I’ve had Spot for years now and was feeling pretty upset by the changes in 24/7 emergency line providers. Did finally hear back after an hour of waiting an received wonderful support but it has been a stressful wait. ### 2/5 — Poor app *2026-07-27* This app isn’t very good. I constantly have to call customer service and they try, but the app never works. I try a PC laptop and even their site doesn’t recognize my email. It used to be fantastic, so user-friendly, quick and easy. I don’t know what’s changed, but it’s terrible. It doesn’t load when it does. It takes forever. The lines and writing are cut off. It’s nearly impossible to enter the necessary information. The app says issues were fixed a month ago, not sure what was fixed, but it’s a horrible app now. Monthly bill started between $60-70 a month. Their prices have only gone up since and now they have randomly taken out $186 from my account. I am immediately canceling all services with them and going to progressive if I’ll be paying that much. Over the past year I have had to resubmit, call customer support, and email medical records as well as claims appeals multiple times with poor results or no resolution at all. Multiple claims were improperly denied based on false categorization as pre existing conditions. The customer support call center is poorly supported and my appeals emails are now "not being received despite confirming the email address with the claims representation e letter by letter. We are spending hundreds of dollars per month on medication for our old dog to minimize her pain with no reimbursement for the past year. Bottom line: DO NOT use Spot. Half the time it doesn’t work the other half of the time it’s so frustrating to use because you’ll submit the claim and it’ll come back and tell you that it didn’t submit and here you’ll find that it did submit it 10 times in a row. Right now, I am trying to submit a claim every time it tells me to Select the Vet clinic I used I Select the vet clinic only to hit next and it keeps telling me to re-submit the Vet clinic🤬 ### 1/5 — Terrible *2026-07-28* If i could write a million of these i would i never leave a bad review for anything but spot is terrible. ### 1/5 — Unable to sign into account *2026-07-10* The spot insurance login info is correct but I am signing in from a different location from when I created the account and it won’t let me sign in to cancel the subscription. I then had to go back to the vet and ask them to rewrite notes so it matched a format that spot would approve (which is CRAZY). I then waited for many weeks with no progress on my claim and had multiple calls with them that left me frustrated. I eventually after a long time got my claim covered but I got rid of them after that…. I found lemonade insurance for way more coverage and a lower monthly. Because it was cheaper, I was scared the claims process would be terrible once I had to use it… I was so wrong. Filing a claim took like 10 minutes and I had an email the next morning stating it was approved with no issue! Long story short, DO NOT waste your time and money like I did! Go get lemonade (or another) insurance. I have NO IDEA how spot is still rated highly on pet insurance because all I had was bad experience for less and more expensive coverage ### 1/5 — Really bad app update *2026-05-25* Pets take forever to load or don’t load at all. Pet history not loading so there’s no option to choose an existing illness or accident, meaning I can’t file a claim from the app at all. Please reach out to our team at 1-800-905-1595 (M-F 8am-8pm, Sat 9am-5pm EST) ### 1/5 — Absolutely do not recommend spot pet insurance *2026-05-16* My policy did cover dental procedures and when it came time to file a estimate claim for my pups dental extraction they would ask for non existent records that even my vet called telling me they had no clue what else to send since they had already sent all of the medical records, they rejected the claim and then had me re open it again and then again asked for non existent records and rejected it again, I absolutely regret paying for this insurance and will not be recommending it to anyone ### 1/5 — Does not work in canada *2026-05-16, version 3.0.3* I went to register my account, even though ive been on it numerous times on the internet, and it doesnt accept postal code. I’ve had claims pay out within a few days especially if you’ve already filed claims under the policy. My only cons are the app can be a bit glitchy. You get so much for not only your pet but your wallet! I’ve had spot insurance for my first dog since we adopted her almost 3 years ago. I have had zero issues with the insurance nor the app. We tried a different company for my second dog and they just did not compare in price and the claim submission process was so difficult. Spot will reach out for medical records for you but the other company made us do all of that for them which can be difficult and somewhat annoying. We switched to spot for our second dog right after attempting to submit our first claim since it was such a hassle. I was playing fetch with my pet, and a freak accident occurred. He cried in pain. Immediately, I thought that $25 premium wasn't so bad. LOL I took him to the vet, and my bill was $388, something I wasn't ready for. That was last Friday. Today is the following Wednesday, and my claim has been paid exactly according to the terms of my coverage. I cannot commend Spot Pet Insurance enough for the ease and convenience of filing a claim and communicating with them. This is not my first claim, and my other visits have been the same—fast and efficient. I currently have two dogs, and now my children are switching their pet insurance coverage to Spot because they appreciate everything Spot is doing. I highly recommend Spot Pet Insurance for the peace of mind you deserve when it comes to your pet. Our beloved kitten, Hamilton, was diagnosed at 6 months old with a rare autoimmune disorder. Spot helped to cover the expensive costs of diagnosis, medications, and off and on hospitalization and vet visits over the next two months. We lost our sweet boy at 8 months old, a nightmare no pet parent should ever have to face. Spot was compassionate and gracious through the whole process. The app made it easy to submit claims, and Spot helped alleviate the financial burden so that we could focus on giving our best to Hamilton. After his passing, Spot reached out to us to offer their condolences. It has been so greatly appreciated during this horrible time. With that said, I highly recommend Spot Pet Insurance. They care about animals and their guardians. I have recommended them to many of my friends and fellow pet parents, and will continue to do so. ### 5/5 — Spot on! *2024-04-29* It took me years to sign up for pet insurance because I never thought I would find a company that I thought was fair and easy to work with.
