when it is Discogs, not the app, names what is wrong, and shows when it recovers. Your collection falls back to its saved copy instead of erroring, and a record you add during an outage queues and submits automatically once Discogs is back, checking first so nothing is added twice. We also run our own status page in Settings.

Scrobbles survive Last.fm outages. Log a spin while Last.fm is unreachable and Spinstack holds the scrobble, then sends it automatically when the service returns, so a listen is never lost.

Custom records, beyond vinyl. Add a record that is not on Discogs in any physical format, cassettes and mixtapes, CDs, MiniDiscs, reel-to-reel, and more, not just vinyl. Pick a medium, then the type.

Automatic iCloud backup. Your spins, listening sessions, and custom records back themselves up to iCloud once a day while you use the app, a safety net on top of the usual syncing. Turn it off in Settings.

Gift Mode. Open Search > Gift Mode and scan a barcode to see which opted-in friends already own a record or want it, so you never buy a duplicate gift. Tap a friend to browse their collection and wishlist by genre. Pro.

Scratch Detection, in Spinstack Labs. Start a Silent Session and Spinstack listens through the microphone for the surface scratches on the record you are playing, mapping where they sit, track by track. A spot is Confirmed once it turns up in the same place across plays. On-device and opt-in.

Plus a tidier feed, cleaner Last.fm artist names, a fixed share card, search results that no longer clip, steadier playback, and an on-device crash record for better bug reports. Now fully translated in 14 languages.

Records remember. We listen.

### 1.4.2 — 2026-06-13

Spinstack 1.4.2 is all about polish and reliability.

BEAUTIFUL ON iPAD
Discover and your Insights now make the most of the big screen. Today's Pick sits as a wide banner with your Quick Picks right below it, and Wax Timeline and Stats line up in one clean, centered column.

NOW IN MORE LANGUAGES
Spinstack is now fully translated in Brazilian Portuguese and European Portuguese. The Spanish throughout the app now reads naturally for collectors in Latin America, while still feeling right in Spain.

YOUR UNLOCK STAYS PUT
Restore Purchases now brings your unlock back right away, and collectors who already own Spinstack no longer see a stray trial reminder after opening the app on a weak connection.

PLUS THE USUAL CARE
Smaller fixes and refinements throughout.

Thanks for collecting with Spinstack.

### 1.4.1 — 2026-06-06

Spinstack 1.4.1 brings collectors closer together.

ADD A FRIEND IN PERSON
Pair like an Apple Watch. Pick Show My Code and your Vinyl DNA appears with a scannable code at its center, drawn as a cloud of dots in your own colors. A friend points their camera, the swirl becomes the viewfinder, and you're added with a tap. Prefer to type a username? That's still one tap away.

PRESSINGS
A new showcase for collectors who own an album on more than one variant. Your colored vinyl fans out and spins, each disc showing its color, year, country, and catalog number, with a ring that tracks how many of the album's known pressings you own. Find it in Discover.

THE B-SIDE, LIVELIER
An unread badge lets you know when friends have new activity, and clears the moment you look. Double-tap a record to react. Your most-reacted spin of the week leads the You tab. Add a friend's record to your wishlist with Want it too, and see Albums you both want on their profile.

LAST.FM, ON EVERY RECORD
Open a release and see how it lives on Last.fm: global listeners, your own plays, and its top tags. Your Week in Vinyl crosses what you actually spun this week against your shelves, so the records you own and played rise to the top.

A SHARPER CRATE DIG
Crate Dig now shows each album once instead of repeating it as several pressings, so every dig is fuller and more varied.

PLUS POLISH
A refreshed welcome tour that shows off everything Spinstack can do, a tidier B-Side shelf on your home page, and the usual round of fixes and refinements.

Thanks for collecting with Spinstack.
