I’ve had for 6 months now. First the cost of the collar I would think they would be on it to have it all running smoothly. ### 2/5 — App needs help *2021-05-25, version 1.0.10* Love my collars however it is impossible to do anything in the app before it crashes. ### 2/5 — I really want to love this system *2021-05-01, version 1.0.10* As the owner of three pups, I was looking for a gps collar system that could be used for all three. SpotOn seemed like a better fit than the Halo competitor. Setting up the fence via GPS was easy. Getting one free year of cellular tracking was nice. However, only one collar actually connects to cellular, and the app doesn’t even acknowledge it. No maps can be shared. As a matter of fact, the app continues to “update” and never actually works properly for any of its features. It is very frustrating. I really want to love this system, but the faulty app is making it difficult. ### 1/5 — Junk collar and app...crashes and is amateur *2021-03-21, version 1.0.10* I returned this collar due to the fact it was difficult to set up and app kept timing out and crashing, blue tooth barely connects and the entire system was a waste of time and money. Was really excited about receiving our collars today, however when the app doesn’t even run long enough to edit my dogs name.....come on!! ### 1/5 — Trash *2021-02-25, version 1.0.10* Complete garbage. Two of these collars purchased at almost $3,000 and they can’t even have an app that works properly. It is a joke. My dog was half way across the country and I never received an alert. Also, when testing the collar, it beeps right at the containment line, uses static mode for like a half second beyond the containment line, and then nothing else the whole time the dog is out of the containment area. Received today, returning tomorrow. ### 1/5 — Why would anyone buy this product? *2021-02-02, version 1.0.10* Best way I know to determine if a product I’d worthwhile is to look at the commitment (or lack) to continued app support. It’s been over 4 years since this app was updated.... utter junk. Compare that to their competitor Halo. Updates constantly to support their product and customer concerns ... a product that costs half as much and does more! I’m being charged a monthly fee to track my dog but I can’t use the service because the app does not stay open and shuts down when trying to connect. For the cost these should work without issue. It’s impossible to get anyone on the phone or to respond to my emails. Push notifications won’t work. The app never connects. The system seems like it should be marketed as being in beta mode, as it is not ready for prime time. At this point, the collars act as nothing more than mental decoys for my dogs. I am extremely disappointed. I really wanted these to work well. ### 2/5 — Containment NOT Good *2020-12-31, version 1.0.10* App is horrific considering this collar retails for $1,500. It hasn’t done anything to contain my dog yet despite following every instruction to the letter, and this app adds stress because it doesn’t connect to the collar, crashed every time, and fails to upload the maps from the collar (probably because it can’t connect). It’s a bad sign when, within the app itself, all of the FAQs revolve around the app crashing, not working correctly, etc. if the collar cost $200, then ok, but this is 100% unacceptable for something that costs over $1,000. The collar does successfully beep when crossing the threshold you set, so it established the perimeter successfully. That tells me the idea is truly amazing (setting up a fence anywhere), but the execution is terrible, adding more stress than reducing it, which is the entire point of the collar. If SpotOn figures out this app and makes everything more user friendly, this will be an amazing device ### 3/5 — Please fix the app and it will be a great solution *2020-11-29, version 1.0.10* The collar and function definitely had a lot of thought and experience out into it. The accuracy is good and allows for the use case of several maps for location and function as I wanted. The app is not useable due to constant crashing. I receive containment notices, but due to app crashing the tracking and map visualization does not add the value it could. Once the app is stable, this overall solution will be one of the best options for people with large areas, travel frequently or have others watch their dogs at different locations. ### 2/5 — Containment is good, nothing else is. *2020-11-15, version 1.0.10* This review is specifically about the app. Containment is good, set up a map and it seems to be working well. Warnings seem to be going off just inside the fence line as I’d hoped. As far as the app goes, rarely does it even connect through Bluetooth, so it’s a process to even set the static correction level. Despite having strong cell service on both the collar and phone, tracking has not worked a single time, always tells me that the collar is disconnected. Have had zero luck uploading maps to my phone, even after following all the directions on the app. Received a message to update the collar to fix an important power on issue, connected it to the computer as instructed, but nothing happens as far as I can tell. Nothing on the computer tells me if anything is happening prior to hitting reboot on the collar, so I have zero indication as to whether the update happened or not. The bottom line is that the containment seems to work well, but the tracking, app, and other system interactions seem to be severely lacking. I’m a bit disappointed considering the cost, but it’s still cheaper and quicker than dog proofing 40 acres of fence. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Garbage *2022-09-21, version 1.1.2* The app is completely worthless. Neither the tracking feature nor any other feature works. App crashes for no reason at all. The collar can only store one map and even that one map will quit working if you leave that map location and try to use the collar elsewhere. Waste of money. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t Function *2022-06-20, version 1.1.2* Collar shuts off unexpectedly so I never really know if my dog will be able to run off, if he does it’s 50/50 on whether the app will be down. My dog has gotten off my property only slightly less than with nothing at all using this product. Embarrassed that I spent 1,500 bucks on this. ### 1/5 — Waste of Money & Terrible Customer Service *2022-02-18, version 1.1.2* If you have bought a SpotOn collar I highly recommend that you send it straight back. The whole experience was nothing but a nightmare. It worked for several weeks and completely stopped working. Customer Service was no help and I ended up returning it. They refused to issue a refund because I cut the extra length of the collar strap off because it was cumbersome and made the device hang sideways. The collar and the app do not communicate properly. I stopoed receiving notifications, wasn’t able to add a map, wasn’t able to enable or disable existing maps, deleting a map from the app does not delete it from the collar, changing the map name on the app doesn’t change it on the collar, receive error messages when trying to update the software, collar randomly turns itself off. ### 1/5 — Poor app *2022-01-06, version 1.1.2* This is a terrible app. It worked for maybe a week, then we had to reset. Never REALLY led me to my dogs location. It did work for containment with notifications and shocking if our dog left containment. However if the dog was running really fast it wouldn’t even do either. The collar itself stopped charging multiple times it was very finicky. The map reset often times. The technology is not where it should be for this price point of $1500 plus a monthly service fee. ### 1/5 — Waste of money *2022-01-03, version 1.1.2* If you buy the collar you’re going to want to send it back (they don’t pay for you to return it btw). It’s very difficult to set up. The app is a pain to use. It makes high pinched sounds to warn the dog it’s getting near the boarder for 15 feet then it shocks the dog once when it leaves containment then after that it just tracks the dog. By their own admission it relies on antiquated cell phone protocol. Because of that, it has poor connection capability. The GPS sensitivity is weak. Notifications are prompt (within seconds) when my dog leaves the fence or the battery is low.
