A one-time ask to accept the Terms and Privacy Policy
The first time you open this version, a sheet asks you to review and accept our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy — both are a tap away to read in full. "I agree" once and it's gone for good. "Not now" gets you straight into the app, for two weeks, before it insists. New signups see the same agreement right above the account-creation buttons, with Apple and Google now sitting under the email form so one notice covers all three.

We'd like to know how it's going
After a good moment — you joined a session, cast an MVP vote, uploaded footage, marked who played — SpoVote may ask "How's SpoVote so far?" It waits until you've had the app a few days, holds off if anything has gone wrong this session, and once you've answered it stays quiet for months. "Loving it" gets a thank-you and, a day or more later, the store's own rating prompt at a natural pause. "Could be better" opens Send Feedback, and your note lands in front of us first. "Maybe later" means exactly that. There's also a new "Rate SpoVote" row in Settings for whenever you feel like it.

AI features now ask before anything leaves your phone
Scanning a flyer and "Enhance with AI" used to just go. Now the first time you use either, a "Send to an AI service?" dialog explains what gets sent — the photo or text you picked, nothing more, never used to train models — and "Not now" sends nothing at all. You'll see it once. Sessions written with either tool carry an "AI-assisted listing" tag on the session page; tap it to see what that means, and double-check dates, prices and venue details with the host.

Reporting starts with why
Every report — a profile, group, session, spot or clip — now opens with "Why are you reporting this?": Spam or scam, Harassment or bullying, Inappropriate or explicit, Copyright — this is my content, or Something else. Pick one and you're done; the written description is optional now. Choosing Copyright points you to spovote.com/copyright to file a formal notice, so we can act on it under the DMCA.

Taken-down footage stays out of everyone's way
When a clip is removed after a copyright complaint or for breaking the rules, it drops out of every feed, reel and wall, and the full-screen viewer skips past it. Only the person who uploaded it still sees it, as a "Removed" card under "Not visible to others" on their profile and the session's footage tab, with a "Learn more" link and — for copyright removals — the counter-notice route if it was a mistake.

Smoother & more stable
- The Privacy Policy in Settings was rewritten to say plainly who stores what (video and livestreams on AWS, the rest on Supabase), how to get a copy of your data, and how long backups are kept
- Send Feedback now says up front that an AI service sorts feedback, so leave passwords and payment details out
- Thumbnails on iPhone now decode at a higher priority, so the screen stalls less while a wall of footage loads

Footage opens full screen, everywhere
The Footage tab on your profile, a friend's, a group, a session and a location used to open a side-scrolling gallery. Now a tap opens the same full-screen viewer as Discover and Home, with a filmstrip of thumbnails along the bottom. Swipe up and down to move through the clips, left and right to jump to the next session or uploader, and the Like, Chat, Share and Save rail rides along. Browsing from someone's profile, the button at the bottom reads "View this session" and takes you there; on the session's own tab it stays "Follow this session". Your own clips keep a visible Delete button.

Long videos upload in parts
Pick "Long video (split into parts)" when adding footage and the app cuts a clip that's too long for a single upload into pieces of up to 13 minutes. Drag the boundaries on the filmstrip — a preview shows the exact frame at each cut — then confirm, and the parts upload one after another with a "Part 1 of 3" line so you can see where it's up to. For ordinary phone footage the split is near-instant, with no re-encoding. In the viewer, each piece is labelled "Part 2 of 3".

The Nearby map opens on you
It used to frame the middle of whatever games had loaded, which before your location arrived could be a city hours away. Now it centres on where you are and only widens to take in games nearby. It also stops trusting a location fix the phone cached an hour ago — anything older than a few minutes gets refreshed first. And Home's "Find a game near you" buttons now land on that map instead of the For You feed.

Follow moved to the bottom of the session card
The Follow pill used to sit in the card's top-right corner, above the title. It now anchors the bottom-right, beside the attendee avatars, and the top-right carries only the "Starting soon" or "Played" badge. "X miles away" now sits under the address — on the session card, the map's session sheet and the session header alike — so it reads as part of the place.

Favorite spots on other people's profiles
They used to look empty unless you already followed the person. Now anyone's favorite locations show, unless they've kept them private — in which case the section says so, with a lock. And each spot carries a star, so you can add someone else's home court to your own favorites in one tap.

Switch sports inside the endorsement sheet
Endorsing a friend across several sports meant closing the sheet and reopening it once per sport. The sport header is now a dropdown whenever there's more than one — pick another and the skills swap in place. A sport with nothing to endorse says so instead of going blank.

