• See exactly who owes you and who you owe
• Open any balance to see how it was worked out

• Split with people who don't have the app. Invite them later and their share comes with them
• Get notified when an expense is added or a payment is recorded

Find It Again Later
• Search a group by description, person, amount, category or place

### 5/5 — Incredible!

*2026-10-19*

This app has everything I could need in an easy to use interface. It’s also super affordable for the premium option and I have no limits on how many tabs I can add in.

### 5/5 — Excellent App!

*2026-10-01*

This app is very simple to use and has a very clean interface. Having used it for a few months it has been even cleaner than Splitwise and I’ve been able to keep track of expenses with friends easily!

### 5/5 — Great for real estate expenses

*2026-09-29*

Open house supplies, staging touch-ups, photographer fees, lockbox costs, and team lunches, no more “I'll Venmo you later" texts. SplitterUp fixed that.

### 5/5 — So far so good

*2026-07-06*

Honestly with the price hike from Splitwise we needed an alternative. This app seems to be that alternative. Easy to use and so far no issues.

### 5/5 — The expense splitting tool my team didn't know we needed

*2026-03-05*

Running a small real estate team means constant shared costs: client dinners, office supplies, travel, marketing splits between partners. SplitterUp has quietly become one of our most-used tools.
The bank import feature alone is worth it. It connects to 7,000+ US banks, pulls in transactions automatically, and cleans up the messy merchant descriptions so everyone knows exactly what they're looking at. No more "what was this charge?" in the group chat.
For entrepreneurs and small business owners who travel or entertain with partners, the AI receipt scanning is a huge time-saver. Snap the receipt, assign items, done. The smart settlement algorithm then figures out the fewest possible payments to square everyone up, which matters when you're busy and don't want to chase down five separate Venmos.
What really sets it apart from tools like Splitwise is that there are no daily limits and no subscription. It's a one-time $4.99 purchase with every feature included. For a business tool, that's practically free.
If you're splitting costs with a business partner, managing shared team expenses, or running a small crew where money gets murky fast so stop overcomplicating it. SplitterUp handles it cleanly.

### 5/5 — Super easy to use

*2026-03-02*

The visuals on this app make it so easy to use even for those that struggle with technology, like me! All of my friends are using it which also makes it easy to use all the time!

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2026-03-02*

I’m loving this app! I’ve tried other apps for splitting expenses but rarely used them because I found them overly complicated. I was told about this one and it’s by far the easiest to navigate. It’s user friendly and intuitive. (Important for me as an older, less than tech savvy person) It’s very easy to add receipts and assign items to friends. I’m really glad to have found it. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — So much better than the others!

*2026-02-04*

For as nice looking and easy to use as this is compared to Splitwise I could never go back. I’ve tried a handful of the alternatives and nothing does everything quite as well as SplitterUp. Does almost everything Splitwise does, some things it doesn’t like being able to easily re-split past expenses with a new group member. Plus the receipt scanner seems to be faster and more accurate. All this for $5 and no subscription? And it doesn’t track or sell your data? What a breath of fresh air in the era of surveillance capitalism.

### 5/5 — Makes expenses easy

*2026-02-03*

People split expenses so many ways. And have different brains in how they view expenses - so SplitterUp is very thoughtful in being rather customizable based on your preferences. You can use it for meals, group trips, self budgeting, activities, etc.

Highly recommend for both type A and b folks!

### 5/5 — Makes splitting expenses easy

*2026-02-01*

Simple, clean, and does exactly what it should. Splitting expenses is quick and painless, and everyone knows who owes what. Love that it can scan my receipts. Great app for trips, dinners, and shared business expenses.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.34.2 — 2026-10-31

Connect with an invite link

Everything new since the last version, including invite links that connect you in one step, a new app icon and many fixes.

NEW FEATURES

• Open an invite link to connect. Sign up and you're connected automatically, or send a friend request if you already have an account.
• If a change you made offline can't be saved, SplitterUp says why and keeps it so you can fix it and save again.
• A household can share its Venmo, Cash App and PayPal handles, so paying it opens the payment app already filled in.
• A new app icon, and fresh colors on the sign-in screens.

IMPROVEMENTS

• Scanning a receipt shows your photo being read and its progress, and you can cancel a long scan.
• While a receipt is open for claims, its creator can change an item's name, price or quantity without losing anyone's claims.
• Tax, tip and service charges on a receipt are always split in proportion to what each person ordered.
• SplitterUp explains nearby invites before asking for your location.
• Group invite links show your sign-in options up front, including continuing as a guest.
• When a household leaves a group with an open balance, the group's admins resolve it, just as for a member who leaves.
• More icons for custom categories.

