For example, it will route me on tight angles like TWA 40 degrees when my polars are super slow at that angle and I’ve entered in the advanced options to not go tighter than TWA 60. Or when it has me going 1.2 knots in 12 knots true wind speed and 11 knots apparent, which doesn’t match my polar at all. Or the confusion between boat speed and SOG: if I set it to motor a given speed in a strong current it doesn’t correctly add in how the current impacts my SOG. Often squid does give me reasonable routes for simple cases in open water and minimal current… but in complicated cases with stronger currents and complicated routes it’s useless. ### 2/5 — Application ne fonctionne plus correctement. … *2024-07-21* Nouvelle version beaucoup moins bien que l’ancienne. Je paye pour rien! ### 1/5 — Latest updates wreck a good app *2024-05-18* The app used to work. But no longer does. Since they introduced the new version, the user interface remains poor and the functionality I was used to has disappeared. I don’t understand why the devs didn’t use TestFlight to introduce a new beta for testing instead of inflicting the buggy new version on existing users. I’ve cancelled the renewal of my subscription. ### 1/5 — Alles Daten und Abo weg? *2024-05-18* Abo über den App-Store. Nach dem Update ist alles weg und nicht mehr zugreifbar. I have released a lot of knowhow to other sailors but the new version is a joke. Map not appear, functions are not available, simply … unusable! I am paying it and during this period with a lot of regatta this is a nightmare. I am moving to other product ### 2/5 — Vernieuwde app *2024-05-12, version 4.0.7* De oude app was perfect voor mij. Deze versie heeft minder functies, niet overzichtelijk. Ik zal op zoek moeten gaan naar een andere app. ### 2/5 — Could be a game changer, but isn’t *2024-05-10* A routing software in your mobile device, that does not cost a thousand, could fill the gap for lots of amateur racers and ambitious cruisers. Squid has the potential to be just that, but unfortunately there are some severe flaws: - the GUI, currently under rework as it seems, has improved but is still odd. I guess we could live with that, if the functionality would be flawless. - routing often produces weird results where it sends you back and forth or in circles. Sometimes it helps to force it with more waypoints, which obviously spoils the whole idea of weather routing - custom polars always where a problem, now they are gone. One had to edit custom polars in a very odd interface, now this is gone and you can only use the included polars… this makes the whole thing useless! I hope this feature comes back soon, and I hope that in the future it is possible to import from ORC (or at least use the same table structure) - a very basic map is used (only coast lines shown, no sea chart), which obviously also is a severe problem as it sends you anywhere, where the map is blue, ignoring depths, bridges and no-go areas of any kind. I really hope the developer finds the resources that it would take to make this a killer app, I still believe it’s possible - go for it! :-) **Developer response:** Hello, thank you for your detailed feedback. J’étais satisfait de l’ancienne version Aucune carte n’apparait, juste quelques barbules de vent ! Alors que mon abonnement court toujours ! Que faire ? Notre équipe support (support@squid.fr) reste joignable pour toute autre remarque. ### 1/5 — Extreme Verschlechterung zum Vorgänger *2024-05-03* Das allerbeste ist, wir haben wie jedes Jahr über unseren Apple Account das Jahresabo für 33 € erneuert, mit dem Ergebnis, dass man weder in der Mobile APP noch in Squid X auf dem Mac dieses Abo im Zugriff hat. Das grenzt für mich an Betrug. Wir haben Apple darüber informiert und dem Hersteller eine geharnischte Email geschrieben. Die alte APP funktionierte wirklich gut, auch die Mac OS Version X. Was da jetzt rausgeworfen wurde, entspricht wirklich keiner Beschreibung mehr.
