## What is Spoons?

Spoon theory was named by Christine Miserandino, who used a handful of spoons to explain to a friend what living with lupus felt like. Every task costs a spoon. You only get so many in a day. When they're gone, you're done.

Spoons turns that idea into a planner.

Each morning, you tell the app how many spoons you have today. Tasks are rated 1 to 5 based on how much energy they take. Then you place them — by hand, not by algorithm — into six honest buckets:

• Today
• Tomorrow
• Next Day
• Soon
• Someday
• On Hold

Each bucket has a spoon cap. When you try to overcommit, Spoons gently pushes back: rebalance, or accept that today is a bigger day than usual. At midnight, anything you didn't get to rolls forward. No guilt. No streaks. No shame.

WHY SPOONS IS DIFFERENT

• Manual placement. You decide where every task goes. No algorithm shuffles your day around behind your back.
• Honest caps. Buckets show "3 / 5 spoons used" so you can feel your day filling up before it's too late.
• Calm carryover. Yesterday's unfinished tasks roll forward automatically. Tick off anything you actually did and your rolling average updates.
• Built for low-energy days. One tap on Low Energy Mode hides everything that isn't Critical or High priority.
• Projects, tags, due dates, priorities. The planning fundamentals are all there — just lighter.
• Material Design 3 with light and dark themes that follow your system setting.

FREE FOREVER

The full task manager is free. No account. No sync. Everything lives on your device in local storage. You can use Spoons for the rest of your life and never see a paywall.

PREMIUM ($3.99 / month or $29.99 / year, 7-day free trial)

When you want more:

• Cloud sync across iPhone, iPad, and (soon) the web
• Recurring tasks — daily, weekly, monthly, or every X days
• Full-text search across every task, note, and tag
• Completion stats plus a yearly heatmap so you can see your patterns
• Quick-add bar — type and go, no detail screen

WHO IT'S FOR

• People living with chronic illness, fatigue, or pain conditions
• ADHD brains that need a smaller, more honest to-do list
• Anyone recovering from burnout
• Anyone who's ever ended a day feeling like they "didn't do enough" — and would like to stop

PRIVACY

Free users never sign in. No analytics. No tracking. No advertising. No third parties. Your tasks never leave your phone. Premium sync is opt-in and runs through Supabase. Subscriptions are managed by RevenueCat and Apple. We don't sell your data because we don't have it.

Spoons is inspired by Christine Miserandino's essay at butyoudontlooksick.com. Spoon theory belongs to the community; this app is a love letter to it.
