RESTARTING from level 1?! *2025-03-29, version 1.1.0* Okay, I had downloaded this game last night and went to level 13… was really difficult so I had deleted the app, not even a full 24 hours had gone by. Just for me to redownload and I have to pay to remove ads AGAIN? That’s rather unfair given the fact that I had already paid for it before uninstalling… and then I have to re-do the entire game due to me just clearing space off of my phone 🤦‍♂️ Honestly just a waste of time if you’re looking to play and delete, because it’ll delete your progress and then you’ll have to start all the way over. ### 2/5 — Bad progress. *2024-08-22, version 1.1.0* Getting sent 1 level back on a loss is stupid. Uninstalled. ### 4/5 — Amazing retro style game! Just a few suggestions though. *2024-04-16* I love retro-inspired video games, and this one I feel is just that. My only three complaints are that, for one, the game doesn’t save my progress when I beat a new level a lot of the time and it does in specific circumstances… Yeah, I don’t know if that’s intentional, but whatever. My second suggestion is that there should be duplicate treasures, since once you collect all of them, I’m assuming you’re just done. Maybe even make the duplicates worth gold. My final idea is to add more headwear to the game, and while I do think that there are enough already, more styles would be cool, like all the different colors of the rainbow or something. But amazing game otherwise :) ### 4/5 — It’s good but way to hard *2023-11-10, version 1.1.0* I stopped having fun at level 10 so I quit and deleted the game ### 3/5 — Good Game / Ad Frequency Warning *2023-09-09* I think this is a decent game concept, and it's executed decently in my opinion aside from depth perception challenges. The questionable depth perception is likely purposeful to evoke mistakes, so this could be a difference in my tastes versus the developer's tastes. After every two runs (roughly 30 seconds each run) there will be a 5 skippable ad. Upon dying, you must wait 10 seconds and then get a 5 second skippable ad, or watch a 30 second ad to continue. When you die, you will need to repeat the previous level before attempting the the new level again. I'd say this design would be more permissible if the frequency of ads in the game were reduced. Repeating the same level in my experience is not as fun as one might think it is. The learning curve is fast, but there are still basic purposeful misrepresentations of enemies and the graphics that will cause one to make a mistake. Overall, decent game. Many ads(~1 ad every minute). Level repetition on loss. ### 4/5 — IAPs broken *2023-05-09, version 1.1.0* Really fun first person rpg that feels a bit like a rhythm game. The one star is because the ads are pretty intrusive and the in app purchases button to remove them doesn’t seem to be working ### 5/5 — Epic! *2023-04-12, version 1.1.0* I love this game, it’s very challenging and fast paced. It does not get boring and is my #1 choice to play for whenever I need a game to pass the time. Once you learn all the mechanics and patterns it starts to become really enjoyable. And not to mention, there’s a new mechanic introduced every single level. This is great, because it gets you intrigued and it doesn’t feel repetitive at all. Overall, it’s a very solid game. I do have one little nitpick though, and that is the fact that you have to play the previous level again if you lose 1 or 2 times. In my opinion, I don’t think it affects the gameplay that much. You still feel motivated to play afterwards, but it just feels wrong. It really just feels like that mechanic was added just so that gameplay time would increase and there were many other solutions I’m pretty sure you could’ve done. ### 4/5 — Missing SOUNDS!!!! *2023-04-03, version 1.1.0* Missing SOUNDS!!!! All Nitrome games I’ve downloaded are pretty fun but they are all missing their soundtracks and FX! I hope this helps the developers and isn’t lost on them! ### 5/5 — For all you haters my (good) opinion of sprint rpg *2022-12-29* You just hate the game because it’s hard just appreciate the work and time the people put into this!! Don’t be a hater just think about all the good thing in this game! Instead of thinking about all the bad things!! If the game is hard because of the timer then that’s good because if it’s hard then it will take time to beat and no one wants a 5-30 minute game! If you want to beat an easy game then you won’t feel proud you might feel proud because you beat a game but the game was easy! If the game is easy then it won’t be that cool!! In conclusion appreciate all the time and work and time and just know that these people put their work and time into this just so you could hate on it!! The core game mechanic is fine, but it only has superficial RPG elements where you get meaningless rewards for meaningless achievements. This is for multiple reasons. One, the timer is constantly going down to the point where you can hardly make a single mistake. You also feel pressed for time making you go faster and make more mistakes. This would be fun if the game was actually playable. Two, the signals are terrible. I can never tell what I am supposed to do, yes it shows a button prompt on the buttons, but your eyes are not on the buttons, they are on the creatures and the timer. Also the creatures and walls require you to move to them way sooner than you expect. I have lost the run multiple times to just misjudging the distance. Three, the level progression. In order to progress through this game, not only do you have to play through the level you just did again, but you also have to finish the next level, or else it won’t be unlocked, and when you die, and decide to leave to check out the optional cosmetics or something, the game makes fun of you for backing out and calls you a chicken. This game makes me so mad, it is worse than any other game I have played in my life, and I have played some brutal games. When I was younger, I used to associate Nitrome with mediocre games that were ok time killers. Now I associate this company with utter garbage, that is not worth a minute of your time. ### 1/5 — Glitching *2020-11-15, version 1.1.0* This has been a awful experience evey time I hit the wrong button it automatically closes the game out to the Home Screen and the timer freezes then the whole game freezes up ### 1/5 — Depth perception - Unfortunately Unplayable *2019-12-20* A game is only challenging in a fun way if there are super clear rules, and if it feels fair. Dark Souls, for instance, you know what you’re about to get hit. You know what the enemy looks like in front of you. It’s your fault for getting hit. This game, I can’t say shares the same culpability. Every corner looks 1 more step forward and you lose health. Every enemy seems like they’re one step too far away. Look - I made plenty of mistakes playing this game. I could learn from them and I don’t get frustrated from those. But if I die in this game due to corners that are a mile away, or a bat that seems like you’d need a bow and arrow to hit, I don’t feel like I’ll learn from this. I just feel frustrated and like this is a bad game. It’s not a fair game, and the challenge just comes from the dev/art teams inability to create graphics that make the game clear. If I’m playing your game and a full screen ad suddenly pops up out of nowhere and hijacks my screen, that means that your game is utter crap. Please fix this. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — I love it *2026-04-24, version 1.1.0* I have a fun time playing and you experience other monsters each level and it’s pretty nice good job challenging but relaxing and fun I LOVE THIS. ### 5/5 — Alright haters, LISTEN UP *2026-03-25, version 1.1.0* Yall are just hating either because you have nothing else to do, you haven’t read the monster book THAT TELLS YOU WHAT TO DO AT AN ENCOUNTER, or you just absolutely suck at the game and think that’s because of bugs. Yes, it’s true that if you screw up a few times, the game is unforgiving, but you can counteract that by going slightly faster, and READING THE GODDAMN MONSTER BOOK IN THE MENU! Also, you can learn how to kill the enemies by purposefully going slow and going back a level, because then, you can study the attack pattern they have! Others think the game sucks because they can’t beat it, that’s fine, but don’t write a scathing review just because you can’t beat level one! It’s not for you, that’s fine. Just leave it alone and forget, only write these 1 star reviews if the game is literally unplayable because of a bug or something. That’s all I have time for. First of all why do they need to bring you back to the level you just completed when you die that’s so stupid they do this with every game they make you pay to get a checkpoint like common, all Nitrome’s games are bad. Second of all why do you need time ANYTHING ELSE MAYBE A HEALTH BAR also boring as freak level design. This game and all their games are crap.
