This app is a GAME CHANGER. Oftentimes, as the organizer, I grab the bill and then figure out who owes what after. Creating a new spreadsheet every week and calculating splits was becoming tiresome. That and sharing the spreadsheet so my friends could double check my work was clunky and arduous. Ever since I started using SplitIt, my process has become as simple as snapping a photo of my receipt, assigning my friends to each line item, and then sharing the output of the app SplitIt excels at: 1. Typing up your receipt for you, with built in error checking if the subtotal doesn’t match. 2. Allowing you to manually correct errors (OCR is hard). 3. Doing the math so you don’t have to. 4. Exporting the splits as a message easily shared in your group chat. 5. Integrating directly with Venmo. 6. Remembering who you often go out with. 7. And did I mention it has a really snazzy UI? One small quality of life request would be to support customizing the message Venmo sends my friends, but regardless, this app gets a full 5 stars from me ### 5/5 — Really Smooth - Missing 1 Thing *2024-06-24* Overall, this app is super smooth and exactly what I’ve been needing. I’ve always made my boyfriend do the Excel work to figure out what people owe. And then having to text them and hunt them down on top of it, annoying. So love this a lot. Only thing I want to see is being able to add multiple photos. There are many times where we group order something for delivery and the receipt is in two screenshots, or more. Right now you can only upload one photo, but would love to be able to upload more for the times where the receipt is longer. Super happy to hear :) ### 5/5 — an app i’ve been needing forever *2024-06-09* the app has a clean interface and made splitting the bill with a big group so easy. splitwise has similar features but makes you manually input amounts so by using the camera feature to scan and generate items makes the process of splitting the bill so fast. love that you can share your updates with others and add photos once the bill has been completed. excited to see what other features they add! **Developer response:** Glad to hear!! It'll keep getting better :) ### 5/5 — Changes the game *2024-06-04* I was never opposed to putting my card down at big group dinners, until I started noticing I wasn’t getting paid in full. With this app, I can put my card down no problem. With its simple UI, I can easily itemize the receipt and split the often-neglected tax and tip equally amongst my party. Then I can send Venmo requests with the exact amounts it calculated. One nice feature might be if I could request the money directly from the app instead of being redirected to Venmo. Another neat feature might be allowing for Zelle or Apple Cash transfers to be made. Anyways great app, found it off your Instagram video. Happy creating! **Developer response:** Yep! Thank you :) ### 5/5 — Everything I wanted in a bill split app *2024-06-02* Split It is exactly what I wanted and needed but didn’t have to split meals and bills!! I didn’t like using split wise so I always used excel to split bills which means using my own brain but with Split It I don’t have to think because the app does all the work for me :D So easy to use, definitely can see some future features being implemented to heighten user experience but for a new app this is really good. **Developer response:** Thank you! Curious about the privacy disclosure, I went to read the company’s privacy policy. Based on the privacy policy it seems like the main business model of the app is to collect your personal info and the personal info of your contacts and sell or make them available to businesses. It makes no sense that the privacy policy gives the app the permission to give businesses you and your friends’ information when all I’m trying to do is split a tab. I would personally prefer a paid app that didn’t rely on data mining tactics to do the job. This sort of app shouldn’t even require an Internet connection considering how the iPhone has onboard OCR capabilities built in. **Developer response:** Hi, thanks for your feedback! To address your concerns: - A phone number is required because 1) it enables the app to authenticate you as a user, and 2) for your friends to easily add you to a receipt from their contacts (so you can see the totals/receipt information as well). - There is no requirement to allow the app to access your contacts if you don’t want to. This is purely so that you can add your friends to receipt more easily. We do not sell or give any of your personal or contact info to any third parties. It’s solely used by the app to enhance the user experience. - Yes the iPhone has OCR (Optical Character Recognition) built in, however (to my knowledge), it can only read the exact text on the receipt and will not return structured information like item names and their prices, so an internet connect is required. There are existing paid apps that might do this but my goal for SplitIt is for it to be free and easy to use. I hope that addresses some of your concerns. Without it, the app doesn’t work ### 2/5 — Domain expired- no support *2025-08-21, version 2.0.2* Unable to log into app, get support or anything. ### 4/5 — Great App, Technical Difficulties *2026-08-21* This is a great app if you’re going out to dinner with a ton of friends and want to split the bill. It works 95% of the time, but the 5% it does have technical difficulties, and then I just completely forget to go back and split the bill is kind of annoying. Still a great app! ### 4/5 — Great but not perfect *2024-07-09* SplitIt is super helpful with getting a quick snapshot of a receipt and being able to assign party members to line items. It gets a bit fussy when you get into the intricacies of splitting checks with dozens of line items in the case of big parties. For instance, swiping between faces in the lower dial and then tapping to assign them to line items is a bit of an odd interaction. I’d prefer to first select line items and then tap party members to assign to that line item. Splitting an item into multiple line items is a bit cumbersome as well because the newly created split-off item gets moved to the bottom of the list. My wish list would also include some sort of notification or activity update whenever collaborators make an edit. Currently, you have to have that communication happen outside of the app. It’s also a bummer that sharing the splitit link forces people to download the app to view any information. ### 4/5 — great overall! *2024-06-14, version 1.7.5* this app is awesome!! love the ui/ux on this one the most relative to other bill splitting apps. unfortunately the “search restaurants” feature is experiencing a bug right now, so i am not able to include which restaurant it was, but i’m sure it will be fixed in the next update. ### 4/5 — A good upgrade! *2024-06-10* I used to use an app like this to split but this makes it much smoother and I love the integration with the restaurant search up option. I would love to see a few things added like a birthday option, better splitting for example swipe to divide then divide to 4, and also allow skipping the receipt scan, I know I’m crazy but I like inserting it myself. This is the best app ever! It scans your receipt in a single photo and easily lets you assign items to whoever they belong to, or split the item evenly. It also lets you make different categories to sort your receipts into, so we make a grocery category for every month and whoever owes the difference at the end Zelles the other person. Highly recommend! Free version allows 3 receipt scans per day, which is plenty. You can always manually enter receipts too once your daily scans are up. Crazy how it read my receipt, which was two receipts, one with tip & the other with the items from a korean restaurant and it accurately captured everything. It also connects to my venmo so all I have to do is send the receipt & request money on venmo.
