## What is Split Speak?

Split Speak helps two people have natural face-to-face conversations across languages using a simple table-friendly split-screen layout.

Place your iPhone or iPad between two people, choose a language for each side, and tap to speak. Each person sees their own side of the screen upright, making it easy to follow the conversation across a table.

On iPad, a three-column layout gives each person their own scrollable conversation history alongside the live translation, so you can always see what's been said.

Recommended Quality may require Apple Intelligence to be enabled in Settings and an on-device model download. Split Speak clearly explains this in onboarding and settings.

This update fixes spoken translation on devices without Apple Intelligence.

• Translation now works on every supported device. Previously, spoken translations could fail silently unless Apple Intelligence was enabled.
• Standard Quality mode is fully functional and can be selected at any time.
• Spoken translations are no longer cut off before they finish playing.
• Language packs that aren't installed yet can now be downloaded from within the app.
• Clear messages when the microphone, speech recognition, or a language pair is unavailable, instead of nothing happening.
• Voice Settings is now reachable from Settings, so you can choose a voice per language.
• VoiceOver support for the microphone and language controls.
• Fixed duplicated translations and repeated playback when starting and stopping quickly.