Smoother & more stable
- Discover's "Create a session" and "Host a run" buttons in the empty states used to do nothing; they now open Spontaneous Play
- The "Players you've played with" carousel moved from your profile's About tab to Activity, under your session calendar, and the stat band at the top is now Sessions · Followers · Following · MVPs
- Session chat no longer shows a "?" avatar for someone who left the session or joined as a walk-in — their real initials and colour load
- Footage thumbnails that intermittently came up blank now load reliably, fetch a fresh link when one expires, and stay cached between visits instead of re-downloading every time
- Display names need at least two characters now, at signup and in Edit Profile
- The scouting report on the About tab and the share card uses crisp icons instead of emoji for grad year, height and weight
- The one-time hint on Discover now explains why following people is worth it, rather than suggesting you needn't

Everything looks new
We rebuilt how the app feels, screen by screen — real depth and shadow under the cards, glass that blurs what's behind the bottom bar and the headers, bigger, more expressive type, and motion with a little spring to it. Screens hand off to each other now instead of cutting, loading states shimmer instead of sitting blank, and the moments worth celebrating — a new MVP, a session you pulled together — get an animation to match. Home, Discover, your sessions, your profile, onboarding, the inbox, chat, stats and the upgrade screen all went through it.

Footage, reimagined
Your clips now live in a full-screen, swipe-up feed — tap any one to go immersive and flick through the rest, each looping and then handing off to the next on its own. A rail down the side lets you like a clip (with a running count), open its chat, save it, or share it. Every clip carries its session, so one tap on "Join this run" drops you into the game it came from — and you can tag the players who are in it, or feature a favorite publicly on spovote.com/highlights. Footage on Home and Discover opens the same viewer, and a Near me / Following / All switch decides whose clips you see.

Your groups got the biggest change of all
A group's page opens on Sessions now, not its footage — with the count right on the tab, and Members beside it. Its next session rides in a strip above the tabs, one tap to follow. What you can do finally fits who you are: an organizer gets a button to schedule the next session, a regular drops straight into the chat, and someone just looking at a public group gets a "Join up" bar that doesn't nag. The header collapses as you scroll, the way your own profile already does.

You can ask to join a private group
A private group used to dead-end at "invite only." Now there's a "Request to join" button, and it becomes a "Requested" pill while an organizer decides. Organizers see the pending requests at the top of their Members tab, each with Approve and Decline.

Follow a game straight from the card
The sessions on Discover's "Now" list carry a Follow button now, not just a count of who's in — so you can commit to one without opening it first. Tap again to unfollow.

Spontaneous play knows when it's late
Start a spontaneous session after 9pm and it plans for tomorrow, not a sliver of tonight. The prompt says so — "Feel like getting active tomorrow?" — every time slot opens back up, and the session is titled for the day it actually lands on, instead of tonight's weekday over a 6am start.

- Fewer duplicate notifications — a push or email can't fire twice for the same alert anymore
- Your public groups now show on your About tab, and you can join a friend's public groups from theirs
- The "Started following you" activity card no longer shows your own name or taps through to your own profile

Home and Discover finally do different jobs
Home is now about what you've got going: the games you and your circle have coming up, an MVP crown waiting to be claimed, and your circle's activity — in that order. Discover is where you go to browse, and it's the one and only home of the "For You" feed now (Home's old "For You" tab is renamed "Following"). The "Games near you" carousel only turns up on Home when your own calendar is empty, so an active week isn't buried under a browse rail.

Winning MVP is now a moment
When you win — or tie for — MVP on a session whose voting has closed, opening it sets the whole thing off: confetti, a trophy, a gold crown dropping onto your avatar, a shimmer and a celebratory buzz, ending in a one-tap "Share my win." If you didn't win, the reveal is the calmer one you already know.

Weather on the Act Now card, and a lock for private games
The "Act Now" card on Home now shows the weather for your next game, right above Directions. Private sessions wear a small padlock in place of the calendar icon everywhere they show up, so you can tell one at a glance. And "Rerun this session" finally remembers whether the original was public or private, instead of always starting public.

Anyone in a session can invite friends now
Bringing people along used to be the host's job alone. Now every participant can do it: open the session's overflow menu and "Add Friends" is there, offering your teammates — the people who follow you back — with anyone already going filtered out.

Your skill radar got a real glow-up
The skill chart on your profile switches between your sports now, fills with your sport's own color instead of flat green, and wraps long skill names so they stop running off the edge. It also draws itself in when it appears.

The Nearby map reads right
It frames all the games at once instead of zooming out to the whole coastline for one far-off pin. Games close together collapse into a counted bubble that expands when you tap it, and every pin is tinted by its sport.

Recent activity leads with the highlights
Your feed floats the good stuff — MVP wins, endorsements, new footage — to the top of each day, and each one carries its own "Share" button so you can pass it along without hunting for it.

A smoother first run
New players land on a clearer cold-start Home with a single obvious next step, and empty states that suggest hosting a run or getting notified instead of showing nothing at all. And the final onboarding screen's "Let's Start!" button — which used to do nothing — now actually starts the app.
