### 5/5 — Very good app!

*2026-07-08*

I really like the simplicity of how the map works. The best part is that there's a mode where if you have your camera up to the sky it will show the exact path the ISS will go when it passes. The notifications are great, and I love the tidbits about the ISS that make this app great! Even if it doesn't pass over me, it's still cool to see where it is always. With it I saw it twice and both times were so cool! Even if it did pass and either it was covered by clouds or the earth's shadow, it was still cool it know it passed over me! Sometimes the time can be off though. Like one time it said it would pass over in 15 minutes, then it said an hour.

I love spotting the Space Station! This app is amazing when it comes to being able to see it! Recently our family took a trip to the Sand Dunes in Colorado and it was incredible watching it move across the sky with the Milky Way as a backdrop!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — A problem

*2026-07-23, version 1.10.0*

Don’t know if I’m doing something wrong, but I get notifications EVERY DAY indicating the space station is above my location. And, I know that is not possible. What’s up with that? Is there a fix?
The old text system was on point.

### 1/5 — Too complex

*2026-07-20*

Spotting the ISS used to be simple and a joy. This app has made it so complex it is almost impossible, unless you have a degree in satellite navigation! Such a shame. I feel very let down

**Developer response:** Thank you for your valuable feedback. Please visit the Tutorials on the Settings page, which contain information that may help clarify the functionality of the Home and AR View pages. There is also a Frequently Asked Questions page under the Resources menu. We appreciate your patience, interest and engagement as we continue to push enhancements to improve user experience.

### 1/5 — Not working

*2026-05-31*

It doesn't work on my phone. It started the tour and it froze. Restarting didn't help.

### 1/5 — Fake

*2026-04-14, version 1.9.0*

This soooo fake me and me dad no see artimis station😡😡

### 1/5 — Confusing

*2026-03-13, version 1.8.0*

Confusing/ hard to use and understand/ previous service was great.

### 1/5 — Dumbest app ever

*2026-02-01, version 1.8.0*

It’s so basic, it doesn’t put the specific location i am in so when i do get my notification I look and nothing is there. I hope this app shuts down and never returns

### 1/5 — ISS App: Update is a downgrade

*2026-01-15*

In the prior version, Spot the Station, I could easily scroll the observation opportunities, but now, while the graphics are cool, the actual ability to view the viewing opportunities and just navigate around (UI) is just awful. It’s like a car with new tires, paint, and engine, but inside, the controls are frustrating. I stopped using the app and thus dont look to spot the station any longer. With my mind on space at the moment, SpaceX Crew 11 is about to return home, I decided to open the ISS app, and was reminded how bad it is, and only now decided to write a review. As a UCLA educated EE, with a consulting business tag line of Refining Innovation, I can assure you it has not been refined. It is unfortunate, as I enjoyed keeping up on its movements. When it was to be a good showing, I’d head down to the Manhattan Beach Pier to share the upcoming sighting with people and it was easy to do so. Now, there’s no way to easy share the information necessary for viewing it. I would be completely surprised if your viewing stats have gone up with the app, as opposed to just looking up Spot the Station. Let me know if you’d like to meet on Zoom, and I could really show you in detail the issues.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your valuable feedback. If you have increased the font size from your phone's settings, you may not be able to see and scroll the entireUpcoming Sightings list. Please reduce the font size from your phone settings. For direct support or to provide more insights, feel free to reach out to SpotTheStation@hq.nasa.gov.
Thank you for your patience as we work to enhance your app experience.

### 1/5 — GOOD IDEA THAT WORKS POORLY

*2026-01-01, version 1.8.0*

Why does this app require access to my phone’s camera? No explanation can be found.
Also, I can’t view the whole page when I get a notification of an upcoming sighting. The right side of the page is cut off so I’m unable to see the time of the upcoming sighting.
Have tried numerous times to correct this issue to no avail.

### 1/5 — ISS app

*2025-12-28*

In the old system, I got an e-mail in the morning when I could see the station that evening, ie when It was dark and the S was visible.

Now I get a message when its happened, which is less than useless.

A classic case of "If it's not broke, don't fix it".

Except you did.

Please have a re-think, I still find it fascinating.

Alasdair Lawrance

Now it won't accept my nickname.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your valuable feedback. You can go to the Settings page using the bottom navigation menu, then choose the Notification Settings, then use the drop down menu to choose how far in advance of the Station passing you need the notification. The app will send you 2 notifications: one at your specified time gap ahead of the passing and the other at the exact time of passing.

### 1/5 — 1 hours late

*2025-12-17*

When it is above me it tells me to look up! And in reality it was an hour ago. Now i need to look down! And i cant see anything.

### 5/5 — Ford T model Awareness who and where we are

*2026-07-31, version 1.10.0*

When I first saw the app I approached it with open mind and eyes. The first viewing was a few days away so naturally I got busy. The ISS was not on my agenda. Then I got a calendar notice-then a countdown T-. At that point Reality set in. A revelation came to me “There are people in that thing”. Just like there are people in those little red, white and green flashes that come by.Lin the sky at night. However They aren’t in an airplane they are in Space vehicle less the a Ford T Model and we as a people are in our infancy in relation to Space exploration and travel. Thank you developers, you helped me to awake!!

### 5/5 — I love it!

### 5/5 — Sky Candy

*2026-07-27, version 1.10.0*

It’s always thrilling to me to watch the ISS as it orbits overhead. The reason I can consistently watch it is because of the SPOT the STATION app. It’s a FANTASTIC APP in every way and I’m so appreciative of its functionality and availability.

### 5/5 — Bill S

*2026-07-26*

Outstanding app! I know it seems nerdish (I just made that up :-) but to get to outside and see the space station fly by is amazing. I often go out just after sunset and watch satellites go by, by there isn’t a better satellite than the space station, and this app makes it possible. I’ll sometimes go out to see it multiple times a night, then ponder how in 90 minutes, this thing went around the world, and I saw it twice in 90 minutes! Amazing!

**Developer response:** Thank you for sharing your positive experience with spotting the station through the app!
