The app will miscommunicate with my printer, or the purchase order process will stop saving the way it used too. Tired of having to fix it every time. ### 3/5 — Quite possibly the worst app *2025-10-31, version 6.81* Always glitches. Have to constantly update and hope there’s a newer version coming soon because everytime you open the app it lags or won’t connect at all. For some reason, when you pick shipping as a fulfillment option, it automatically grays out the invoice payment option which is super convenient (sarcasm - I need to be able to send invoices for shipped orders all the time). But if you do it as in store pickup and click the shipping option in invoice it doesn’t account for taxes of the state being delivered to. Square is the worst. ### 1/5 — Nonexistent customer service *2025-09-03* Skim my transactions, block vendor/supplier payments because they are sure why and can’t fix it. Damage my business credit. Damage supplier relationship. Destroy sections of customer base through unfulfilled orders they blocked for no reason. They don’t know why they don’t care they can’t fix it and they won’t even try. Paid for 18 months for a website that didn’t work then I lost my wallet one day. My SQUARE DEBIT card was in it. The one I have automatic payments TO SQUARE coming from. Notified SQUARE that I need a new debit card. They allegedly send me a new one and issue a digital form. A couple days go by and they run the old card TWO DAYS before payment is due and shockingly it doesn’t go through. So, since SQUARE couldn’t charge me early for SQUARE on my SQUARE card that SQUARE cancelled and SQUARE reissued - they shut my system down at 2 in the afternoon with no communication whatsoever. Steer clear. I’m getting my inventory straightened up and bouncing the second I get a clean export. ### 4/5 — Stand attachment *2025-08-31, version 6.76.1* I love the Square app, but after the last update, the iPad doesn’t stay connected to the stand. Too complicated, annoying I have to unselect the vendor every time instead of showing items from all vendors. ### 4/5 — Good in use *2025-07-20, version 6.73* It works well, if you have internet access either 5G or Wi-Fi without it you cannot utilize the service. And if it is not used on a regular basis, you have to recover the account. 30 minute process. But other than that it works well. It can automatically send an email receipt. I like it because I can have put away that I can use it if needed. They'll sell you items that usually work but, if they don't you have no way to return or refund. Support does not help. they tell you to ask other users or paste incorrect, canned replies that do not apply at all to the issue. ### 4/5 — Customer or tester *2025-06-06, version 6.70* I’m fairly satisfied with Square. But as a small business starting out I don’t have many customers and that’s what makes the payment/ order dates spaced out. Not to mention someone from Miami started a dispute after receiving my product. I’ve shown documentation to square. The same person later tried to order two more items off my website (I knew this because the address was the same, they only changed their name). Square still decided to close my account down even with proof of my sales. They have zero focus on merchants issues with using their software, apps, and products. They 100% focus on how to TAKE more of your money. The new update in December, THE BUSIEST time of year, switched my retail wine shop into their restaurant mode. Every sale was an order waiting to be settled with NO option to settle. I had to wait 36 hours for “orders” to settle. No items came out of inventory until 36 hours later. No way of knowing what was in stock or wasn’t. Web orders were a nightmare. Tech support was tremendously stupid! I told them it’s acting like a restaurant. Ignored me. The first call in they said it’s because of the time difference, I’m in California. The second call they said “your orders are splitteted”. WHAT?!? 28 days later they said “it looks like you’re set up as a restaurant”. I told them that 28 days prior. All they could do was change the settlement time to 1.5 hours after I close. And…tech support is through email and they make you jump through hoops sending screen shots, and videos that they can’t access because they’re not allowed to view them but asked for them. ### 1/5 — Not user friendly *2025-12-18, version 6.86.2* We rarely use it but it is very in-user friendly. I can’t find out how to apply a surcharge. Last week, it accidentally did not include a sale and when I got to Checkout, I couldn’t go back and correct. ### 1/5 — Can’t create purchase orders *2025-12-08, version 6.84.1* Keeps giving me an error, saying could not save purchase order sink your items and try again ### 1/5 — Connection Issues *2025-11-26, version 6.82.3* 1 year after purchasing the square stand…the IPad keeps losing connection with the stand 😣 we tried everything to troubleshoot the connection issue and nothing has worked. To use the stand, you must disconnect & reconnect the iPad for each transaction. It keeps track of all my inventory, product stock, and prices! It makes it so easy for check out, you can do Apple Pay, or card payments on your phone!
