## What is Squeebles Maths Race?

Designed for children aged 5 to 11, Squeebles Maths Race offers an exciting 1-player or 2-player game, which makes practising addition, subtraction, multiplication and division a huge amount of fun. The app has been carefully designed to challenge each child’s unique ability level, allowing players of different abilities to take part in a "Maths Race" against one another.

Features:

> 1 or 2 player mode lets you take part in a maths race against a friend, sibling or the computer.
> Choose from addition, subtraction, multiplication or division questions.
> 4 difficulty levels allow each child to compete at a level appropriate for them.
> Parents / teachers can lock difficulty levels and certain times tables on a per-child basis.
> Progress is tracked for each child so parents and teachers can see how they're doing.
> With 35 Squeebles and 12 flipfish to collect, there are plenty of rewards for children to earn for doing well on the educational part of the app.
> Password-protected parent / teacher zone contains stats and settings for each child.
> Unlimited numbers of children can be registered with the app.
> No in app purchases, no advertising and no internet links of any kind.

The actual race takes place in the Rushing River on Squeeble Island. Children choose a Squeeble, and then a Flipfish for the Squeeble to ride upon. Once they’ve selected which maths skills they’d like to be tested on and chosen a difficulty level, the race begins! With each correct answer, the child’s Flipfish swims a little further toward the finish line and the winner is the first to answer ten questions correctly!

This is the first app within the series of Squeebles educational apps to introduce an element of competition into learning (in the 2-player mode) – a feature that teachers have suggested works well for some children – although we’ve carefully designed the app so that each child is competing at the level that’s just right for them.

In one-player mode, children can choose a friendly Squeeble opponent, who is either a mathematical ‘Beginner’, ‘Rookie’, ‘Pro’, ‘Expert’, ‘Legend’ or ‘Super Legend’. In two-player mode, children will enjoy the rare opportunity to use a touchscreen at the same time as a sibling, friend or classmate – it’s a great way to maximise learning time without needing a device for each child.

As well as being motivated by the wish to win a race, children are awarded stars for answering questions correctly. The stars can be saved up and then traded in for different Squeebles and Flipfish to ride during the races.

There are three scoreboards, which show the top ten racers for that day, that week and for ‘all time’.

For parents and teachers, the "Parent / Teacher Zone" can be password protected and contains stats for each child so that you can keep in touch with their learning and progress.

As with all Squeebles apps, we aim to offer a happy, positive, self-contained, environment for learning. Our apps have NO in-app purchases, NO third party advertising and NO active links that take children away from the confines of the app.

We’re always grateful to people who take the time to review or rate our apps in the App Store. For support or enquiries, please email us at info@keystagefun.co.uk. We’re always happy to hear from you.

### 1/5 — Not working properly

*2023-12-19*

I saw another user is having the same problem. All settings are set to beginner and easy. The game is still giving double digit questions. Frustrating. Asking for a refund.

### 4/5 — Not working properly

*2020-12-09*

This could provide really good practice. Both my children enjoyed playing and like the ability to trade stars for Squeebles. I liked how it was customizable for different players with tables. However that feature doesn't seem to work correctly. Despite the settings my older child gets easier questions and younger child gets harder questions. Frustrating for them and me!

### 1/5 — Faulty Subtraction Settings

*2020-05-13*

I’m very frustrated. I just purchased this app to help my son practice simple subtraction facts. Even when set to the beginner settings, it is giving him problems like 65–14 repeatedly. I’m looking for single digit subtraction but there is no option for that.

**Developer response:** Hi. If you e-mail us on info@keystagefun.co.uk then we should be able to sort this out. We have tested every setting and the beginner level only ever asks single digit subtraction questions to 10, so I'm guessing you're not selecting the correct level or have something set incorrectly in the settings. Please e-mail us and we can get the issue resolved so you can use the app as intended. Many thanks. Ian, KeyStageFun.

### 1/5 — Daughter hates it

*2020-03-23*

Because this app makes the maths a race it puts pressure on your child to win. If your child is a bad looser I wouldn’t bother. She hates it.

**Developer response:** Hi there.

Sorry to hear that your daughter didn't enjoy the app.

The key thing we have learned over the years is that different children learn in different ways. Some love the pressure and competitiveness of a timed challenge, whilst others find that stressful and prefer to learn at their own pace.

Our view is that neither approach is right or wrong - just different - and we have tried to create a variety of apps that work for different children and their preferred way of learning so there is "something for everyone" in the Squeebles range of apps.

This particular app works in a race format and is aimed at children who like the competitiveness that entails, either against the computer or a friend or sibling. We have tried to be clear about what the app features, but if we haven't managed that then apologies.

If you want to get in touch by e-mailing info@keystagefun.co.uk we would be happy to recommend an alternative app that your daughter may prefer and feel more comfortable with and I'm sure a refund can be organised via Apple if you purchased the app recently.

Once again, I'm sorry your daughter didn't enjoy the app and you felt that it warranted a one star review. We work hard to try and ensure we create apps that work for children of all learning styles and in your case, it's a shame we missed the mark. I hope you give us another chance and your daughter finds one of our other apps more suited to her.

All the best,

Ian, KeyStageFun - info@keystagefun.co.uk

### 5/5 — Brilliant competitive fun

*2018-12-16*

We love this! You can change the difficulty levels for each player so that an adult can play a child without unfair advantage. The children love earning new characters.

### 4/5 — Entertaining education

*2018-07-28*

Purchased the math race, tell the time and spelling in a bundle which seemed good value until I family shared to my son’s iPad and only the spelling game appeared for sharing. These are great games but I don’t want to purchase again. The spelling game will definitely grow with your child.

**Developer response:** Hi there. You should be able to share all our apps using Family Sharing, so definitely shouldn't have to pay again. If you contact Apple, they will be able to help you with any information around sharing apps between devices - the purchase / sharing infrastructure is handled by Apple. Thanks. Ian, KeyStageFun. info@keystagefun.co.uk

### 5/5 — Best of the best

*2016-12-07*

The squeebles apps are in their own league when it comes to educational use. This is the best. If you are a teacher, get this app. Kids can play against each other in class at different levels or against the computer Squeebles. If you are a parent, get it!

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2016-11-01*

All of these apps are superb. So easy to use, appealing to the kids and easy to adjust the level of difficulty to suit all needs. Very impressed and happy to finally find some decent Educational apps.

### 5/5 — FANTASTIC APP!

*2015-09-09*

This app does an excellent job helping children practice their math facts.

No frills, NO IN-APP PURCHASES, no annoying "music", no interruptions to rate this app...just math practice with a little friendly competition thrown in for fun. My four children (4-12) can all play this app (albeit the youngest needs help).

This is perfect for those that want a simple, yet effective app. I love how I can tailor it to each child's level. The very hard option allows me to play against them and not "let them win" each time!

My only suggestion would be to have the multiplication and division facts go to 15.

Thanks for a great app!

### 5/5 — Brilliant app

*2014-08-22*

This app is well worth paying for. We have all the squeebles maths apps and the spelling app. Our grandsons (8 & 11) are always happy to use them. This one is particularly good as the boys can play against each other, both at their own level. They also enjoy challenging us to a game!
