## What is Splitsies?

Splitsies is a free app for tracking shared expenses with roommates, friends and travel groups.

Create a group, add an expense and Splitsies works out who owes what. No ads, no tracking, no paywalls. No spreadsheet to keep up to date.

Create groups for every situation
Set up a group for your shared apartment, a holiday with friends, or the bills you and your partner pay together. Add the first expense in seconds.

Add expenses your way
Log an expense with a name, amount, currency and a split. Choose how to split: equal, exact, by percentage, or by shares. Splitsies records who paid and works out what each person owes.

Capture Apple Pay payments automatically
Set this up once with a Shortcuts automation and every Apple Pay payment drops into a private inbox on your iPhone, ready to turn into a shared expense. Nothing leaves your phone until you decide to split it. There's a step-by-step guide on the Splitsies site.

Multi-currency, no paywall
Trip in GBP, paid in USD, recorded in EUR? Splitsies handles 160+ currencies with live conversion. No premium tier to unlock it.

Always know the balance
See a live balance for every group. The home screen shows who owes what and how much you're owed in total.

Trip stats
See what your trip cost. Totals, daily averages, budgets, spending by category, and a per-currency breakdown.

Settle up
When it's time to settle, mark a payment between two people and the balances update. Splitsies suggests the smallest number of payments to clear a group.

Activity feed
Each group has a full history of expenses and settlements, with who added what and when.

Sign in with Apple
No passwords. Sign in with your Apple ID. You stay in control of your name and email.

Private by design
No ads. No tracking. Your data is used only to run Splitsies and is never sold or shared with third parties.

Splitsies has the polish of a paid bill-splitting app, without the ads, paywalls or tracking. It works the same way for shared rent, a road trip, or the household groceries.

### 1.9.0 — 2026-06-30

Capture Apple Pay payments automatically. Wire up one Shortcuts automation and every payment lands in a private inbox, ready to split. Setup takes a couple of minutes and there's a guide on the site.

### 1.8.1 — 2026-06-20

Fixed a few reliability issues around adding and editing expenses. This update also improves settlement syncing and clears up split details when group membership changes.

### 1.6.1 — 2026-06-10

Big update this time.

You can now pick who actually paid an expense, not just yourself. Same for settling up: if someone hands you cash, you can record it from your side.

The group screen got a proper redesign. Activity, balances and stats each have their own tab, members have avatars, and there's a small "who pays next" hint for the next round.

Trips can export a final summary PDF now, handy for the group chat after you're back. Trip expenses can also be spread over several days (the hotel bill from day 1 shouldn't count as a day-1 splurge).

Also new: group icons, and invite codes show you a preview of the group before you join.

Plus the usual round of bug fixes, including a crash when exporting groups with a slash in the name.

Fixed the bug where the app sometimes signed you out when you came back to it. Should hang onto your session now.
