Trying to place a background color that will stay in place while the pixel art is animated. Gotta prompt a user to save or just auto save when making a new project. It was pretty heartbreaking when he saw how much of his work he lost. ### 5/5 — Best animation suite period. *2021-01-17, version 1.8.1* Tried a few subscription and propitiatory apps and this little package beats them all hands down. If you have ever used a raster image editor (Photo shop, gimp , Dog waffle} you will be right at home with the interface. If you are new at image editing you will not need much instruction, the interface is self explanatory. Save your time and money, get this awesome application. ### 4/5 — Good app but a couple issues *2020-12-10* I downloaded this app because I wanted a program for pixel art that I could also animate with. Overall I really like this app and it’s what I wanted and I think worth the price, however there are a couple things that could be improved. One of the best things about this app is it allows you to have a reference image open while working, which I haven’t seen done as well as this app does. I love that I can save and load projects directly in the app, but when exporting it does not allow me to directly save to my photos. I found ways around it so it’s not that big of a deal just a little annoying. The other thing I have a large problem with is the way the onion skin works. It’s confusing and doesn’t do what an onion skin should do, which is show the layers/animation frames beneath it usually at a lower opacity. ### 5/5 — By far the easiest most fun pixel art app *2020-12-05* I’ve used all the pixel art apps on iOS and desktop and this one I keep going back to. Perfect for 2D game art. Would be nice to have dithered gradients, outline edges, shading tools, perfect 1px curves all in one app but just wishful thinking. I usually sketch on the phone and bring it to photoshop for fine tuning. The export options are very robust. A suggestion... *2020-04-27, version 1.8.1* UPDATE: Just discovered that you can indeed mirror a selection! This was enough to secure a 5 star rating. It would still be nice to be able to mirror a selection vertically and do the rotations I mentioned in this review but it's already so powerful an app that you can do just about anything you'd want to with it. ------ I've had this app for ages, now. I paid for the removal of ads and I consider it to have been well worth it. It has a simple and very intuitive UI. I could go on and on. Just playing around with this app has taught me more than I probably ever thought I'd know about sprite creation and even animation. I'm begining to get advanced with my creations. If you have the slightest interest in creating sprites, I strongly recommend getting this app. With the praise out of the way, I'd like to suggest an improvement. I recently discovered the copy/paste/transform tool (not sure if it has a name). It's great. Very powerful, and I can see all kinds of uses for it. However, its power could be greatly augmented by adding what I assume would be easily implemented functions: the ability to flip a selection about its verticle or horizontal axis (i.e., mirror it horizontally or vertically) and the ability to place it into four different rotations (i.e, ⊓ ⊐ ⊔ ⊏). The pixel matrix should allow for these tranformations without distorting the selection's structure, if I'm not mistaken. The ability to resize a selection would also be quite powerful but I'd imagine it'd be a lot trickier, involving interpretations determining which pixels should go where and that much more code. As I said, I recently discovered this feature and all it can do but, although it opens up a world of possibilities, I actually haven't really used it yet because It didn't have the functionality I've proposed. Wow, this got long-winded. Even for me. Sorry, reader. I'd love a response regarding my suggestion. Otherwise, great work. I love the app. ### 4/5 — Amazing but Buggy *2020-04-24, version 1.8.1* I love this app is my go to for pixel art, but it crashes when every I save too much progress which makes it very tedious and time consuming to make progress on my work. Other than that it is perfect. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Why the new update? *2021-11-25, version 2.0* I don’t understand why you guys have to update this app. Literally it was so perfect the way it was. A few things such as letting us rotate a few pixels art in all angle would’ve been even more perfect but instead you updated a whole new f—king app and now I lost all my files and I regret spending money on this trash app thanks a lot :). ### 1/5 — Do not buy *2021-08-13, version 1.8.1* It looks good but is hard to use and is not what it looks like. For anything else look elsewhere. Read on for the troubles. I am unable to contact the developer to ask questions or get help. The move icon (hand) does not work for me. (iPhone 8+, IOS 13.3.1). Trying to flip the image is a pain in the butt. It duplicates the image when all I want is to look at the image flipped (flip_h). Additionally you are unable to save Palettes there is only 1 selection of colors and while you might be able to use RGB and HSV, you only have 24 possible color saves. Animation is not fun on this at all, and while the preview is nice, it doesn’t make up for the lack of features. Finally, the selection box only allows you to copy and paste. It does not allow you to select a portion of your image and move it without duplication. While overall the app is simplistic and relatively easy to use, the failure for features to work and other basic features to be missing or hard to use does not make this a pixel creator for anyone to use. ### 2/5 — It keeps crashing and it’s not the easiest to use *2019-05-05, version 1.8.0* I feel I wasted my money on this app because it doesn’t let you chose any colour you want with a colour wheel, the only way i could get different colours was by importing images and even then it was difficult. This also kept crashing my ipad because whenever i pressed the home button the app would freeze and i had to turn my iPad off to be able to actually have it work again. I was trying to find an easy to use pixel animation app and this was not it. ### 3/5 — Good but old UI was a lot better. *2021-12-16* Not only does it look a lot more complex I am now unable to fully zoom out making seeing my full piece while editing harder to do.
