Sponge is a gallery cleaner that helps you clean up photo and video clutter from your device and iCloud in a fun, fast and easy way. Videos alone can eat up gigabytes of space, and Sponge makes clearing them out just as quick as swiping through photos, so you can free up space and save storage without the usual hassle.

Swipe to Clean – Sponge makes the process easy with a swipe-based interface: just swipe left to remove, swipe right to keep.

This app sucks. You have to pay to get the benefit, but it doesn’t even load photos. Going through and manually deleting pictures is going to be much more efficient, don’t waste your time with it like I did.

If your photos are stored in iCloud and not fully downloaded on the device, Sponge needs to fetch them from the cloud first, which can sometimes make loading feel slow. We’re actively working on improving this experience and optimising the loading process further.

This app does exactly what it says. Free version was plenty functional, but the price for premium was reasonable and the sort by media and random features are worth it. As someone with over 400GB of photos on my phone, this app is a lifesaver for cleaning out enough storage to keep my phone working. Being able to share the file from this app to export my bigger files is a game changer. 

One suggestion I have (if it’s even possible) is to be able to sort photos or media by size taken up.  Videos will always take up more, but being able to find the worst offenders first would make prioritizing storage so much easier.

Your suggestion about sorting by size makes a lot of sense. We are exploring it, but it is not very straightforward with the current design, so it needs a bit more thought.

For now, you can use “Clean by Type” and select Videos to quickly target the largest files first. This is available as part of Premium and works well as a shortcut for freeing up space.

I was having payment issues (on my end) and one of the app founders got back to me super quickly and was very kind. 

GREAT app, super useful if you are a photo hoarder. It works flawlessly with icloud photos and I have slowly been cleaning out 20 years of photos and videos. Highly recommend the $15 lifetime license.

No extra hidden fees, every other app claims to delete the pictures but there is always an issue. This does exactly what it should and I wish more people knew about it

Works great if you’re deleting recent photos, but if you go back too far it starts covering up your photos with a picture of an alleyway and hides your real photos so you cant see them. I skip and skip and skip and every single photo is just an alleyway. Does not work.

Sponge is exactly what I needed to clean up my chaotic photo gallery! The swiping feature makes it super easy and even fun to delete unwanted photos. I love how it remembers where I left off and the ability to organize by month or album. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to declutter their gallery quickly and securely.