FIXES

• Group invitations from email open correctly, and invited people get a notification in the app.
• Receipts: scanned discounts lower the right items, equal splits divide to the cent, items keep their order, and people who join a group later can claim items too.
• Syncing: edits sync in the order you made them, nothing saved offline is lost, and when two people change the same expense both changes are kept.
• Currencies: totals show each currency separately, custom exchange rates stay put when you edit, and currencies without decimals, such as yen, split into whole amounts.
• Splits: a quick split needs a share for someone besides the payer, and switching to Custom or Percentage keeps everyone's share.
• Households: an even split counts invited members, household balances read naturally, and adding an expense or leaving works reliably.
• A share marked paid stays paid, and the breakdown under a balance lists every expense still open.
• Sign-in: the keyboard no longer covers buttons, a new account can sign out from setup, and logos and headers are readable in dark mode.
• Long amounts and names fit on every screen, more of the app is translated, and SplitterUp Live uses your receipt's currency.
• Other fixes for re-splitting past expenses, repeating expenses, data export, connection messages, payment app links and screen readers.

### 1.34.0 — 2026-10-08

Czech, Portuguese and Italian

SplitterUp now comes in Czech, Brazilian Portuguese and Italian. If your language still isn't there, you can ask us to add it. Also in this release: pay an expense in installments, choose whether an edit applies to just one repeating expense or the ones still to come, see how many payments are left, type amounts with a keyboard on iPad and Mac, and faster loading.

WHAT'S NEW

• Czech, Portuguese and Italian — If your phone is set to one of them, SplitterUp switches the next time it opens, or you can choose one under Account and then Language. While I wish we could afford professional translators, these were translated with AI tools. If something reads wrong in your language, please tell us from Feedback.

• Group settings, redesigned — Group settings are now a short list where every setting opens its own page, with a refreshed look. Your group's name, photo and color are edited in one place. On the People page, tap a person to see everything you can do for them.

• Your data loads much faster — SplitterUp now shows your balances, groups and recent expenses from your device the moment it opens, even offline, and updates them as it syncs. After you sign in, your groups appear right away and fill in as the rest of your data arrives.

• Repeating expenses and installments — Pay an expense in installments from the new Schedule section when you add an expense: choose Installments, set how many payments with − and +, and see every payment date before you save. Tap How it works for a quick walkthrough. You can also choose whether an edit applies to just one repeating expense or the ones still to come, and see how many payments are left. Find the details under Profile → Help & Support → FAQ — or tap to open them now.

IMPROVEMENTS

• You can now type the amount with a hardware keyboard on iPad and on Mac, calculations included, such as 12.5+3*2. Tab or Return moves from the description to the amount, and the on-screen calculator still works with touch.
• In Account->Categories, the built-in categories you don't use, and drag any category by its handle to put them in your order. Your own categories, and your groups' categories, can be reordered too. Find them under Account and then Categories, or in a group's settings.
• Joined a group as a guest on the web? Get a transfer code there, then enter it in the app to keep your balance and history.
• On the web, the People page now has its own address, web.splitterup.app/people. Old Friends links open it too.
• On itemized expenses, you can now add or remove people from items while offline. The change saves when you reconnect, and if someone else edited the expense meanwhile, their version is kept and you're told. Adding someone by name, Let them decide and inviting someone new still need a connection.
• When you add someone to a receipt item with more than one unit, such as three beers, SplitterUp now asks how many each person had instead of splitting it evenly.

FIXES

• When you make two changes in a row, such as editing a receipt item and then the expense description, both changes now save. Before, the second change could be thrown away.
• Fixed a crash on iPhone and iPad when the balance on the home screen animated.
• A repeating expense that missed some dates now adds every missed expense at once and sends you one summary notification instead of one for each.
• Balances now stay correct while you're offline after you edit or delete receipt items, after you delete or edit an expense that has a share already marked as settled, and for receipts that are still being finalized.
• Opening SplitterUp from an invite link, or after signing in, no longer stacks a duplicate screen.
• When you edit a group expense, someone who has left the group is no longer offered as a new person who paid.
• Resuming a paused repeating expense now continues from its next date instead of adding an expense for every date it was paused.

### 1.33.2 — 2026-10-05

FIXES
• Sharing a group invite link on the web no longer shows a false "couldn't open the share sheet" error, and cancelling a share no longer counts as one.
• Signing in from an invite link now takes you to the invite instead of your home screen.
• Expired or used invite links now say so instead of sending you to the login screen.
• Opening an invite link while signed out now shows who invited you, plus the invite's icon and details, on the sign-in screen.
• Editing a receipt right after claiming items no longer overwrites someone else's simultaneous change.
• Group admins through a household now get admin notifications and can clear a departed member's remaining debt, like any other admin.
• The unread notifications count now updates as soon as a new notification arrives.
• Adding someone new to a group now ends with an "Add (their name) to this group" button. Before, the only button was Done, which closed the sheet without adding them.
• Adding a person from the Friends screen now ends with an "Add (their name)" button below the email field.
• Who owes whom on a group's Balances tab is no longer cut off — the full sentence now shows, wrapping for long names, with the "No account linked" or "Pending" label moved underneath.
• Tapping back buttons/arrows now takes you to the right place when a notification, a link or What's New opens a screen in a tab you hadn't visited yet. Before, it jumped to Dashboard and left that tab stuck on the screen it had opened.

### 1.33.1 — 2026-09-30

FIXES

• After you pay someone through Venmo, Cash App or PayPal and tap Yes, I Paid, the confirmation now closes and shows your receipt. Before, it stayed open, and each extra tap recorded the same payment again.
• On the web, paying through Venmo, Cash App or PayPal no longer says the pop-up was blocked when the payment page actually opened.
• Payment notifications are now sent only after the server accepts the payment, so you no longer get notified about a payment that was actually refused, and confirming or rejecting a payment no longer produces a duplicate notice.
• Invites and friend requests you send during a brief loss of connection now go through as soon as you're back online.
• Removing someone you added by name from a group now explains that it needs a connection while you're offline, instead of failing with an error.
• On a receipt, a household invited to claim items now shows its name instead of "Unknown", the "Claim as" choices no longer include households you can't claim for, and the banner now shows how many items are claimed as well as how many invitees have claimed.
• Amounts in Bahraini, Jordanian, Kuwaiti, Libyan, Omani and Tunisian currencies now keep all three decimal places, so splits, settlements and balances add up exactly.
• If you created a receipt and claimed your items, you can now go back and update your claim before finalizing.
• If you run a group through your household, you can now change the group's photo. And if changing a group's photo or emoji fails, you now see one short message instead of a technical error.
• Households you set up for others now show their balance, and dissolving one shows what's still owed. Once someone joins, they manage the household.
• Payments recorded for someone before they joined SplitterUp now count after they join, so they no longer show as owing money they already paid.
• When you leave a group or are removed from one, its expenses no longer stay on your device. If you still owe money, someone in the group can record your payment.

### 1.33.0 — 2026-09-28

See who owes whom, person by person

A group admin can now turn off Simplify Debts, so everyone in the group sees who owes whom directly instead of payments combined across the group. And if your Bank Import subscription has ended, you can still see and disconnect the banks you connected.

WHAT'S NEW

• Choose whether your group simplifies debts — By default, SplitterUp combines everyone's debts into the fewest possible payments, so you might pay someone you never shared an expense with directly. A group admin can turn this off from Group Settings, under Settle Up. With Simplify Debts off, each person sees who owes whom directly, based only on what they paid and split together. Payments made before the switch count as plain transfers between the two people involved. If someone in your group is on an older version of the app, their screen may keep showing combined amounts until they update.

FIXES

• Households: paying, reminding and marking received from your household's card now uses the household, not your own balance. A group's Balances tab and a friend's profile show your household's balance as its own row with its own Pay or Settle up, and household payments show the right color, sign and name in activity.
• When your household pays for a shared expense, its card now shows what you're owed back, and an expense you helped pay for appears under "Involve me" even without a share in it.
• Splitting a receipt by item now lists everyone on Settle Up correctly, and splitting a discount by custom amounts or percentages adds up correctly.
• Importing from Splitwise now reliably recognises people you've already saved.
• Accepting a link request no longer fails when the person has a long history of shared expenses.
• Deleting a group with a lot of expenses no longer fails with a timeout.
• Pay no longer lets you record a payment that would double up on a debt a pending payment already covers.
• Recording money someone paid you no longer opens Venmo, Cash App or PayPal.
• Tapping a pending payment your household paid now opens its details with a Cancel option.
• If your Bank Import subscription has ended, you can still see and disconnect your connected banks.
• Guests no longer see Add Friend buttons that couldn't work.
• On iPhone, the app no longer signs you out after refreshing your login in the background while the phone was locked.
• Pop-up sheets no longer sit on top of the iPhone's home bar, and a group's screen no longer keeps extra empty space after its content gets shorter.
• The Bank Import notice now appears in your language, Splitwise import no longer assumes anyone's gender in German, French, Spanish, Polish and Slovak, and Polish names now read correctly.
